Winter had always been Tensy’s favorite season. There was just something calming and pure about the crisp, icy winds and the sparkling blanket of white frost and snow that seemed to layer everything from the ground to the homes of rooftops to even the tallest of trees, almost as if it were wiping the slate of the world clean, offering a chance for change and newness. It was the perfect end to a year, in her opinion, the promise of hope and a fresh start on the horizon - not to mention, the festivity of the holidays was nearly always infectious - but even with that promise, that little bit of hope, it was still hard to ignore the fact that she would be entering the New Year with little to no solid marriage prospects in sight.

Once, she might have consoled herself that this was only her second Season, that she still had a few more years left before she would truly be considered a lost cause, but if there was anything the past year and a half had shown her, it was that she couldn’t afford to be. Her life was at stake - and if she wanted to have any sort of future at all, regardless of whom she married, being a lost caught just wasn’t an option. Was it fair? No, absolutely not - and she doubted that she would ever understand the reasoning behind her mother’s harsh actions (she didn’t even believe Circe would have gone to such lengths with her own daughter) - but that was the cold, harsh reality of it, and with each year gone and each Season unsuccessful, was one step closer to ending up just like poor Josie, and it was equal measures vexing and terrifying.

But no matter how daunting and unclear the future seemed to be, life still went on for the youngest Moody daughters, and they spent their time as they usually did as full-time debutantes. Though there was always the rare occasional day in which they had nothing to do, and as Tensy couldn’t pry Tilly away from the warmth of home, she’d elected to go by her lonesome, housekeeper in toe, to appreciate the winter day for herself with a walk through High Street. A fresh cover of snow layered the festive avenue as they leisurely strolled, ice crunching beneath their boots, weaving in and out of the throng of busybodies as they went about their day, many of whom looked to be getting a headway on their Christmas shopping list, if the bags and various parcels were any indication. The smell from Honeydukes was heavenly as they walked past, though a particular headline from a stand nearby made her pause in her tracks.

    “Herschel Dawlish Attacked Me…"

Tensy wasn’t usually an avid reader of Witch Weekly, only picking up the publication whenever there was something of interest to her or when one of her sisters mentioned it, but it was difficult to ignore the day’s header - especially when the gentleman in question was running for Minister! While she couldn’t be sure that the allegations against Mr. Dawlish were completely true, they were certainly convincing and described in thorough detail enough that Tensy’s eyes had widened in shock by the end of it.

Good heavens,” Tensy muttered to herself in quiet awe as she flipped the magazine closed. Regardless of how much truth there was to these scandalous accusations, one thing was for certain that it would definitely not bode well for his campaign - and with the election just around the corner, too!
