old maid - Timoleon Maxime - January 4, 2024

The letter arrives early in the morning because why wouldn't he want her to have these thoughts all day?

Ms. Malfoy,

Happy one year closer to spinsterhood. You're almost there.

Mr. Maxime

Mr. Maxime,

Happy two-and-a-half months since your sensational campaign failure – you see that I am just as thoughtful as you. How long does mourning usually last for one’s political career?

Ms. Malfoy,

Your future husband is an unlucky man to have someone as gracious as you in their lives. Mourning period is much shorter than the life expectancy of a spinster, and in fact, it just ended. Have you picked out your lace cap to denote to the world your future spinsterhood status? Or perhaps a black mourning dress first, for all the suitors you'll never get.

T.,

I think you’ll find I look exceptionally well in lace, and in black. But if I were a wagering layabout, I would put money on my finding a husband long before you ever manage to pin down a wife. Amoral rake is a hard stench to shake.
