This star map certainly wasn't as extravagant as the one he had done independently, but it was no less beautiful. She loved the way the colors mixed, the blues and purples forming a beautiful starlit sky. "Do you think you could paint mine one day? I could trade you for it...?" What he would want she didn't know, but it would bring her great joy to look at such pretty colors whenever she felt like.
"You chose the colors," she reminded him. "It's just as much you as it is magic. I certainly don't have an eye for it."

Maybe it was his frequent exposure to beautiful artwork, or the way he'd been taught to always do better and never accept a work as his best, but he found himself discounting her words as they left her mouth.
"You don't need to do anything for me," he spoke, as though his work was worth none of her time. He could do what he'd just done in a few minutes, no more than ten. He enjoyed it, anyways; it would be good practice. "I'd be happy to."

"But I insist," she persisted. The supplies alone had to cost a pretty penny, and while the Evermonde's didn't seem to be hurting financially Alice was too prideful to accept charity. "I'm an excellent tutor. I could help you with some classwork? Arithmancy, maybe?" He shared that class with her from what she remembered.

He wasn't about to turn their friendly exchange into an argument, so although he didn't believe he struggled in any particular class to the point of needing tutoring, he was willing to let her assist her. Mostly. "Maybe Potions would be a better class—unless you struggle there, too?" he asked, smiling.

She grinned. Potions would be a breeze to assist him with. "Oh, no. I can help with potions if you need." Truthfully, Alice didn't think he was struggling (she tended to notice those whose potions exploded everywhere) but it wasn't her place to judge his aptitude. "I'm free tomorrow evening before supper if that fits your schedule?"
