The NPC Lending Library - Reuben Crouch - August 26, 2022

Chatting with Nolie recently about how much we use & abuse random NPCs in our threads, and I thought it might be cool if we could collect them somewhere so other people could use them in their threads too, if relevant! Could be some fun shared worldbuilding (imagine if instead of picking a new name for 'guy who asked you to dance and had bad breath' every time you need one you could just talk about Mr. Hathwaite and everyone had a mental picture of him already!) and you never know, maybe it will turn into something more someday. The Daphnels were originally NPC party hosts and I know Nichole really enjoyed reading people's random commentary on Bea before she apped her, so...

You can also feel free to add your character's family members here if you don't mind other people referencing them in threads and pushing them around a bit. If you're going to maim or kill off an NPC, check in with whoever the original 'owner' was.

Without further ado:

Karina, a chorus ballerina in the London Ballet | Oz described her as "a brunette with too-large eyes" so I picture her as Jenna Coleman | From Austria, worked with @"Sophia Voss" in Russia before moving to England. She shows up in the first half of this thread. She isn't good at flirting, but she's probably very sweet.

I'll let Nolie add our poor ballet manager <3

RE: The NPC Lending Library - Seneca Lestrange - August 26, 2022

I love this! I'm really enjoying this concept so here's my contribution:

Mrs. Fíona Alastair - Born on June 6th, 1855, in Dublin, she managed to marry up but she has little success as a socialite. She recently hosted the Fruit Ball, which I personally think was really fun, but some Uppity Upperclassers considered it tacky. She's really communicative (Sun in Gemini), creative (many Water placements) and really pretty, but has the tendency to try too hard and rejection only makes her try harder.

She hired Ruby to get her birth chart, so she can be used as an NPC for general Seer needs! And she can be used as a hostess too.

EDIT: I took the liberty to make a Spreadsheet to keep track! I divided them by Class, but everyone with the link can edit so feel free to change it around!

RE: The NPC Lending Library - Odessa Pettigrew - August 26, 2022

Constance Gregory - Mid-late 40s. She was Odessa's governess from the fall of 1884 to August of 1892. She's breaking some pedagogical rules by today's standards, but for the era, she's an A+ governess for upper-class girls. She's strict and focused on getting results. Image conscious and obsessed with etiquette. She'll be open to work starting September, so she can be your child (girl) character's NPC governess! Appearance wise I picture her looking like Miss Constance Hardbroom from the Worst Witch.

OMG THIS IS BRILLIANT!

RESERVING A SPACE TO COME BACK AND ADD TERRIBLE MS. TWIGLETT WHEN I'M OFF MY CALLS!

RE: The NPC Lending Library - Seneca Lestrange - August 26, 2022

Saul Grimsbane - an author and scholar in the field of Dark Arts (Born late 1700s). He's written books on various topics concerning the Dark Arts; things as "The Anatomy of Blood Curses" and things like that. Not super well known, only characters who are into the Dark Arts would likely know of him and his work.

RE: The NPC Lending Library - Marie-Louise Prewett - August 26, 2022

The Bagshots

Mr. and Mrs. Bagshot are UCPB. Mrs. Bagshot is the godmother of @"Marie-Louise Skovgaard" and sponsored Malou's first season out. In the years since she has chaperoned Malou to events. She is a cheerful plump woman who is friendly with Hermione Longbottom. She was school friends with Malou's mother as well and is in her early 40s. She is very much an "ambitious mama" for Malou.

Mr. Bagshot is an upstanding gentleman of leisure. Likes his brandy and newspapers. Is not opposed to being social, finds his wife's antics humerous. He is average height, balding, with a belly. Good humored.

Mr. Bagshot, the younger is their only child. He is of an age with Malou. Rather reserved. He tormented Malou during their school days but always assumed they would be married.

The Bellchants

The family of Nimiane Delaney. Mr. Mortimer Bellchant is not a pleasant man. He is UCPB, elitist, and is ashamed of his squib daughter. Tall, stern, and imposing he is in his 60s or 70s with dark hair that is graying. He retired from a high ranking ministry position and served on the Wizgamot during his time at the ministry.

Benedict Bellchant is cut from the same cloth as his father. He can't stand his sister and is a a complete snob. He is out there looking for a UCPB wife. He is tall and slender, but looks as if he never smiles.

The Dastardly Mr. Hiddleton

Mr. Hiddleton first appeared in this thread. Described as older, confirmed bachelor with grimy hands, making lewd comments and not leaving Verity alone.
He has ties to the blackmarket so if you are in the black market you may come across him.
He also kidnapped Verity but only Everett Swann is aware of this.

