The potion shifted to its intended shade of blue, and Elijah knew his work was done. From an appearance perspective, at the very least, he had achieved the colour and consistency necessary for an everlasting elixir, but only time (and professor Valenduris) would tell if it was wholly successful.
Confident in his chances, though, Elijah stepped back from his cauldron, a smug smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Meticulously, Idunn counted out the correct number of stirs. Though the redhead's hands itched to experiment, to put her own spin on things, her head knew better—class was not the time for creativity, much though she yearned for it.
The tell-tale blue glow of her potion was her reward, such that it was, and Idunn was quite confident she had done the job well indeed.
'Excellent job everyone' Meserimus clapped and did his final tour of the potions to assess the various attempts by his students. He nodded thought fully for each one. In the end, no one had done terribly. The mediocre potions had been salvaged, and would all the examiners muster for the year end exams he was sure of that.
Miss Slughorn had done exceptionally well, he wasn't sure she was going to be able to pull that one back, but indeed she had. Meserimus was truly impressed. Miss Fraser had also done well but that didn't surprise him anymore. He vanished the remains of the potions. 'Well done everyone,' he commended and dismissed the class for a well deserved lunchbreak.
