*Cora is none-the-wiser of her father’s indiscretions and other family. She is far too concerned with having to keep her magic from her stepmother to look much outside their little bubble.
Appearance: At a modest 5’ 1” Cora boasts a generally average frame. Neither slender nor curvy, Cora has begun the shift toward a more womanly figure, but probably won’t achieve much in the ways of curves without the aide of a corset. Taking after her mother in looks, her hair falls in long mahogany waves and is constantly pinned back to keep it from her hazel-green eyes. Cora prefers lighter colors for her wardrobe and tends to stick to simple fabrics and patterns, though she has a soft spot for dark greens and blues as well. She is right-handed.

May 25th, 1872 | Cora is born on a warm spring day in May to parents John and Elizabeth.

August 1873 | A little sister, Joanna, joins the family.

1874 | A very young Cora, playing with her dolls in her nursery, levitates them to dance for her- just as her mother walks in! Poor Elizabeth is so shocked that she suffers a heart attack and dies! Any later inquiries on Cora’s part about her mother’s passing are met with general avoidance, though her father does concede it was a “severe fright” but is mum as to what exactly it was!

1875 | John meets Mary Ann a year after Elizabeth’s death.

1876 | New Year’s day sees John and Mary Ann married. Cora, with no true memories of her mother aside from a warm nature and dazzling smile, has already warmed up to her stepmother. Mary Ann’s zest for life rubs off on Cora and she is more than happy to spend time in with her stepmother and emulates her as much as possible.

1877 | Cora graciously accepts a baby brother, Johnny, into the family with little fuss!

1879 | Accidental magic is dealt with swiftly and without comment. Though Cora does not know what she is doing, she does know that she is the one doing it and she also knows she is not allowed to speak of it in her stepmother’s presence.

    1880 | Irving is born.

Summer 1883 | A “mysterious” letter arrives for Cora in July. It details the upcoming term and Cora’s attendance at a school called Hogwarts. It is now, in an independent discussion with her father, that Cora finds out everything she can do is magic and that Mary Ann is not to know. It is hard to keep the secret from her stepmother, but Cora takes the depth of the matter seriously.

Shopping for her wand and school supplies with her father is one of Cora's most favorite and treasured memories. Having the one-on-one time with him and his sole attention is something Cora revels in as she adores her father immensely. Buying her wand and picking out Binx, getting ice cream as well as books, will always be the happiest of memories.

School Year 1883-1884 | Along with her new orange tabby kitten, Binx, Cora heads to Hogwarts. Her arrival leaves her breathless, the sheer size and expanse of the castle and grounds is simply amazing. Though she had no idea which house to expect, from the little she can learn from her classmates, Cora does not anticipate being sorted into Gryffindor! Her first year is not without issue however- her status, that of basically a muggleborn, is not received well by all of her peers. She feels behind and inadequate to her classmates who were raised with magic, but Cora holds her head high and refuses to let anyone get her down. She will not stand for anyone being bullied and is quite outspoken about that!

Going home for the summer is hard on Cora. She very much wants to share her experiences with Mary Ann, but cannot. Thankfully Joanna receives her Hogwarts letter and when the two girls are alone, Cora spills about everything she can to her sister!

School Year 1884-1885 | With Joanna in tow, Cora returns for a second year, eager to prove herself against anyone who would look down upon her- or her sister. She finds herself doing well in Charms and Transfiguration, though struggles in Defense.

    Eleanor is born in 1885.

School year 1885-1886 | Third year has Cora adding Divination and Ancient Runes to her course load. Though she finds Runes as fascinating as she does difficult, she is not as impressed with Divination as she originally thought she would be. Perhaps it was a misunderstanding of the class itself or her lack of magical upbringing, but she finds it rather silly at times and probably will not continue it after OWLs.

School Year 1886-1887 | Her fourth year was utterly unremarkable, though she does harbor a small crush on an older boy, going so far as to send him an anonymous Valentine and a note here or there. Cora is focused on her studies for the most part, but has an adventurous side she wishes she could express more of without fear of some kind of social backlash. Secretly she hopes to become a prefect in the upcoming year, but is not getting her hopes up.

Personality: Charming; hard-working; naturally social; loyal; an advocate; a mediator; kind to a fault; secretly adventurous; a bit of a romantic; quietly insecure; craves acceptance; unafraid to stand up for what she believes is right. Could have easily been a Hufflepuff.
