RE: bloom where you’re planted;; [Introductory Herbology] - Silas Merlion - September 11, 2025

The brusque words were leveled at him in a melodic accent, one that Silas couldn't quite place at first. The fellow Slytherin girl who spoke them looked rather exotic herself, or rather her airs made her seem as such. He couldn't yet decide if she deserved them or not. Some commoners with money seemed to think they deserved to be seen as respectable as a baron, when it was clearly not so.

"So it's a nursery rhyme?" he asked, still rather confused. Miss Gower's words had spoken volumes beyond a simple childish verse, and when she explained more, it left him unsatisfied. The girl might very well be living in her own world for as much as Silas could understand her. Which, for students at a magic school in a world of its own, that was getting rather peculiar.

"Would you sing it, please?" Silas asked, ever the chorister. If there was one thing he was eager for at Hogwarts, it was the music lessons he had quickly signed up for. Perhaps she would join as well, should her voice prove as thoughtful as her words. He would have expected that of her, Miss Gower had a singer's look to her, and every lullaby must have a tune. "I should rather sing than draw, myself."

Catching the smile of the Hufflepuff girl seated nearby, and there certainly were quite a lot of them in his classes, Silas returned it easily. He found it difficult to enjoy much at Hogwarts yet, between the unfamiliar beds and misguided. Finding kindness in other students was a balm for his soul.

RE: bloom where you’re planted;; [Introductory Herbology] - Ambrose Carrow - September 11, 2025

With the class settled in and going about their observations, Rory was pleased to float about and supervise. He heard a few of their comments and answered some questions (“Nothing will happen to them if you’d don’t, I promise they will remain under my care just the same,” and “No, it’s quite alright if the first years would like to claim their own too.”)

As chatter devolved into something about singing and drawing however, Rory moved over to that group and prodded them along in the right direction. “More focus on observation reports please, less on singing or…” he eyed the rather talented drawing one of the Ravenclaw girls had before her. “drawings.” (Though if she included the anatomy of her sproutling and submitted it with her report, he’d accept that too.)

RE: bloom where you’re planted;; [Introductory Herbology] - Poppy MacFusty - September 11, 2025

Poppy gave Georgianna Shacklebolt a grateful smile, nodding her understanding. Professor Carrow reassured her that nothing awful would happen to the plants, either. Well, that was a relief. She took a deep breath, feeling the tension release as she exhaled. It was a trick her father had taught her after realizing she had inherited some of her mother's nervous disposition. She returned to examining her plant, wiping its petals with a dry cloth and then a damp one. She didn't particularly know what it was she was supposed to be looking for, but she was writing about it anyway.

The others had gotten distracted (of which Poppy inwardly frowned, though outwardly had no reaction.) Of course, it was Alys Gower in the middle of it. Drawing again. She certainly liked to draw... though this one was quite pretty compared to the horrifying sketch she'd made at the sorting feast.

In her periphery, purple liquid had flown in her direction. She instinctively hopped out of the way, though Gia, unfortunately, had not. It had splattered in her hair and on her robes. Poppy grimaced on the second year's behalf, "Are you alright, Miss Shacklebolt?" Not that there was much she could to help her considering she didn't know any spells yet... though she handed her one of the cloths she'd been using on her plant in case Gia wanted to use it to clean off.

RE: bloom where you’re planted;; [Introductory Herbology] - Chloe Greene - September 11, 2025

Chloe looked up from watering her plant to see the aftermath of the plant's purple juice hitting Gia. "Oh no! Are you alright?" She hurried to ask her friend also bringing out a handkerchief but rather than offering it she get about trying to get the goo out of Gia's hair much like she would have with her younger sister.

RE: bloom where you’re planted;; [Introductory Herbology] - Alys Gower - September 12, 2025

Alys looked at Selene Gallivan and then at her two plants specimens in front of her. "This first one is called Gillyweed, and the one I am drawing is Valerian. I've never encountered Gillyweed before but it says here that if you eat it you can breathe under water." it was fascinating really and it made her curious what the reason for such a plant to exist was. Valerian was much more familiar to it. She was just taking in breath to recite the poem to Silas Merlion when the professor requested that they focus on their work with less distractions.

She continued her drawing while she spoke, her voice remaining soft. "Valerian is a plant associated with strength, its name coming the Latin Valere, meaning to be strong." she paused for a second and considered her teachings. "Plants all fall under Sandalphon, but the personality of the plant gives it strong ties to both Camael and the Yesod under Gabriel." she smiled. And did a doodle next to her plant drawing of the tree of tree of life, highlighting the relevant seriphot. She would add this to her report.

RE: bloom where you’re planted;; [Introductory Herbology] - Georgianna Shacklebolt - September 15, 2025

Gia was so excited. Miss MacFusty was proving to be a most wonderful addition to Ravenclaw, and it hadn't been a whole day! She was just thinking of how stunning her dormitory would be with Miss Greene's plant next to hers - she adored Miss Weasley, but doubted if keeping a plant alive would...suit her temperament.

Gia was all smiles with grand plans for the dormitory when she turned straight into something not meant to be in her face and hair. She covered her eyes reflexively, but something gooey was in her. In her hair. Eyes narrowing at the source of the eww, Gia pulled her shoulders back, her hands kept firmly at her side. Her face radiated her displeasure (and total lack of surprise) at the source of the projectile ick. What a sad, tiny, stupid little boy. Gia regretted immediately that it would be in poor form to strike Mr. Sidonia. It was unladylike and counter to her plans to secure a house cup victory. Didn't mean Gia couldn't imagine slapping him. She was imagining it loads of times.

Gia managed not to flinch when Miss Greene started wiping at her hair. Having someone touch her hair was absolutely not pleasant or welcomed, but Gia took a deep breath through her nose and focused on the purpose of the gesture. Miss Greene was a loyal, dear friend. If anyone had Gia's permission, it was Chloe Greene. Turning her attention and a thank you to Miss MacFusty, Gia offered her thanks and dabbed the mess from her cheek. "I am alright, thank you. Mr. Sidonia, on the other hand, is acting like a child. Again."

RE: bloom where you’re planted;; [Introductory Herbology] - Charles Hutton - September 16, 2025

There was so much back and forth that it was hard for Charlie to see who was speaking, but all he could focus on was trying not to count down the minutes (seconds) until he could leave. That was until Nacho decided to squirt some of his plant at poor Ms. Shacklebolt, or at least he assumed so because he'd missed what had actually happened - someone in his own house. One would think you'd at least be friendly with the people you lived with.

Charlie scrunched his nose like he’d stepped in something foul. “Ugh, Real clever,” he said, rolling his eyes so hard it was a wonder they didn’t stick that way. Mama had warned him about that. “What are you, five? Even toddlers know better than to throw stuff at people.” He frowned at the other. Surely Mr. Carrow would be deducting points because he was being so rude.

RE: bloom where you’re planted;; [Introductory Herbology] - Ignacio Sidonia - September 17, 2025

Nacho sighed when it seemed the Slytherin girl had no interest in him or his ideas. The juice squirting on Shacklebolt had been purely accidental but he couldn’t have picked a better target if he’d tried. She was so annoying with the way she went on and on all the time. It served her right to get a little juice in her hair to match the brown on her nose.

Turning back to his figs, Nacho ignored everyone else. (He pulled a face at Shacklebolt and dismissed Hutton entirely.) He didn’t want Professor Woods to hear he was misbehaving in Herbology but defending himself seemed fruitless against so many imbeciles. Papa was right. Maybe only a certain type of student should be allowed at Hogwarts. (Whatever that means.)
