Did You Know?
Queen Victoria was known for putting jackets and dresses on her pups, causing clothing for dogs to become so popular that fashion houses for just dog clothes started popping up all over Paris. — Fox
It would be easy to assume that Evangeline came to the Lady Morgana only to pick fights. That wasn't true at all. They also had very good biscuits.

Now that the professor had just announced to the class that this particularly bullied student had just negated the efforts of another Slytherin, Clue could look forward to some extra bullying in the common room this evening. And in the meantime, he contented himself with merely getting through it, unable to be anything but his very strange little self.

He continued to glean new knowledge about this curious African beast, the Streeler, and wondered what it might be like to have one as a pet.

Holly turned around, in full view of the class, and glared at her house-mate. If the stupid fifth year was more interested in talking than learning, perhaps he could've saved his parents some galleons by dropping out sooner! She'd give him a piece of her mind later...

Holly raised her hand again, hoping to regain the points her housemate had so carelessly lost. All was in vain, however, because Pippy Potts had the right answer and not her. She lowered her hand reluctantly and crossed her arms over her chest.

Ricky did not see herself as a very strict teacher. She had given a warning right before the boy got himself into trouble. It was as if he was intentionally disrespecting her. What was she supposed to do with that? Ignore him and loose any remaining respect she might have as a female professor? She wasn't about to take that garbage. What was more, she had no control over if students decided to be idiotic bullies. It was the boy's choice to speak out during class in a disrespectful manner. Actions had consequences. He could not blame her for his own misfortune, and she would resent him if he tried.

Both of the girls to be called on had excellent points. It would be a shame to only give one points when both had earned it. Thus making her feel even guiltier about Miss Scrimgeours loose. "Five points to Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, for Miss Pott's and Miss Lestrange's equally excellent guesses." A certain amount of pride could be felt when her students had so many good answers. Especially ones that were only prompts of speculation. Learning to observe the world and determine what makes sense and what does not. "One more question before I hand out todays homework assignment. Can anyone tell me how large the average Streeler can grow to become?"

Holly scowled, mildly perturbed that both Pippy and Meta were getting points, but then she had another opportunity. She raised her hand swiftly to answer the question.

"They get... big," she answered lamely. "Giant, really. They get much larger in their natural habitat than in captivity, though."

Maybe she'd get ten points for being twice as useful as everyone else. She obviously deserved it after what the stupid boy had done.

Both ends of Meta's mouth were pulled to a smile. She was more used to losing house points than earning them. She kind of liked being a rebel but still, earning house points did make her happy. Especially when Holly Scrimgeour's points had been lost.

The Slytherin was now grasping at straws to get some points awarded to her. How pathetic she was! She had obviously peeped into their textbook to find that ingenious answer. Holly Scrimgeour thought herself so smart but really she was just a parrot who repeated whatever she had read in books.

Meta decided to antagonize Holly a bit and she raised her hand. When she was called upon, she asked: "What is big, though? I mean, horses are big. And dragons are even bigger. And some dogs are bigger than other dogs. So is a streeler big as a horse, a dragon, or a big dog when you say big, Miss Scrimgeour?" She turned to their professor and added: "I was confused, professor!"

Alcyone bit the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing in response to Miss Lestranges questions and managed to keep a straight face. Miss Lestrange did have a point though - how big was large? She was genuinely interested to know just how big one of these snail things could get. It was kind of creepy to think of them the size of an elephant. Her attention was on the professor, waiting to see what she was going to say.

The only thing worse than having her points lost was being openly challenged in class, and by none other than Meta Lestrange. Holly turned her head and flashed the Gryffindor a nasty look. "Large enough to send you running for the hills," she snapped, tightening her arms across her chest. "Like a large dog."

Aleksei continued to take note on what they were being told about Streelers. The exchange between two girls distracted from continuing with that, though. He waited for the professor to respond to what the girls were saying.

aleksei is non-binary. in ooc narrative, aleksei goes by they/them, IC people would percive them as he/him

While Ricky was not a fan of how Miss Scrimgeour had made a snide comment towards a fellow student, time was running out and homework needed to be handed out. "An excellent point, Miss Lestrange. Five points to both Gryffindor and Slytherin for the answered question and the willingness to politely challenge the answer for academic clarity." With a wave of her wand, the homework gently landed on each desk that a student sat in. "Homework is due next week."

It was amusing, that the word 'academic' had been used to describe something Meta had done. Even the Gryffindor was perfectly self-aware that she wasn't particularly academically inclined. Still, the professor's words pleased her immensely.

With quick carelessness, Meta put her homework in her bag and as soon as they were dismissed, she left the classroom. She made sure to give Holly Scrimgeour a smug smile before she departed.

Before Maddy knew it, the homework was on the desk before her—homework for a lesson that, if she was not very much mistaken, she had slept through. Feeling rather embarrassed, the Gryffindor hastily scooped up her things and proceeded to her next lesson.
