"I most certainly would," Jack said with a grin in response to the girls exclamation. The dance was coming to an end but he was going to be sure to keep his promise and perhaps send her a letter along with the tickets. "It was a pleasure to dance with you, Miss Farley," he said as the music swelled to a close and he bowed to her.

Jemima beamed at him, finding nothing - remarkably, for a young man! - in his features that suggested any insincerity in his words. Oh, she did hope he meant it, and that Mr. Humphrey-Mavis had proper integrity.
“The pleasure was all mine,” Jemima added brightly, cheeks pink with said pleasure as she curtseyed back and fought the urge to scramble away to her friends’ side to dissect every moment of the dance. (That would not look the least bit dignified.) She smiled as they went their separate ways, having quite forgotten that Mr. Humphrey-Mavis had, in the beginning, not intended to dance with her at all.
