RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Fitzroy Prewett - June 9, 2024

Mrs. Pendergast, whose charm sputtered out, and Mrs. Greengrass were the contestents dismissed following the first round. Fitz made a mental note to tell his siter-in-law how well she performed; indeed, it was a pity the judges did not make their scores public.

"Next," he announced,"shall be a demonstration of your transfiguration skills. Given how talented you all are at charms," Fitz added with a charming smile, "I shall expect quite the show!"

Your character has 72 hours to post their transfiguration casting, after which the round will be scored. If everyone posts, the lowest two will be eleminated.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - November Malfoy - June 9, 2024

The life upon her yellow hair but not within her eyes--
The life still there, upon her hair--the death upon her eyes.

Nova was quietly pleased with herself that she hadn't been dismissed in the first round.

This time she took for herself a vase which she attempted to transfigure into a small but (hopefully) ornate gothic-style water fountain.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Ife Gbadamosi - June 9, 2024

Ife would have liked to have transfigured one of her competitors for this display, but she expected the judges would frown upon that. Animagi transformations were disallowed also, but that didn't mean she couldn't nod to hers. She transfigured the fan into a pangolin, which proceeded to waddle over menace the skirt of Lucy Hutton.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Evelyn Abercrombie - June 9, 2024

Her success in the first round came rather as a surprise; Evelyn was more than a little rusty in her wandwork, preferring to leave the bulk of her magic use to those hired for the occasion. Oh, a small mending, a charm to delight the children, was well and good, but impressive was not in her wheelhouse—not for something like this.

Keep it simple, she thought to herself as she readied for her transfiguration attempt, an effort to turn a dried bouquet into a small flock of butterflies.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Rufina Mulciber - June 9, 2024

Historically, Rufina had not done half so well with transfiguration as with charms. Knowing this round could well be your undoing, the witch focused her attentions on transforming a bettle to a button, though rather a more ornate one than those accomplished by first years at Hogwarts.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Angelica Selwyn - June 10, 2024

Angelica found basic transfiguration to be a blunt tool in comparison to the razor blade of conjuration, but it was not her rule to set. Smothering a laugh at the strange creature now waddling toward Miss Huton, Angel focused on her own work. Taking a china saucer, Angelica turned her magical attention to a saucer to statuette transfiguration.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Adrienne Lestrange - June 10, 2024

Pleased that she got past the first round, Adrienne tried for something a bit more complex, and attempted to transfigure her flowers into a flock of pearly white doves.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Hope St.John-Black - June 10, 2024

Hope was proud of herself for advancing among so many much more advanced witches. Taking some ribbons, she transfigured them into a colorful array of songbirds.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Laurel Potts - June 10, 2024

Laurel knew that color changing was technically a part of transfiguration but she rather believed that it would not be enough. There was a particular favorite of her's that she'd practiced endlessly as a girl and still did successfully to this day to the endless delight of her granddaughters. "Herbifors." Laurel cast, pointing her wand at her hair as she often did when in the company of Potts children, intending to turn her brown locks to flowers as she did for them.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Lucy Hutton - June 10, 2024

In the gardens at home she had several rose bushes that held a spot in her heart. Often she coaxed them to grow with a rose growth transfiguration spell, but seeing no roses among the props set out Lucy had to consider a second option. She was pulled from her thoughts by a weird shelled creature crawling around her skirts. With what was likely more fear and surprise than she would have liked Lucy cast, "Vera Verto!" Anything to get the creature away from her, and hopefully into a water goblet.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Marie-Louise Prewett - June 10, 2024

It was almost daily that Malou had to untransfigure something. Surprising the amount of people who wanted to switch animals to inanimate objects, or themselves into something else. She'd especially been baffled by the young man who'd managed to switch his ear to a cactus. But reparifarge was hardly the type of spell that would work in such a situation. She rather thought the other contestants would object if she were to undo their hard work after all.

She could, Malou considered, transfigure something into non-being, a state in which the object then became everything, as was the case when one cast a vanishing spell. Mind made up she cast a nonverbal Evanesco to vanish a chair.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Benevolence Crouch - June 10, 2024

smiling to herself she took her place with the other ladies who had made to the next round. Nev took her place behind the little table that contained the rather sad little twig that was to be the subject of her transfigurative efforts. She stood before it, and when directed she tapped the wand and flicked her wrist, hoping to transform someones sad little office plant into something else. Hoping her spell would see it glow and grow into a shimmering beautiful hot house lily.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Seraphina Bythesea - June 11, 2024

One round down; three to go. Sera took one of the teacups she had been charming and moved to transfigure it to a gerbil.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Zelda Darrow - June 11, 2024

Zelda had always been most confident in transfiguration, and was rather excited for this round. She eyed the doll in front of her yet again and moved to transfigure it into a heron; the white skirts of its dress had inspired her.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Fitzroy Prewett - June 11, 2024

Social standing, Fitzroy noted privately as Mrs. Mulciber, Mrs. Abercrombie, and Mrs. Malfoy were dismissed, was not an predictor of skill in this particular arena. He was genuinely impressed by the efforts of the women before him as he congratulated those remaining.

“Now,” he continued, “you must engage in a deception of the senses as you demonstrate your skill with illusion!”

Your character has 72 hours to post their illusion casting, after which the round will be scored. If everyone posts, the lowest two will be eleminated.

RE: Older Dog, Fancy Tricks (Matrons Spellcraft 1894) - Ife Gbadamosi - June 11, 2024

Of course Ife had never expected to be removed in the Transfiguration round, but she was disappointed all the same; she had hoped her pangolin would have caused a little more chaos before being dispatched. Mrs. Hutton had a steady hand, it seemed.

Since she had the benefit of performing first, she decided to use a large swath of the available space to make the stage appear as an overgrown garden, sporting several massive jungle plants — a slight nod towards Callista's interests and also to her homeland.
