    The Dreaded Exams Season
    #1
    @Terpsichore Van Helsing
    While Persephone had hoped that she’d be lucky enough to avoid falling victim to the dreaded head lice infestation, two of her own dorm mates suddenly catching them made her chances much less likely, and she supposed that she ought to feel fortunate that she’d managed to stave it off for as long as she had. A thought that, while positive in nature, wasn’t much of a comfort as she, too, had tried various methods of getting rid of the pesky little insects - a feat that wasn’t made any easier by the fact that she had blonde hair - and still they persisted, unwelcome intruders. She could only hope that Cora was faring better than she was, and perhaps it was a good thing that either of them wouldn’t be attending the Coming Out Ball this year, for she certainly didn’t envy her female yearmates who would most likely have to go to desperate measures to be completely rid of them beforehand. Imagine having to debut with head lice!

    Crawling hair-nesting nuisances aside, however, there was a more pressing issue at hand for Persephone that month: N.E.W.Ts. While she hated to admit it, for all that she prided herself on remaining calm and collected during exams season, when the rest were hurriedly cramming as much studying as their brains would allow or consistently downing vials of Calming Draughts, she was beginning to feel a bit frazzled herself. Maybe it was the frantic energy in the air, or the constant realization that these would be the last academic testings she’d ever have to take and she wanted to do well on them, but whatever it was, it was making her feel a bit restless - a smidge nervous - and the only way to quell such feelings (and to also ignore the persistent itchiness of her poor scalp) was by, of course, doing more studying. Which found Persephone, more often than not, in the library or the common room, surrounded by thick volumes and copious amounts of notes she’d taken over the past year, trying not so much to memorize the information (because she already had) but to truly know it and understand it.

    A committed practice she was currently wishing her sister would utilize as well as they both sat in the library one rainy afternoon, going over the material for their upcoming Potions exam. After years of duplicating class notes and compiling together handmade study guides for them both to benefit from, Persephone was mostly used to Cora’s study methods (or lack thereof) by now, though it still never failed to annoy her how uncommitted her sister could be to her academics. She could never understand students who just threw away their education so carelessly, when there were many others who would gladly take the opportunity to better themselves.

    “What is the law that states that a true antidote to a blended poison is more than the sum of its parts, and is it valid for all poisons?,” Sephey quizzed Cora from the batch of parchment lying before her, looking up once she’d finished the question. It was a tricky question for a rather tricky subject, but the answer to the first half was quite simple, so she had some hope that her sister would at least get that part correct. “If it helps any, this is on one of the study guides,” she stated, gesturing to Cora’s own pile, but she didn’t say which study guide or what page it was on, “though I think I might have worded it a bit differently.”
