If Jin felt a flutter at Ahn-Bo’s happy little chirp, he tried not to show it so obviously. He didn’t like letting Ahn-Bo see when he was self-conscious or craved drank in the validation. It felt like weakness and he was tired of being sad little Seojin-ah. He wanted to be someone Moon Ahn-Bo could be proud of; not someone he was constantly having to uplift and protect all the time. Jin would always have his insecurities and his things, but he didn’t need Ahn-Bo-ah to save him anymore. He wanted to be there to do the saving sometimes too.

At the slight tease about Cha-ssi, Jin felt his cheeks heat and not in a warm, fun way either. He’d never uttered a word to Ahn-Bo-ah about how he’d thought she was pretty once upon a time. And she’d been nice to him early on in the way others hadn’t. It wasn’t reason enough to like her fully in that way, but it had certainly thawed Jin to the pretty Joseoneo girl from the village next to his. Now they were just friends, and that was good enough for him.

He raised his elbow to nudge Ahn-Bo in the ribs with a scoff. “Not everything I do is about you,” he teased lightly. Though that was a lie, probably. This song had been more about his home life but Jin wasn’t about to admit that aloud. He was saved from having to elaborate at all as Ahn-Bo moved closer almost in retribution and kissed him all along the cheek as Jin played. A peal of laughter he couldn’t help bubbled out again and Jin shied away. He was ticklish and Ahn-Bo-ah knew that! “Hajima, hajima!” he protested as he nearly slid off the bench. But never once did Jin skip a single note.

Ahn-Bo Jeong
Ahn-Bo laughed nearly as much as Jin—who, despite nearly squirming completely off the bench, had miraculously continued to play without interruption. (Because of course he did; that’s how talented he was!) With Jin having wiggled away, he was perched precariously on the other side of the bench as far from Ahn-Bo’s reach as he could get. It wasn’t a very effective maneuver. The quidditch player had gleefully continued his kisses as Jin pulled away, simply sliding further and further along the bench to follow his retreat. Jin-a couldn’t go far if he wasn’t going to relinquish the piano keys. For all intents and purposes, he was trapped.

And then, as Ahn-Bo leaned in again to continue his barrage of ticklish kisses, Jin had pushed himself to the very edge of the bench—and then they both toppled over, taking the bench along with them and a cacophony of wood hitting wood, wood hitting bodies, bodies hitting bodies, and a clunk from the piano keys as Jin’s fingers were ripped away from them.

Despite his protests, Jin was infinitely pleased with the attention and the ticklish little kisses. He relished in the sound of Ahn-Bo’s laughter despite retreating further and further down the bench, wanting to wrap himself up in it like a blanket. He didn’t realize how close they were to the end however until they both quite literally went over the side in an accidental topple of the whole bench.

Jin’s eyes grew wide and owlish at the cacophony of sound that resulted. His first thought was ssi-bal, the piano! It was expensive and Western and very prized by Sensei! If they damaged it screwing around, he’d be done for and Abeoji would most certainly get a letter home which would mean— but the bench was fine. And so was he and so was Ahn-Bo-ah who had landed in a heap on top of him. Jin relaxed and let his head rest back against the floor with one last laugh. Then he sighed and rubbed a hand tiredly across his face. This was a lot of energy for so early in the morning but he wouldn’t trade it for anything.

His breathing slowed a bit and Jin tilted his head slightly to search for his friend’s gaze. “Gwenchana?” he chirped, but Ahn-Bo-ah was a lot closer to him than Jin had originally expected. A soft blush heated his cheeks but the smile lingered. He reached up to poke his friend in the cheek. “This was your fault,” he teased, lightly.

Ahn-Bo Jeong
Ahn-Bo had tried his best not to land on anything fragile as they’d tumbled to the floor—but the bench wasn’t very tall, and the fall was over quickly—so he hadn’t managed to do much of anything. He’d landed on top of Jin with an “oof.” There would be some extra bruises on his legs by noon, but he wouldn’t complain one bit.

Their accident had brought them in a position reminiscent of when they’d tripped in that yomogi field. The first time Jin had touched his cheek in a way that was far more than friendly. Beneath him, Jin laughed. Ahn-Bo huffed a laugh himself, ”Ne.” He was perfectly fine, but was Jin-a? It seemed like he was, but just to be certain,”Gwenchana?”

The tease was so Jin-a that Ahn-Bo laughed again. ”Ani, you’re the one who fell. I was just trying to catch you.” A lie—it was very much his own fault—but he wasn’t going to pass up an opportunity to flirt with his blushing simkung. He made to lift himself off the vampire’s chest—hopefully he wasn’t crushing him, but so far he seemed okay?—far more slowly than required. Just in case Jin-a wanted him there, and because he was reluctant to move.

Jin responded to Ahn-Bo’s inquiry into his own well being with a gentle “ne” that was more breath than it was sound. He was still warm from the flush of how close they were but he teased in an effort to dispel any awkwardness. It had been both their faults for goofing around but he snorted a slightly louder laugh at the ridiculous twist Ahn-Bo managed to find in the truth. “Oh I see,” Jin chirped, playing along. “I should be grateful then.”

