- Though he has been graced with his father's genes in the way of height - above average for a fourteen-year-old, Theodore has already begun to tower over his peers - but his colouring is a continuous reminder of his dead mother. With his shock of dark hair, though, he has always feared that people - having seen the family - would assume dark-haired Veronica was his true mother despite the fact she is hardly old enough to have been. He has a grand smile when it appears, but the other half of the time his mouth is set in a stubborn pout. Theodore is a bit of a beanpole, though he isn't frail or gangly enough to be knocked off his broomstick with any ease, he claims. He is right-handed.
- As a young child, there was no unhappiness or strife in Theodore's life. His parents were loving, he grew fond of his younger sister two year later, nothing ever seemed out of the ordinary. He had his fun, time to learn and time to play, happily adjusted to the muggle world they lived in. Things changed when he was eight. His parents had gone out to a dinner, he and Cecily had been sent to bed. But it didn't seem as though either of their parents would ever come home. Their mother never did. It had felt like an era, that tense period of just not knowing, not knowing where or why or what or how... Theodore was torn when their father returned home alone, so relieved he could cry and yet so nauseous with grief all the emotion had congealed into one hard lump in his throat. For the first time, he just couldn't understand. Through it all, he didn't understand what had happened or why it had. They moved to the country estate, away from London. As if that was supposed to make memory of their mother's death less painful? And to top it all off, their father was a wizard. Magical. Theodore's first thought was why, then, hadn't their father been able to save his wife? If he would solve every other problem with a wand...
Theo was a wizard too. The prospect of attending Hogwarts School was a good distraction, and by the time he turned eleven, he seemed a well-adjusted, clever and charming boy again. He hadn't forgotten his mother, but he still had his father, made sure to look after Cee as best he could. She joined him in Ravenclaw two years later, and by then Theodore had a bunch of friends, lots of learning to do, sports to play. He started out as Chaser on the House Quidditch team in his second year, and as well as improving through practice, his father even bought him the best broom for it. While Teddy is hardly a spoilt child and is certainly grateful for generosity like that, he feels a little bitter, as though he is being bribed, for his father actually married that woman he was courting! Theodore couldn't believe it. What about mother, what about her memory? What did he need another wife for? It wasn't fair. And what did he need another son for? Little Nathaniel ... he even had his father's name - what if this was because Theo wasn't good enough? Another boy was unnecessary, as was another wife, and Theodore - whilst also blaming his father - resents them both for it.
Sample Roleplay Post:
- He is intelligent and desirous of knowledge, such that he was placed in Ravenclaw, and knows to work when work is called for. When he gets a little too engrossed in stubbornly trying to prove a point (particularly to his father and stupid step-mother), however, his focus on other things - such as schoolwork - slips. Quick-thinking and oft ready with a quip, Theodore is also quick-reflexed, athletic and active. Far from being a soulless bookworm, he enjoys spending time with close friends or playing games, and Quidditch is a good boost to his self-esteem as well as evidence that in the end, he is a born team player. Theodore usually strives to make people proud and please them just as much as himself, but when he is annoyed or upset he tends to mess things up, whether accidentally or deliberately. He would spend more time contemplating the future, for he likes sorting out the bigger picture and seeing possibilities, but he can occasionally be blinded by problems in the present that he doesn't yet realise he cannot fight. Being able to accept anything he sees as bad, miserable or downright awful is just beyond him.
All over the place.
