George Waterford vs. Thomas Harvey - Faustus Prewett - June 29, 2022
July 24th, 182 — Headquarters of the London Society for the Practice of Combative Magic
A new Hogwarts graduate vs a private investigator. This duel would be an interesting one as well. With the rules read, Faustus signaled to Mr. Waterford to start them off. "Please begin when ready, Mr. Waterford." He said to the young man with an encouraging smile.

George had made a terrible mistake. Though she had participated in a number of duels during her time at Hogwarts, this was different—there were aurors here, for Merlin's sake! A lapse in judgement and, perhaps, a desire to impress Alexander had brought her here, though—George had made her bed and would have to lie in it. Possibly her deathbed.
(Did people die in organized duels?)
(Were all duelists as handsome as Mr. Harvey?)
With a breath to hopefully steady the nerves (mixed results), George cast a disarming spell—she was not confident enough in her place here to try anything that might be deemed remotely creative.

Tommy’s dueling skill felt dusty. Now that he’d started to help with Barb’s bizarre investigations in earnest, it seemed they had a startling penchant for near-death encounters, which compelled the man to sharpen up at this clinic.
The benefit of living exclusively in wizarding society for all one’s life became clear as Tommy watched some of the earlier duels. No delusions here – these teeny-tiny kids in the student matches seemed fully capable of bludgeoning him half to death, should they need to. Speaking of which, he was startled to find one such teeny-tiny person, allegedly an adult, facing him now as a dueling partner. Just his luck… from experience, the small ones are usually feistiest.
Tom offered a wary smile, bowed, and looked a bit apologetic as he attempted to cast a torrential downpour of water over the other's head.

Soon after the spell left Mr. Waterford's mouth, he was swept off his feet causing the spell to misdirect - straight towards Faustus. With a shield charm successfully cast, the spell bounced off harmlessly before he declared Mr. Harvey the winner of this round. As Mr. Waterford was set to rights, Faustus nodded towards Mr. Harvey. "Please begin when ready, Mr. Harvey."

Damn - this wasn't usually the type of sweeping off one's feet that he liked to do... Though Tommy was pleased to learn that he wasn't as dull as he thought. A worried half-smile to his dueling partner implied, sorry mate, it's for the practice.
Tom's shoes squeaked on the still-wet platform when he cast his next spell. If it lands as intended, he hopes it'll give the little one across him an uncontrollable bout of giggles that prevents a counter-attack.

No sooner had Mr. Harvey casted his turn, than Mr. Waterford suddenly dissolved into an uncontrollable fit of giggles. Gesturing to the private investigator, Faustus announced him the victor as Mr. Waterford was set to rights. "Mr. Harvey, you shall advance to the next round."