RE: The NPC Lending Library - Thomas Harvey - August 27, 2022

“Briggs” – WCAB male bookie at the boxing ring.
As of August ‘92 he owes Thomas Harvey some money and managed to swindle him into taking ‘boxing lessons’ he swears is in addition to/not in place of the money owed. Suspiciously never around when Tommy is. Isis Silverthorne suggests she can help Tom with the ‘freelance debt recovery’
Origin thread

Boxers Mackenzie/“Mac” & Werewolf Guy — WC/MCAB, Male, Two heavyweight boxers at a recent match.
Odds were good for Mac and Thomas Harvey bets on him but he really got his ass kicked at this R1 prizefight in Shoreditch. Mac had a big following at the match so my guess is he’s like a local champ for WC/MC. Werewolf guy just looks like a werewolf, allegedly, and definitely did a foul move by beating Mac up when he was stuck on the ropes and was booed.

RE: The NPC Lending Library - Victor Daphnel - August 29, 2022

Oscar Daphnel — a recent Hogwarts graduate (17-18 years old) with ambitious plans for his life. Probably plans that require quite a bit of money, which as the third son he isn't exactly entitled to. He will likely try to convince everyone in the family to fund his ambitions at some point. UCPB. Mixed race (Asian descent).

He is adoptable but can also cameo in anyone's threads being an uppity teenager <3 He can probably be seen at parties talking up his Grand Life Ambitions, trying to get other people involved in various Schemes, and flirting with women who are out of his league.

RE: The NPC Lending Library - Dorothea Twycross - August 30, 2022

NPC Hosts: the Williams family, which consists of a respectable gentleman of leisure, his society wife, and three hapless sons of roughly marriageable age but apparently little inclination. (Are they cousins of the ghostly Williams who lives in Tycho Dodonus' house? Perhaps). They are UCAB and own a house in the country, which Mrs. Williams, a hobbyist horticulturist, has filled with all manner of exotic (and occasionally dangerous) plants. They threw an Equinox Ball on 22 September, 1892.

RE: The NPC Lending Library - Cecelia Stuart-Lane - June 5, 2024

Thread Resurrection

Because I like this idea and I need to post this information somewhere easily searchable.

This one's a little bit more detailed than many of the others, as I based it off of the Application Template, but that's because I needed her to be a little more fleshed out than the standard NPC. She is Cecelia's society sponsor; her children and husband are adoptable, but Amelie herself is not because I need her to stay an NPC. Amelie sees her son Hunter as not yet ready for a wife, despite his status as an only son, and may be overprotective of him.

The image used for her appearance is not a model whose name I could locate, but I can provide the source.

Full Name: Amelie Josephina Chamberlain
Birthdate: July 18, 1842
Current Age: 51
Gender: Female
Occupation: Socialite
Reputation: 9
Residence: A country estate in Derbyshire, with one townhouse in Wellingtonshire, Hogsmeade and another in London
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Wand: English oak, 11", unicorn tail hair
Blood Status: Muggleborn
Social Class: Upper
Family:
Husband: Winston Chamberlain (b. 1837)

Daughter: Sophronia née Chamberlain (b. 1863)
Daughter: Georgiana née Chamberlain (b. 1864)
Daughter: Veronica née Chamberlain (b. 1866)
Son: Hunter Chamberlain (b. 1870)
Appearance:
General |
Fair of hair and complexion, Amelie Chamberlain is not the sort anyone would desribe as stern or strict. With expressive green eyes, a strong but not overly large nose, and a relatively squared chin, she isn't necessarily the most handsome woman, but she more than makes up for it in fashion.

Fashion | In keeping with the latest fine fashions, Amelie favors muggle designs over wizarding robes. Her color palate is relatively cool-toned, and though it is the fashion of the day, she keeps her sleeves relatively slimmer, opting to go without sleeve cages and allowing the fabric to lie as it will.

Accessories | Never without earrings, Amelie favors complete sets over piecemeal. Her favorite set to wear with eveningwear is sapphire and diamonds upon a silver frame that once belonged to her grandmother.

Scent | Simple rose water

Personality:
RELIABLE | ENTHUSIASTIC
OBSERVANT | HUMBLE
STUBBORN | ALTRUISTIC

Other:
  • Has produced a corporeal patronus three times in her life, taking the form of a wild boar.
  • Skilled with pianoforte, harp, and violin.
  • Positively hopeless at embroidery.
