Childhood
Born into a wealthy pureblood family, Malcorvus was raised to be the head of the Flint family. From the time he could talk, he was taught the skills he would need to be a proper gentleman and a prime example of Pureblood elitism. He was a few years old before his first sibling was born, followed by several more siblings, the last being born when Malcorvus left home to attend Hogwarts.
Hogwarts years: 1838-1845
Malcorvus was sorted into Slytherin and soon become quite popular among his fellow Slytherins. Respected and admired he easily fell into a leadership role in his first year. In subsequent years he was named Prefect then later Head Boy of Slytherin in his 7th year. Malcorvus excelled not only academically but also in sports. He was a Beater on the Slytherin Quidditch team and later became Captain, a position he held till he finished his NEWT years.
Adulthood:
After graduating Hogwarts, Malcorvus traveled for several years, seeking more training in magic to further increase his skill and knowledge. He was drawn to learning Dark Magic but didn’t shun other forms of magic, expanding his knowledge of ancient runes and many much more rarer forms of magic, some thought lost to history.
During these first few years travelling he studied and became an Animagus, succeeding in changing into a European black kite. In his kite form Malcorvus looks very much like a typical example of the species with slightly darker marking on his left wing near the shoulder. These match a birthmark he has on his shoulder which only a few people know of. Some may remember it from his time at Hogwarts where he would swim in the lake on warm days.
After returning to England, Malcorvus took up a position at the Ministry in the Department of International Magical Cooperation in 1850. Given how much he enjoyed travelling he felt it would be an ideal position. He enjoyed being sent to many different countries to interact with local Ministries of Magic and ensure cooperation in many areas.
Malcorvus also caught the attention of the Knights of Walpurgis while he was in Germany and rose quickly in their ranks. Despite his frequent travels he had little trouble spreading his influence within the Knights and elsewhere. Wherever he was sent by the Department of International Magical Cooperation, Malcorvus made friends and many allies among the most elite of the purebloods of each country. In fact he made it a point to be on good terms with them. His strongest connections were among the wealthy purebloods of Germany, Italy, Romania (and its Principalities), Prussia, and India.
In 1853 Malcorvus met Joscosta during her debut ball and quickly fell in love with her. They married less than a year later, in the spring of 1854. He stayed home long enough to see his son Thaddeus born before work sent him abroad once more. Malcorvus did his best to be home as often as he could between assignments so he could help raise his son and ensure he wasn’t an only child. In this he was successful as he had another son then two daughters in the years to come.
As he advanced in the Department of International Magical Cooperation, Malcorvus wasn’t sent abroad as often, which gave him more time to spend with his family and continue his research into advanced magic. In 1880 he was offered a position with the Wizengamut, an offer he accepted readily. It allowed him more free time to focus on his personal interest and continue his plans for the future.
After the assignation attempt on the Queen in 1877, Malcorvus took steps to ensure he and his family would be protected from any Muggle reprisals. Malcorvus made the Flint Estate in London Unplottable and set up other magical protections to keep any other unwanted guests from entering his home. Eventually the magical community and Queen Victoria reconcile but this didn’t change Malcorvus’s mind about making his home inaccessible to Muggles.
While his son was in Germany, Malcorvus joined him there and used his influence to induct Thaddeus into the Knights of Walpurgis. Not long after Malcorvus succeeded in gaining approval to form a new branch of the Knights in England with himself as Grand Sage. A few members from abroad move to London as well to help establish the new branch. Eventually some return to mainland Europe leaving vacancies to be filled by local pureblood wizards.
In 1890 his beloved wife Jocosta died quietly in her sleep. Malcorvus was aware she hadn’t been feeling herself but her passing still came as a shock. He felt torn right down to his soul and it was the biggest struggle of his life to not show how hard her death affected him. The funeral was lavish and everything one would expect for somebody truly loved. It was the moment his wife was put into the earth Malcorvus lost his stony façade, sheading a few tears before he managed to regain control of himself. Once his time of mourning was over he quickly returned to business as usual, burying himself in his work and personal projects.
Still recovering from the loss of his wife, Malcorvus decided to retire from the Department of International Magical Cooperation. He buried himself in his academic interests and founded the Flint Institute of Advanced Magic in 1891, wanting to give the opportunity for other purebloods to improve their magical knowledge. It was also the perfect front for the England branch of the Knights and gave him access to the most powerful magical minds within the Pureblood community.
He passed on the administrative and leadership of the Flint Institute to his son Thaddeus not long after the school was established, leaving himself free to focus on his own academic research. Malcorvus still has influence in the school however and does personally teach a select group of students. Malcorvus wanted to ensure the best minds and more accurately the purest bloodlines had access to all they deserved by right of blood. Also, he could see which of these students would do well as members of the Knights of Walpurgis. Not all those he teaches will become members of the Knights of Walpurgis but it is his hope to influence pureblood families to ensure their traditions and way of life thrived.
