RE: Unexpected IC Character Discoveries - Ozymandias Dempsey - January 31, 2022

Part of the reason Oz is such an ass is because he's afraid if he were openly sentimental about things one of his family members would write poetry about him.

After that came up in thread, I headcanon that Lowri Dempsey wrote some poetry just before/after he was born regarding her feelings about motherhood, baby Oz, etc etc, and that he read those when he was six or seven as an introduction to literary themes (in my heart all the Dempsey children were taught about metaphors and allegories and things shortly after they learned to read, as a matter of course) and felt really weird about it and that's when he started being more reserved about how he really feels.

RE: Unexpected IC Character Discoveries - Mabel Brighton - January 31, 2022

Mabel cries when she's angry + embarrassed. If she's just angry, she can usually keep it under control, but if there's any sort of embarrassment on her part involved, get ready cause here come the waterworks. But then that just makes her even more angry and more embarrassed, so you see her dilemma.

So - Yeat's basically plagerised Lowri when he wrote Prayer for my Son and Prayer for My Daughter :D Micheal Yeats- was apparently INCREDIBLY embarrassed by the maudlin nature of the poem - which basically claims people would try and kill him because he was going to do amazing things in the future - Ozy could definitely relate

RE: Unexpected IC Character Discoveries - Lucius Lestrange - February 3, 2022

Lucius apparently keeps an investigator on retainer—and also has a paid informant in the ministry's Investigation Department.

RE: Unexpected IC Character Discoveries - Odessa Pettigrew - August 15, 2022

Odessa writes short stories though she hasn't told me yet what genre.

RE: Unexpected IC Character Discoveries - Odessa Pettigrew - September 14, 2022

Odessa complaining about Hogwarts' dungeon smelling like mold lead to the discovery that she's got a great sense of smell but that also makes her really sensitive to smells. This will make classes like Potions and Herbology tough for her, which will be conflicting because she really wants to be a good potioneer and make useful healing potions.

RE: Unexpected IC Character Discoveries - Reuben Crouch - February 1, 2023

So! Ben told Melody he loved her for the first time after they'd been married a year.

Apparently, he privately thought he was in love with her a lot earlier than that — in this post he implies that even the potion she drugged him with wouldn't have gotten him to agree to marrying her if he hadn't already been in love.

I imagine it didn't come up in his posts for a long time because thinking about it head-on would have meant accepting that he was at least partly culpable for their disaster marriage. Anyway! Fun discoveries!

RE: Unexpected IC Character Discoveries - Philomena Sprout - December 4, 2023

Depending on the character they'll either reference Merlin like HP Wizard Folks or they'll reference God, in "Oh Merlin" or "oh God". I usually determine which one it is depending on how strong their connection to the muggle world is OR by their upbringing. Specifically Avery's very traditionally from the American South so her family was very religious - thus she'll make references to God first. Irene's got a muggle father, so she'd also reference God as well. But Diana or Adrienne or Cal would reference Merlin.
