Dear Second Chance,

My heart goes out to you for having endured such heartbreak. I cannot imagine it was easy but I applaud your willingness to reach out once more. I am a young women of good family standing who enjoys literature most in life. You see it was fated for me as my mother named myself and my siblings after characters and authors of gothic literature and with that start how could I not? For most of my life, I have been partial to Mary Shelley's works.

I take some time to warm up to people, however once I know someone I can be quiet cheerful and passionate.

Miss Bookish,

Thank you for your letter. I am glad to hear you like literature – although like sounds an understatement in your case. Books were always my life, too; and unlike past loves, a good book does not usually desert you. I think I began to enjoy the Gothic more, the more I suffered: I suppose the anguish and loneliness in Frankenstein resounds most strongly with those who know the feeling.

I had hoped this might be a more cheerful letter. Let me try and lighten the tone. What are you reading right now?