The smile that tugged his left dimple into existence was endlessly amused, even as Ahn-Bo-ah made to peel off him. On impulse - or instinct, Jin wasn’t exactly sure which - he wrapped his arms around his friend’s shoulders in protest. “Anieyo,” he said softly. Ahn-Bo was larger than him, yes, and his shoulders had started broadening a few years ago to give him the full physique of a beater, but he wasn’t so big and heavy that he really crushed any part of Jin. At least not in a way the lithe little vampire was unwilling to be crushed.

Yeogi isseo,” he hummed, face heating more than before. But Jin held firm. They hadn’t been this close ever, other than the few little accidents that had prompted them to get to this stage in the first place. Even today hadn’t been particularly intentional, but Jin snuggled in anyway. Ahn-Bo-ah was warm and he was tired. He tugged his friend closer and pressed a sweet, sleepy little kiss against his lips. If something darted down Jin’s spine like a spark, he ignored it. Pointedly. (Before he embarrassed himself.)

Ahn-Bo Jeong
It was no secret that Ahn-Bo liked to crack jokes and tease. For some of their classmates, it had gotten old quickly. The majority of them just rolled their eyes unless he was particularly clever, which was when he might get a chuckle. Sometimes his jokes annoyed Jin-a, but most of the time he went right along with them. Even when he was annoyed, he still wouldn’t be able to hide a quirk of his lips or secretly amused huff. They were far too wrapped up in their sweet little bubble for that, though. ”Dangyunhaji,” he agreed innocently.

Just as he’d been hoping for, Jin wrapped his arms around him and kept him from pulling away. His heart fluttered again, a soft blush spreading from his cheeks to his ears. It wasn’t like Ahn-Bo had any intention to protest, but even if he had, the appearance of his friend’s dimple would have done him in. The quidditch player would have had to have been in a rare foul mood to deny Jin-a a single thing. The vampire had him wrapped around his little finger. It was all he could do to gaze moon-eyed and nod his understanding. Yes. He would stay here for however long Jin-a wanted.

The moment got even better-Jin pulled him closer. His sleepy, gold and green eyes were all Ahn-Bo could seem to see, and then he was being given another soft kiss. He sighed happily against the vampire’s lips as he returned the kiss. The feeling of Jin’s body beneath him, the infatuated look on his face as he stared up at Ahn-Bo. Gods, he was so lucky to have met him. And then he went back for another kiss, and another, nearly missing the tell-tale zip down his spine before it settled elsewhere. Ssi-bal he’d gotten too enthusiastic and needed to stop before this got truly embarrassing. As it was, the train was already firing up to leave the station.

Before he could decide what to say, there were footsteps bearing the classroom. And quickly. Heart pounding for an entirely different reason now, the quidditch player leapt to his feet and pulled Jin-a up right along with him. They scrambled to right the bench. When Sensei rounded the corner to poke her head in, Jin had been returned to his proper place on the bench and Ahn-Bo stood beside him, hands clasped innocently behind his back.

Dangyunhaji: “of course”

Ahn-Bo’s easy agreement and willingness to indulge Jin’s tug settled somewhere like a realization he should remember. It was a fleeting thought but it was warm and comfortable and would be a decent one to reach for the next time he felt self-conscious or started to doubt his best friend’s intentions. They were still rather gifted at misunderstandings on the important matters after all these years, even if they could finish one another’s thoughts without uttering a single word aloud.

They kissed for a few minutes, both trying to ignore the impulse of whatever their hormones were starting to suggest, but luckily— or maybe unluckily, depending on who you asked— they were interrupted by the sound of footsteps coming down the hall. Jin startled in the same instance as Ahn-Bo and they quickly righted themselves, Jin shoving himself onto the bench and leaning over his notebook like he’d been contemplating it all along. His cheeks were a touch warm from the fluster so he was careful to think of anything but his friend as he tried to shake it.

Sensei appeared with a slide of the traditional doors and while she seemed surprised to see them from the look on her face, she softened immediately. “Jeong-kun, Moon-kun— you’re here early. Practicing for midterms or skipping meals?” She hedged as she settled into her desk. “Both!” Jin chirped quickly in Japanese. “But I was also showing off the piano so Moon-ssi could see it,” he added more quietly, knowing she would be amused. And she was. And it was true, anyway!

Well off you trot then! Before you regret it from the hunger I can see scrawled all over your faces.” She gave them both an appraising, meaningful look that for a second Jin almost completely misinterpreted. His eyes grew a little bit wide and he froze as she laughed. “Ike!” She shoo’d to get them moving. And with that, Jin peeled himself off the piano bench and gathered his things, grabbing Ahn-Bo-ah by the sleeve and darting from the classroom. He was in such a rush he forgot the precious scarf.

But there would be time to recover that later. After he got over the mortification that Sensei definitely knew something more than she let on and seemed to be just fine about it.
