Hair: That mess on your head
    #1
It was already November and while Claire started the school year with her hair braided back nicely, the braids had paid their dues and the carefully stitched hair was let free to breath resulting in the last two months of her hair going on the fritz. The mess that sat on the top of her hair was beyond anything she could do on her own now, brushing through the hair was one thing but it was as lifeless as any chance of her moving up in society.

Working her way around the room, Claire delicately made her way around the room trying to pay extra attention to the few girls that looked remotely like herself but more to those who had their hair done in such a way that showed they knew how to take care of their hair on their own. Spotting an older girl that looked like she was a walking piece of art, the younger Ravenclaw approached her as if the ground she was standing on was eggshells and bubbles. "Excuse me, but can you make me look pretty?" Reaching up to her own frizzy mess of hair, Claire tried to pat down the frizzled mess.

As was her habit, Ivory had occupied the common room in the hopes of getting her work done. The first year of NEWT classes was turning out to be a real challenge, but it wasn't anything she couldn't manage. In fact, Ivory liked that everything wasn't coming to her as easily as it once did. It meant she had to spend more time reading and practicing her skills, leaving her little time to ruminate on the unpleasantness of her life outside of school.

On this particular day, though, her usually razor sharp focus was drifting with frustrating ease. All it took was a second of distraction for her mind to start following tangents that all lead back to the same place: the school year was almost half way done and Christmas was coming up soon. It would be her first time staying at school for the holiday, her first Christmas without her parents. The notion was disheartening to say the least.

Suddenly, a younger student's question cut through her thoughts, stopping them before they could upset her further. "Hmm?" She blinked owlishly at the other girl while she processed the question. "Make you look pretty?" Considering the way she was touching her hair, Ivory could only assume she meant she needed help dealing with that. "Well ..." Ivory wasn't really doing anything at the moment and she did sympathize with the girl's struggles. Her own hair was quite precious to her and she'd gone to a great deal of trouble to learn how to care for it properly. "Alright. How can I help you?"
