Dear In Search of Amusement

I do not know if I tick all your boxes though I like to think I do. However, if I say so I will be told that I am full of myself. Which I suppose I am. I am easily bored and it sounds like you might be the same. I am a young man that is at the lower side of his twenties.

What sort of amusement is it that you are looking for? I would be happy to oblige.

Sincerely,
In Need of Entertainment

Mr. In Need of Entertainment,

Well, I find confidence more attractive than modesty, whether that is the popular opinion or not. A man can get away with self-confidence, anyway, in ways a woman can’t.

But thank you for being so amenable to my plight. Someone as bored as I can scarcely afford to be choosy, so I shall take anything you have: be it a tale of misadventure; some funny, embarrassing story; a fact about you – or better still, a secret.

Waiting with bated breath,

Miss Amusement

I do not know if it is a popular opinion but I am quite in agreement. It is a shame a woman will be touted to be 'putting on airs' if she shows a shred of confidence in herself. Confident women are quite attractive.

A tale, you say? The first thing that comes to mind is when I was stranded after the shipwreck of the San Antonia. Do you remember that incident? It happened a scarce two years ago. I was with my best friend but it was quite the ordeal. He was not equipped for such an event, us both being of the upper class. Though, I have been told I should not speak of such things with young women but I have a feeling you don't much mind.

Sincerely,
In Need of Entertainment

Mr. In Need of Entertainment,

I certainly heard of the Santa Antonina shipwreck, although I was not on it! You must tell me more, indeed, whether or not you ought – because you are quite right, I am determined to know. I shall keep any inappropriate information to myself, I promise.

Tell me more of your stranding! How long were you both left? How did you and your friend fare?

And what else do you find attractive in women

Dear In Search of Amusement

We ended up on a rock of all things. My friend professed an intent to never go on a boat again. Usually it is him being the mature, responsible one while I just... enjoy having fun. That time saw me in that role and it was quite disconcerting. Thankfully, I have always been skilled in Transfiguration so that helped us a bit as we had some things with us.

What would you do if you had been stranded? I am quite curious to know now.

Sincerely,
In Need of Entertainment

Mr. In Need of Entertainment,

A rock! How big – or how small – was said rock? I am envisioning quite a miserable, barren place to be marooned... Your poor friend; at least you sound as though you have the hardy disposition required to survive such things unscathed. Transfiguration must have helped a great deal.

I excel at Transfiguration myself, so I hope I would have been of a mind with you had I been there. Hopefully I would not have succumbed to cannibalism. Depending on how long I was left there, perhaps I would have gone mad, though – free and wild and uncivilised. Perhaps my friend and I would have returned to primitive Garden of Eden-esque ways, worn nothing but palm fronds and danced around fires? One can only imagine.
