Maybe she woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, or maybe it was the snide words Lestrange had had for her during quidditch practice - which had not gone well by any standard, for that matter - but Zadie had found herself in a terrible mood.

She hadn't felt like talking to people or grimacing through her teeth, and the sullen sulkiness brewing in her gut had made her lose her appetite for dinner. So, abruptly altering direction on the way to the Great Hall, she'd marched into a spare classroom, slamming the door behind her. She kicked at a table leg in unfocused irritation, deciding that she needed a distraction, one that wasn't trying to slip someone else's possession into her pocket as a way to calm down.

There was a duelling dummy in the room, which she pulled out to the front, and then paced away from it, racking her brains for some jinxes and hexes to practise. It probably wouldn't be as fun as getting to actually duel somebody - but it was something. Zadie did get a jolt of satisfaction to see the dummy hit in the chest by the knockback jinx.

She'd gotten so absorbed in this activity that she didn't notice the door opening. This time, the hex she shot out - supposed to do something with sardines? - narrowly missed the dummy; instead, it struck someone who was standing in the doorway. Oh dear.

Irene was looking for somewhere quiet to practice her dancing, after her gate crashing of the Hogwarts coming out ball last year, and the debacle that had been she was now well aware of how few of the dances of refined ladies she knew and she had taken it upon herself to practice so that she might be better prepared the next time she might have occasion to dance – not that she had managed to get a dance the last time, not before she had been scurried from the room by a well meaning teacher.

The classroom had seemed as good a place as any, and once she cleared the practice dummies out of the way she would have plenty of space to move. As she opened the door, instead of the quiet and empty classroom she was expecting there was blinding flash of green light, and for a second she thought she might be dead, a victim of the killing curse in the grounds of Hogwarts- now a ghost like her papa but as her vision cleared, and the spots stopped dancing in front of her eyes she realised that her assailant was Miss Pine, and she was still very much alive. She gave a small derisive snort through her nose, about to tell off her classmate for such careless hexing, but she never finished the snort, as a slimey, wet, foul smelling little fish was projected from her nose onto the classroom floor with a soft plop.

Irene gave a horrified and slightly dramatic screech, which caused another of the small dead animals to slide down her dress onto the floor! ’WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME?’ she demanded cupping her nose with her closed hands, trying to stem the tide of fish now rapidly descending her nasal cavity. One thing was for certain, there was no way this was lady like behaviour.

Winter was seeing Hestia staying at Hogwarts for the season. She didn't want to go to her aunt's home. It wasn't home. Distractions and adventure what were on Hestia's mind. Artie and Apollo seemed to be avoiding her. That was sad. She loved her siblings, despite their plans to run off together. It did hurt the young Gryffindor, but perhaps it was for the best.

Taking some time to herself seemed like a good thing, until she heard a yell. Curiosity and the need to help flooded her, so before she knew what she was doing, she rushed in. "What's wrong? Is everything fi-" she was saying, until her sentence met a quick end at the sight of the fish. Gasping, she stared at the two other girls. ... Slytherin girls. Holding back her fear of those in the house, she tried to piece together what happened, coming up with nothing.

Hestia has a scar from the Tigerpocalypse. The story is she got it from a flying tiger. She has also grown 4 inches this summer.
