    Veni Vidi Vici Venice
    See Inside... Thread
Ginny sat on the veranda of the beautiful Venetian town house that had been appointed for their use for this portion of their trip.  There were no balls, or plays or operas this evening, their first ‘quiet’ evening since leaving England, such had been the arranged delights of the trip that Ginny had hardly had time to notice how busy she had been.  It had also been nice to be able to go to balls and dances and not have her mother hover over her shoulder at all times trying to get her to dance with any young man who stood still long enough.  It was only now was she realising just how much pleasure in socialising she had lost due to her mother’s incessant machinations.

The enchanted veranda offered two different views of the city, to the right was the muggle city scape, to the left, where the enchantment cut the veranda in half it overlooked the magical portion of the city where house elves punted along the canals rather than the striped shirted gondoliers of the muggle portion.  To the muggles in the canal below the house stood on a dead end in the winding waterways and it was not possible to get from the muggle to the magical portions save through a small hat shop that appeared to be almost always closed.

The sun was setting over the riverways, and Ginny pulled her white cape around her shoulders a little tighter, her red hair laying in stark contrast over the sleek white material, and mink fur trim.  The doors into the small sitting room beyond were open, after the dinner the group had dispersed to read or play cards, a restful evening in the midst of their adventures.  Someone was playing the piano forte –rather well in fact and the sonata was a pleasant backdrop to the evening sky

Their little group were very much a mixed bag, there were married, single, rich, and less so – it had given Ginny rather a lot to think about.  She would have to decide what she wanted in life, she supposed-give in to her mother and marry, or accept spinster hood and all that came with it.  Neither was a particularly appealing prospect at the moment.  As she looked over the beautiful water ways of Venice, it was really rather hard to worry about it.
