    UNDERAGE MAGIC LEGALIZED?

NEW PERMETS TO AID IN EASIER EMPLOYMENT

A release from the Ministry of Magic has revealed increased leniency for witches and wizards under the age of seventeen who would use magic in the conduct of their employment:

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE MINISTER:

Effective immediately, those witches and wizards under the age of majority required to use magic in the workplace may receive special licensing to do so. Such a license should be carried on one’s person at all times, and must be obtained in advance from the Department of Magical Education. This license will be issued on a case-by-case basis; the securing of an occupation alone does not guarantee that such permission will be granted. Inquires to be directed to the aforementioned department.

When reached out to for further detail, Minister of Magic Balthazar Urquart explained that “…it is not uncommon for students to leave Hogwarts prior to their seventeenth birthday, and these individuals have been largely excluded from the magical workforce due to their age. In passing this easement, it is our intention that those who must legitimately use magic are able to do so, and not thus not unduly discriminated against in the hiring process.”

The license allows carriers to perform magic ‘legally in the service of their occupation, as well in their own private residence’. Generally applied, this will allow licensed underaged witches and wizards to use magic in the workplace, at home, and in public where it can reasonably be assumed to be a part of their job, such as in caring for an employer’s children or providing first aid.

    _____________________________________________________________
In order to be granted a license, applicants must prove a second-year level of magical proficiency and possess an approved Request for Easement, filed by their employer. That employer must prove to the Department of Magical Education that use of magic is crucial to the job at hand, and pay the one-galleon examination fee. Individuals who wish to make themselves more hirable may take the exam and pay the cost out of pocket, and will in exchange be given a Guarantee of Licensing. This does not, however, equate to a license itself.

Guarantees of Licensing will be conferred without examination to:
    — Hogwarts students who earn at least three O.W.L.s
    — Graduates of any two-year programme from the Blishwick School of Domestic Magic

Requests for Easement will be approved without additional review to:
    — St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries
    — Hogsmeade Hospital
    — Ministry of Magic – Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes
    — Ministry of Magic – Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures
    — Ministry of Magic – Department of Magical Transportation
    — Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
    — The Blishwick School of Domestic Magic

Anyone else seeking licensing or easement should make inquiries as needed.
