My son, A.H. Bythesea ,
Darling, I hope that your first night at Hogwarts was everything you hoped! I'm writing this letter during your first night, so that our owl will drop it off at Hogwarts for you tomorrow morning.
Which house were you sorted into? Have you made any friends yet? You shall have to tell me everything; I miss you already. Please also let me know if there is anything you left at home, as I will send it to you. Your younger brother & your father say hello as well; I am of course sending another letter to Harriet.

Mama,
I got your letter this morning just as you expected. Thank you for writing.
My first night went well. The Sorting Hat put me in Ravenclaw, and while the common room is very nice and I enjoy having a view of the grounds from Ravenclaw tower, I think the other Ravenclaws in my year are too much for me. One of them threw a tantrum at the sorting ceremony and then something happened last night that got
forty points taken away from us. I think it was a fight.
A few of the boys are nice. I suppose I will do my best to befriend them.
I have everything I need, I think. I will let you know if that changes.
Love,
Algernon
