    Ernie Nuffer vs. October Lynch

Ah, two Slytherins up next. There was no doubt the stereotype was true and they were a determined lot, though he wasn't sure whether their shared house would make for more camaraderie or a more bitter rivalry.

"Mr. Nuffer to cast first," Hal announced, after going through the rules and formalities.

When the pairs had been announced and Ernie was invited to step up on the small dueling platform with Miss October Lynch, Ernie couldn't help but let out a little frustrated grunt. Despite the ruling that men and women were equal in this sort of thing, he couldn't help but feel the need to go easy on her because she was a girl—and a bourgeoisie, frilly one at that!

It was even worse when he had to come up with the first shot to fire towards his fellow Slytherin. After a swift moment of contemplation, Ernie lifted his wand. "Titillando!" he commanded, hoping to send Miss Lynch into a fit of giggles that only the tickling hex could possibly bring.

Most of her males in school tend to underestimate her because of her sex and Mr. Nuffer was the same as well despite being year mates. She did not mind though since they went easy on her and then later give the most priceless reactions when faced with defeat. Well, she had only won against some of her male club mates and once during competition –and that was back when they did ornate spells.

Her opponent was a good spell caster so she wasn’t really sure if she can beat him. After he fired his spell, the slytherin responded with a shield charm.

Mr. Nuffer's first spell had no effect whatsoever.

"Miss Lynch takes the first round," Hal said, stating the obvious, "and may cast next."
