I really hope this reaches you on time, the owl I entrusted it too seemed a bit off his rocker. In any case, it brings me great pleasure to tell you that I should finally be released from my project and coming home in the next few weeks! I'm sorry I can't say more, it's been so hectic here I can scarcely believe it's been a few months. I miss you dreadfully.

Must fly, matron just came in demanding less lying around and more work — Merlin forbid we be given a respite longer than it takes to write a few sentences of a letter.

It seems to have  taken a couple of days, but it did make it! I'm relieved to hear you'll be completing your project and heading home my way soon. Letters just don't cut it sometimes. It feels like eons. I hope you're safe and well and that things are going smoothly.

I have a surprise for you when you get back. Maybe two.

Merlin, I can scarcely keep my eyes open. Matron is so strict, you'd think she took pleasure in making us miserable. It'll feel so good once I'm on the way back home. We were told the 20th as a definitive date.

Two surprises? Merlin, any chance of a hint at what they are?
