RE: Free Falling - Archelaus Abney - January 2, 2021

Miss Potts continued to show her ignorance of an upper class mans lifestyle in the most amusing way possible. And Archelaus didn't have an inclination to enlighten her with all the duties that actually came with being a notable families eldest son. She was never going to have to deal with that unless she marrie a man of means and that wouldn't be his business now would it?

He actually laughed out loud when she flushed a brillant red. "That's quite all right. And Merlin, that was some time ago, wasn't it?" If he was remembering correctly, she had not even been a first year yet but rather looking forward to her first year.

RE: Free Falling - Calla Potts - February 2, 2021

Her blush faded to some extent, though pink still tinged her face. She could only ignore it and act as if it wasn't happening, so she plunged on as if there wasn't heat in her cheeks. "You could certainly say so.  I was barely eleven at the time. It feels both like yesterday and forever ago. You've certainly grown up as well, " she added, happy to move the topic back off herself and her fumbling fanatics. But it was true. He'd have just been out of third-year when she met him. "You were the age I am now. I can only imagine how fast time will have felt for you by the time you graduate. It is such a significant time in our lives yet in the whole picture, such a short amount of time."

"Mm, quite fast," Archelaus said in agreement. Honestly, he was ready for what came next. Whether he went the usual route as a first son of a very wealthy family or ended up a professional Seeker. He was outgrowing Hogwarts, he supposed, but he would miss some aspects of it. "It is also our most innocent time, I think. Even for those of us that aren't much so." Kristoffer Lestrange, Rupert Bingham and similar was what he was referring to. "We are all mixed in together here but won't be out beyond Hogwarts. It's almost sad."

RE: Free Falling - Calla Potts - February 10, 2021

"More than kinda - it is," Calla voiced, shifting her weight back and forth from foot to foot. "I think it is a really good thing that Hogwarts continues to do this. I know before there has been a push for each class to have separate dorms, but I really hope they don't. This is the only time we really ever get to see walks of life that aren't our own and get a personal, up-close look at those we would otherwise think of others. Maybe it gives us a sense of understanding and empathy we wouldn't otherwise have."

"I would have never met you had it not been for Hogwarts - unless you ever came to buy flowers, but even then it wouldn't have been like this. Your life is something I will never experience, and mine is not one you will. But I've also met and gotten to know those poorer than me. Who, at home, struggle to know what they'll eat the next day and I might have lived my life without knowing that. In the long run, we can't continue that. We'll grow up and move on, but there are parts of us that won't forget these things. I think it makes us better people if we let it."

RE: Free Falling - Archelaus Abney - March 6, 2021

Miss Potts went off on a kind of tangent that Archelaus did his best to politely listen to. He would personally love to have separate dorms. He definitely had developed some sort of empathy, he supposed. He no longer thought women were as useless as he had when he was ten or something. "I quite agree but for now, I must leave you to your musings. I think dinner will be starting soon."
