Hogsmeade Slums

Baz’s third wand (one broken, one lost in a bad bet), is still not new to him, but is the best he’s used: Dogwood, eight and a quarter inches, with a unicorn tail hair. Flexible.

Muggleborn on paper, but the product of an affair, the fellow in question having been half-wizard, half-veela. As a result, Baz is actually a halfblood and one-quarter veela.

Look, Baz hasn’t actually talked to his natal family since leaving for Hogwarts due to the whole “magic = evil” thing, so as far as he’s concerned, they’re not exactly relevant.

Dashingly handsome, with a flourish of je ne sais quoi—oh, you don’t want his opinion? Fine.

Baz stands at an unremarkable five feet, seven inches of lean frame. Caramel-coloured skin is accented with dark, curly hair and brown eyes. His is an easy smile—or rather, smiles; Baz has a different smile for every occasion. He dresses exclusively in muggle attire and was born right-handed, but has developed to be ambidextrous.

The je ne sai quois is there, though. Probably from his particular bloodline.

Baz, in His Own Words

Every good story begins with a woman. In my case, I suppose that’s the woman who bore me—but given that she and my father later cast me from the house with little more than the clothes on my back and a promise to pray for me, well, I don’t think she really deserves top billing, do you?

Besides, I’m a treasure, so let’s start with me.

Clever. Charming. Habit of getting into a bit of trouble. Managed to unbreak a pitcher at the age of seven, there’s a bit of a shock for you. Turned out I had magic, at least that’s what the old man who who came to the butcher shop to take me away said. Parents were skeptical, not too into it, but I got to go off to school, so that’s something.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I was a Slytherin, surrounded by people who looked down on me and my fourth-hand school supplies and the fact that my great-great-great-great grandfather was a plowman or some such and family investments weren’t paying my school tuition (who was? Still not clear on that one). Only lasted the year, but it was a good year, and then it was not back home but to magical London.

Oh, I should probably tell you that this isn’t the story of the plucky orphan who finds a loving home and is nurtured and thrives and all that. It’s the story of the plucky orphan who falls in with the usual street gangs for a very particular sort of education.

I did thrive, though.

Until 1891, the year of trouble. It turns out that not everyone finds my confidence and good humour charming after all, and Old Dag and his boys took particular offense to me, in their words, “stealing their custom” (I did no such thing! Well…), and the death that was promised was not of the quick and painless variety. I maintain I had been looking for a change of scenery anyways, and that’s what saw me set up in Hogsmeade, and I have not heard anyone suggest otherwise.

Probably because I’m too frightened to show my face around the usual locales.
