Taken from Philomena Sprouts app: “While the Sprouts have been Upper Class for quite some time, their wealth has not gone back for very many generations, and for some, their “new money” could be a reason for them to be looked down upon.” Lud isn’t a deb with failed seasons however so perhaps higher than Phie’s 8? Or maybe that affects him too? As usual I am clueless here.

Appearance:
Standing at 6’ ½” feet, Ludwig towers over the average witch or wizard. His frame is sturdy and muscular as he tries to keep himself in good health and shape. The last thing he wants is to have a lack of physical ability causing him to get injured while out doing fieldwork. His deeper skin tone is complemented by black hair and a well groomed beard, as well as brown eyes with flecks of golden-copper in them. Working in the wilderness amongst plants and bugs means it is not uncommon to find dirt under his nails. However he does enjoy looking well put together when back in town and often wears darker colors on his sisters advice as it helps hide any possible lingering dirt from plants and the such.

History:
-Childhood:
First born in a pair of twins, Ludwig and his brother’s bond instantly makes them an almost inseparable duo throughout their childhood. At the age of six, the arrival of Phie brings along the tragic passing of their mother. Ludwig struggles with this greatly and retreats into his shell, finding that expressing his emotions outwards would be too much. This motivates his violin playing to become a more serious hobby as when he plays he is able to not think about much else. When he isn’t playing he finds books to be an equally captivating escape. The death of his mother also brings with it an intensely protective side when it comes to Phie, and he tries his best to make sure nothing bad happens to her.

When he is ten the sudden scream coming from Phie has him instantly dropping his violin to run and see what is wrong. Relieved to see nothing is wrong with her, his worries switch over to the injured fox that she is cradling in her arms. The family's gardens have always made for a second home for a plethora of various wildlife, and with it a deep caring for creatures amongst the family. It takes very little convincing from Phie for Lud to be game to convince their father into letting them nurse it back to health and keep it. He names it after one of his favorite composers; Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Chai for short. He spends the year before his departure to Hogwarts often playing for the fox.

-Academic Years:
Lud is saddened when he and his brother are sorted into different houses. It’s the first time there’s been a measurable distance between the pair, and he finds himself a bit lost in the beginning as he struggles to connect with his fellow Hufflepuff firsties. Nothing quite compares to the understanding and bond of a twin. Over time however he finds his footing with making friendships, but the ability to easily connect or form bonds without feeling shy or awkward still haunts him later on in life. As a student he excels at Herbology, C.o.M.C., and Potions. His brother and him often meet up in the greenhouses [when available as it reminds them of home] or library for joint study sessions.

A topic that captivates Ludwig throughout his Hogwarts studies is the idea of animagi. Whenever his schoolwork is wrapped up for the night, he is often reading on the topic and he falls in love with the idea of being able to transform into an animal. A mix of the whimsy and the familiar idea of being able to roam the comforts of gardens as the wildlife do in his family's greenhouses appeals greatly to him.

-After Schooling:
Deciding to finally put his years of studies into action, Ludwig attempts and successfully transforms into his animagus form of a cross fox. Much to the ease of his anxieties he is also able to switch between forms and not become stuck. He uses this to his advantage as career wise he steps into the world of magizoology, preferring to specialize in insects as it blends his deep love of the world of plants with his passion for animals. He uses his fox form to navigate and closely encounter bugs tucked away in the leaves of plants that would have been otherwise nearly impossible to reach with his human size. It also makes digging for bugs hidden in the ground quite easy.

The summer of 1882 comes with another tragedy for the family. Phie’s supposed nightmare leaves Lud on edge for days as her screams were a terrifying thing to wake up to. He struggles to sleep during these days until his mind finally lets it go and accepts that it must have merely been a nightmare. However, the first night he is able to get sleep again is the same night that the family's greenhouses catch fire, and the majority of their gardens are destroyed. While Ludwig knows that ultimately it is in no way his fault, he finds himself pained with guilt that his insomnia hadn’t kept him up for just one more night.

While not a tragedy, 1883’s summer comes with another hurdle for the family to accept, and that is his fathers courting of Ms. Renata ___. He is happy to see his father smitten, and while it is a bit of an adjustment having someone new closely merge into their family, Ludwig finds Renata to be a delightful and easy fit into his family's inner workings. She even plays the violin! A fact that while he quite enjoys, seems to annoy Phie greatly.

In 1888, the Sprouts officially opened the Evergardens. A project largely brought about thanks to Phie’s imagination and inspiration for bringing the family's greenhouses back to life. Ludwig enjoys spending time here when he needs to relax, or wants to catch up with his sister after coming home from traveling. He’ll also check in on the butterflies and other varieties of insects that inhabit the greenery to make sure all is well within the greenhouses budding ecosystem.
