    Araminta Scrimgeour
    #1
    In Character
    Full Name: Araminta Lucitania Scrimgeour
    Nicknames: Ari
    Birthdate: October 30, 1868
    Current Age: 18
    Occupation: Student
    Reputation: 5[/url]
    Residence: Hogsmeade
    Hogwarts House: Slytherin
Wand: Black walnut, 9¾ inches, Phoenix feather - same pheonix as Annabelle, Rigid
    Blood Status: Pure
    Social Class: Upper
    Family:
Charles Scrimgeour, Father (1824, Former Slytherin) A very emotionally unstable man, Annabelle's father is known for his outlandish requests and expectations for his children. Though he's not been abusive towards his family recently, he has caused some emotional turmoil. Following a very frightening run-in with her drunk father while at the age of twelve, Annabelle avoids him, only approaching when necessary and always with others around.

Dorothy Scrimgeour née Barfoot (1838, Former Hufflepuff) While Annabelle's mother has never been much of a tyrant, she's assumed many decision-making roles in her children's lives when it became apparent that their father was making decisions that would hurt them in the end. Formerly of the middle class, Dorothy has always appreciated her family's status and has never taken their wealth nor reputation for granted. She is the only one in the family who's able to calm her husband down from his emotional outbursts.

Julius Scrimgeour, Brother (1862, former Ravenclaw) Considerably intelligent and quick-witted, Julius has always been Annabelle's favorite brother. While he has high ambitions for the future, he would never compromise his morals to get what he wants. Within the family, he's always been known to have the heart of a Hufflepuff and the mind of a Ravenclaw. He does not hold his family's blood prejudices, but is expected to marry a pureblooded woman.

Joseph Scrimgeour, Brother (1870, Hufflepuff) A total athlete—both in physical ability and interests—Joseph frequently forgoes schoolwork in favor of studying the latest quidditch statistics or participating in quidditch club. Though very intellectually mature for his age, his lacking sense of responsibility leads Annabelle to consider him a child. Aside from this, Joseph also suffers from an overwhelming desire to be the center of attention—something that surely came from his status as the youngest child and second son.

    ^^ Robbed from Bree

Annabelle Scrimgeour, Sister, Gryffindor. The quieter twin - if thats possible! While Ari is self confident in her magic and her place in society seems less so. Displaced for years, and presumed dead by all, including Ari learning that she was alive, and back in Hogwarts was something of a shock. However, Ari loves Annabelle, and is delighted to have her back in her life. The transition has been tough on her and Ari has done what she can to try and ease the adjustment but some decisions are out of her hands.

Appearance: Ari is the same height as her twin (5ft 6 1/3 inches), and physically the pair are a matching set, but instead of being identical if one looks very hard you can see they are more mirror images, while for the most part she is ambidextrous, capable of using both hands, she favours her right for writing and wand work.

She has had little success in tight lacing her corset and he best described as waif like with little hips. It has been joked that she would have been a darling of the regency with her all over slim appearance. She is however, fashions slave, and goes all out to ensure that her social failings are made up for by perfection in her appearance. Her hair is always neatly and perfectly quaffed, and she regularly wears double loads of lead to ensure that it is set in just the right style. Like her sister she has large bright blue eyes and waist length brown hair.

Unlike her sister, she prefers striking shades and vivid designs, and has dabbled with the Romantic style of dress to make up for her tragic lack of figure, but has accepted it as girlish, and hopes to use it to her advantage.

    History:

The twin sisters Annabelle and Araminta are born as the first female offspring of the Scrimgeour family. The twins were s delightful addition to a family that had already secured it’s heir, and the girls were to be treated as dolls and utterly pampered by their parents as the first girls – the future society ladies that they were. A few months after the girls birth, while the family is in their country home, in a well to do muggle neighbourhood, a group of burglars break into the family home and kidnap Annabelle. Araminta is only saved from the same fate by a timely coincidence. As she had awoken from her nights sleep and cried for the nanny, who took her into the main nursery to be fed and changed, leaving Annabelle on her own in the room. At that time the thieves came into the room, and took the still sleeping twin. There was evidence that they searched for Ari but they were long gone by the time the nanny returned.

