Did You Know?
Queen Victoria was known for putting jackets and dresses on her pups, causing clothing for dogs to become so popular that fashion houses for just dog clothes started popping up all over Paris. — Fox
It would be easy to assume that Evangeline came to the Lady Morgana only to pick fights. That wasn't true at all. They also had very good biscuits.

Dueling '90: Konstantin Fisk vs. Finnian Byrne
#1
January 5th, 1890 — Headquarters of the London Society for the Practice of Combative Magic
Tybalt hardly needed to bother with the rules now that it was the second round - and the competitive bracket of the tournament, no less. These fellows had both evidently duelled before.

Excellent. They probably had a good trick or two up their sleeves. "Mr. Fisk to begin, please!" Tyb prompted.

The competition generally got harder with each round but Kons rather thought he might have already gotten his hardest opponent along the way. He was quite sure he had duelled against the man in front of him before and Kons felt confident as he inclined his head and cast a confundus charm.

#3
Finnian had already cast one or two side-eyed grimaces at the onlookers before the duel begin. There were many rules about dueling competitions, but one of the less official ones that Finny thought ought to be observed (at least from his perspective) was 'one shall not challenge their boss in a duel'. It seemed like a recipe for disaster.

On one hand, if he lost, he might have Mr. Fisk mention it in passing, which was an annoying prospect in itself. On the other hand, if he somehow managed to defeat his boss, he might find himself under the microscope—and Finny hated being under the microscope. He was decent at his job, but he'd hate for someone to stand over his shoulder and point out his errors.

Anyways.

Finnian raised his wand and, most sensibly, cast a shield charm (not that a confundus charm could made Finnian any more dim-witted. He was already there).

A surprisingly strong shield charm meant Mr. Fisk's charm had no effect whatsoever.

Well, that was underwhelming for the audience.

Nevertheless, it was a start! "Mr. Byrne takes the first round, and can cast again!"

This wasn't going in the direction he'd expected, and he didn't know whether to glow with glee or to profusely apologize for embarrassing his boss. (Both, maybe? Should be let Mr. Fisk win? No, then he might really get a scolding.)

Finnian considered all the ways he could attack, but opted for a silencing charm. At least if Mr. Fisk was silenced he couldn't be blamed for an inadequate shield charm, right?

Konstantin was impressed: he had never really thought the other man had it in him to cast a competent shield, had in fact wondered why he was in this bracket, but he had clearly underestimated Byrne!

With renewed determination he cast a knock-back jinx.

#7
Silenced he may have been, but Byrne's preventative measure hadn't stopped Fisk from delivering a scorcher of a silent knockback jinx, sending his opponent flying off his feet.

Always the quiet ones, of course.

"And Mr. Fisk makes himself heard with that!" Tyb remarked gleefully. "A tiebreaker, then, if you will! Mr. Fisk to cast next."

Kons' chuckle went from silent to audible in the space of second but he hoped Byrne didn't think he was being smug. They were, after all, rather similar but for the fact that he was...well...successful.

Hoping to take the final round quickly Konstantin cast his patronus - usefully a startlingly large elk - that charged at the other man at speed, with any luck scuppering his next attempt.

Finnian stood up and brushed off his pants, feeling fortunate that he'd won the first round so he wouldn't have to end this duel on the floor. For the last round, he swiftly attempted to disarm Mr. Fisk.

Even the best disarming charm was no match for the spectacle of a Patronus, it had to be said, never mind the fact that Mr. Byrne's spell had shot off to the side and disarmed Tybalt inside. Grinning wryly, Tybalt waited until the silvery elk had dissipated before he went to scrape up his wand off the floor and make the final call.

"Mr. Fisk is the winner!"
