Born August 10'th, 1855 in California, on the West Coast of the United States. The Colton Family moved from California to Texas when Silas was ten years old, with Silas' father taking on a position as a "frontier lawman" in the West; protecting the population against threats from magical creatures & dark wizards. In 1870, The Colton Family moved from Texas to New York City when Silas' father accepted a promotion within MACUSA, and the Colton Family remains there to this day.

Silas attended Iilvermorny School of Witchcraft & Wizardy beginning in 1867, and graduated at the top of his class in 1874. Within six months, he was employed as an Auror with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, serving within the Department until 1880 before accepting a position as a "Special Agent" with the Federal Bureau of Covert Vigilance & No-Maj Obliviation.

In 1889, at 34 years of age, Silas was sent to the United Kingdom to retrieve a fugitive captured by the British Ministry of Magic & return the dark wizard to the United States to stand trial for murder. During his brief stay, Silas met the woman who would eventually become his wife. In a move which shocked his family, Silas tendered his retirement with MACUSA shortly thereafter.

Now, in 1892, Silas resides in Hogsmeade with his beloved and has recently accepted a position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardy as the Professor of Muggle Studies. With almost 15 years of experience in Field Operations as an Auror & Obliviator in America, he is highly qualified, and has been vocal about a certain fascination with Muggle Psychology, Culture, and Technology. In his classroom at Hogwarts, he maintains what he calls his "laboratory": a collection of intriguing (and entirely mundane) technological crafts gathered from both the U.K. and the United States.
