Did You Know?
Queen Victoria was known for putting jackets and dresses on her pups, causing clothing for dogs to become so popular that fashion houses for just dog clothes started popping up all over Paris. — Fox
It would be easy to assume that Evangeline came to the Lady Morgana only to pick fights. That wasn't true at all. They also had very good biscuits.

Appearance
Appearance isn't everything, but it's something Delight has grown to value over the years. The thought of leaving the house looking less than perfectly presentable is enough to instill fear into her heart, even if she has no plans to impress anyone. She is average and height though too slender to be considered fashionably curvy. Her outfits—even her Ministry robes that she spends most of the work week in—are neat, tidy, and without a single wrinkle.

She is as fond of accessorizing as any debutante, though she prefers ornamental wand handles to pearls and her magical pocket watch to a parasol. She is very much her mother's daughter: she has brown skin, dark eyes, her dark curls that are regularly restyled to fit her mood. Still, if one were to set her beside her father, they would notice a number of similarities in their features. Despite a preference for her left hand, Delight is capable of using either.
History
1871 | Delight is born to Balthazar Urquart and Mary Adams in Georgia, USA, and due to laws preventing their marriage she is technically a bastard. She is not treated as one, though, and is loved deeply by both of her parents despite their precarious situation.

1872 | Her parents return to Britain, presenting themselves as a married couple and Delight as their perfectly legitimate daughter. The Urquarts disinherit Delight's father for marrying a halfblood and former maid, and their family drops to the middle class.

1873 | Delight's parents finally marry in a private ceremony. Mary gives birth to a set of twins, Ruby and Topaz, later in the year, and Delight takes the role of older sister very seriously.

1875 | Mary delivers another child, this time a boy named Sebastian. There is less of an appeal in a younger brother, but she does not less him any less than she ought to. She especially enjoys pretending he is her baby and that Ruby and Topaz are hags out to eat him.

1879 | Papa's papa dies, and Delight only knows because she was eavesdropping on her parents' conversation (which is bad, she knows, and she definitely feels the guilt of it later). She does not ask questions about her mysterious extended family, but there are plenty she wants to ask. She knows of Aunt Evelyn, of course, but she has a vague knowledge of others she's never met.

1880 | The Urquart family packs up their London home and move to the village of Hogsmeade.

1882 | After a successful shopping trip that leaves her with a new pet owl, Delight departs for Hogwarts. For nearly two minutes the hat struggles to decide where to sort her, shifting back between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, but eventually decides Hufflepuff will suit her needs best. And it does; Delight is immediately enamored of the common room, and soon of the friends she makes. She takes to her classes without much difficulty, with only one or two classes she requires tutoring in.

1884 | Papa is elected Minister for Magic, making the Urquart children a clear topic of conversation when Delight returns for her third year with Topaz and Ruby in tow. Ruby is sorted into Gryffindor, and Topaz into Ravenclaw, allowing the twins to grow as their own people. With the need to add electives to her roster, Delight selects Muggle Studies and Care of Magical Creatures.

1885 | The day her mother dies is not a day Delight is quick to forget, and what she remembers most is the shock of it. Death by an adder? Of all the things that could kill a woman, a snake seems the least expected culprit. The eldest daughter, Delight responds to the sudden emptiness of a mother figure in the household by trying to fill it. It is a short-lived effort, though, because she does not possess the emotional capacity to fill her mothers shoes or even pretend to.

1886 | Delight is appointed prefect, which provides the first spark of happiness, of hope. It is a role she does not struggle to fill, and she does so enjoy taking private baths in the prefect bathroom! Meanwhile Papa takes to securing a wife, which makes little sense to Delight despite her reluctance to voice it (unlike Ruby and Topaz, who go overboard with the complaints). At fifteen, thirteen, and eleven, all of the Urquart children are Hogwarts-aged and no longer rely on a mother as a role model as they once had.

1887 | Delight takes her OWLs in the spring. In the summer Papa is abandoned at the alter by Miss Adelia Lovegood. She cannot say she is sorry that the match went awry, but she still feels embarrassed oh his behalf. The feeling does not linger for long, though—not when more urgent matters require her attention. Topaz is bitten by a werewolf, and although the family goes through great lengths to prevent Topaz's condition from becoming public knowledge, the papers find out. Papa faces pressure to resign from his position and does so, leaving the family in a state of disgrace. She returns for her sixth year, distant, withdrawn, and with six classes to keep her mind busy.

1888 | In the summer Delight receivers her letter without the head girl's badge, which is not surprising in the least considering the events of the previous year. She is eager to get through seventh year and be done with it. She studies for NEWTs and avoids social situations, much as she did the year prior.

1889 | Delight graduates and skips the Coming Out Ball, feeling as though she would only embarrass herself. Besides, she has far more important plans than seeking a husband in a sea of men who probably have no desire to marry her anyways. She applies for a position in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes once her NEWT scores arrive and is eventually hired. She likes to work; it gives her a sense of purpose. Her coworkers are more worried about how she performs her duties than they are her family history, but that does not mean it goes unnoticed. She is forced to stumble through a number of conversations regarding her connection to the former Minister, and subsequently about her sister—who, yes, still lives with them, and who, no, Delight does not live in fear of. Fortunately the interrogations become less frequent in time, and soon everyone who's ever had questions has answers. It helps that Papa goes back to work as the head of the Department of Mysteries, so people are less willing to gossip about him openly.

1890 | While helping investigate a case of a muggle's death at the hands of a cursed object on her department's behalf, Delight somehow triggers the curse's effects and is sent to the hospital. While she is able to leave after a mere day in the artifact incidents ward, she is informed by a healer that the curse—while not deadly—is likely to cause her complications down the line. She does not tell her family.

1891 | Her twentieth birthday comes and goes without much of a fuss. Ruby approaches graduation. Sebastian prepares to take his OWL exams. Delight begins to find herself anxious about her future.
Personality
Even-tempered. Cautious. Always willing to voice her opinion. Determined. Defensive. Wary of anyone who gives even the slightest indication of being prejudiced. Fiercely protective of her family, especially her younger sisters. Wants to make the world a better place.
Other
SKILLS
  • Languages: English. Though once taught French, Delight now only remembers common phrases.
  • Feminine Skills: While an effort was once put into educating her in all of the feminine art forms, Delight's retained very little of them into adulthood. She could sew if required to, and can play basic tunes on the pianoforte, but she's shifted into more practical interests.
  • Magical Abilities: Impressive in her charm work, but less so in dueling due to the anxiety that someone pointing their wand at her triggers.
TRIVIA
  • Boggart: A werewolf—presumably Topaz—lying dead on the ground.
  • Patronus: A sheep. She mastered the charm while still at school.
  • Amoretentia: TBD.
  • Her preferred form of transportation is apparition, and she refuses to use portkeys because of the motion sickness.