The family was devastated, searches were mounted and everyone was a suspect, from people who might have had something against Charles, to Charles himself who might have hoped to have had a second son and might have sought to rid himself of the useless twin girls. Belle’s blanket was found a short distance from the house tangled in a rose bush, and the search itself was hampered by a deluge of rain which washed away all trace of the childs disappearance. The family was left to fear the worst. Their fear turned to grief, and a deep sadness took hold. Ari’s earliest memories were of the thick quiet that penetrated the house, the sadness that made her mother cry when she looked at Ari, and the strange feeling of growing up knowing part of you was missing.

More children came, more siblings, and happiness did eventually return to the house, everyone who spoke to Belle spoke of her as though she had passed, and Ari was told she had a guardian angel who would protect her. When Ari was 4 she had her first display of magic and it is a moment her mother would never forget. The child Ari somehow animated her toy doll and when confronted by her mother, she informed her it was Annabelle, at which point her mother promptly fainted believing that her dead daughter was possessing her sisters doll. There were mixed emotions when the truth came out, that Belle was still gone but that Ari has displayed magic for the first time.
Ari grew to girlhood in the typical fashion for girls of her blood and station, she was raised by a parade of nannys, governesses and tutors who schooled the Scrimgeour children in the arts and sensibilities of upper class life, and spent more than a few days in the stuffy parlours of the Flint institute. However, Ari was a little more gangly and awkward than her cousins and while academically bright, gifted even, she failed to grasp certain social mores and was both ambitious and slightly rubbish at mastering the subtle double speak required to truly succeed in upper class society.

It wasn’t really a big deal when she was a child, no one minded too much that she spoke too freely, asked odd questions but was, at times, rather socially awkward. However, when she reached 11, and was to be sent to Hogwarts, she was told that her social behaviour would sound count for much more than it once had. Still, such ominious warnings did not dampen her excitement about going to school and she happily jumped on board the express with the other students that she knew from the same pureblood circles, holding court in one of the cars while the muggle born students scurried through the halls over whelmed by the prospect of magic and wizardry.

It wasn’t until the sorting that Ari saw her the girl who looked exactly like her, as the name Drapper, Matilda was called out by the Deputy Head, all Ari’s friends, the girls she had grown up with and who knew the story of the lost twin, turned to look at her and then back at the girl on the stage, who is sorted into Gryffindor. Ari will never forget the skip of her heart, and the drop in her stomach as she saw her own face on the stage, looking terrified under the sorting hat.

Ari is overwhelmed, and kept her head down, and her long hair shrouding her face as she herself was sorted into Slytherin, she has no idea what the hat said to her, or what rationale he had for placing her in the house. She was sure that the other did not realise who she was at the sorting, too engrossed in the new experiences of the school, and showing no expectation of anything strange. Ari spent the next few days hiding in the Slytherin commonroom, not joining her new house mates in their exploration of the castle wrestling with the reality of what she was experiencing – was she right? Was that her sister? She wanted desperately to speak to her Mama but did not want to mention it lest she break her mothers heart again.

It is only when they started classes and the girls are forced to confront each other that Ari confirms what her heart knows – that Matilda Drapper is actually Annabelle Scrimgour her missing sister. The girls are whisked to the hospital wing to be both examined by the nurse, and to ensure that fainting and fits of hysteria from such a shock can be duly dealt with. It is left to Ari to write and inform her parents that they must get to Hogwarts as soon as possible that their missing daughter has been found. The girls are returned to thier parents home on the first weekend to be reunited with the entire family so that everyone could reconnect.

Despite all the time apart, Ari is desperate to know her twin and is perhaps over eager to establish a relationship with her sister, since she had been aware of her existence she was full of the promises of what might have been, how they might have been had they been raised together. In her naivety she didn’t realise how overwhelming it must have been for Belle and instead threw herself into Sisterly behaviour. It was only after the Christmas break, and the excessive amount of pressure Belle was under to bring her ‘social graces’ up to scratch with their mothers expectations. Desperate for a relationship with her sister she backs off and lets Belle take the lead on creating their relationship.

It seemed to be going well, until the year when Belle’s muggleborn sister was admitted to Hogwarts, and worse still – she was admitted to the same house as Belle. Hurt at the prospect of being replaced in Belle’s affection again, she wrote to her parents pouring out her grief and sadness. She didn’t think her father would be so angry, all Ari had wanted was some reassurance that she wasn’t going to lose Belle again.

As her exam years began Ari proved that her ambition and talent were not wasted, she got E’s and O’s in all subjects, with her wand work proving to be exceptionally accurate and precise. Ari is excited for her NEWTs she is taking a full course load and even more looking forward to coming out.
