Hello!
We have not discussed the marriage ban IC or OOC since the Hogwarts ban was lifted. Is that still around? I'd especially love official staff input.
Thanks!

Can confirm that it is still illegal for non-humans to marry humans! No such marriage licenses will be issued.
From Bean:
Quote:it hasn’t gotten through re: repeal yet
Will def require some pressure IC if anyone has a burning desire to see this happen ;)

For legal technicalities question: where does halfbreed marriage fall? Are they considered in the human category and thus can marry other humans (ie normal witch/wizard) or are they only group with beings/beasts and as such cannot?
And then spewing further into this - Halfbreeds marrying other halfbreeds or halfbreeds marrying a being/beast?
As balfbreeds can attend hogwarts I'd assume they'd be grouped with human laws but this is the VE sooo.

Halfbreeds are legally human!

Take with the pinch of salt:
I always assumed the half breed situation was a bit like many WC marriages.
a lot of WC and lower MC people in the VE didn't get legally married, they just got together and started living as a couple - a legal marriage cost money that some people didn't have.
I've sort of assumed that it in our case it was the same with halfbreeds - they either got together and just started living together as though married and no one really thought twice about it. There would be no real rep impact for WC because common law couples were relatively common
MC was likely to be more controversial and in the upper classes absolutely not.
