    QUIDDITCH SEASON INCOMING

    GET READY BRITAIN!

Quidditch fans should get excited for the upcoming commencement of the 1887-1888 Quidditch season! Fresh off of a Caerphilly Caterpillars 1886-1887 championship, teams across Britain are looking forward to a fresh start. The first games of the season will be played on Friday, May 5. The very first game is between Pride of Portree and the Chudley Cannons, playing in Portree at 4 o'clock that evening. From there, the season kicks off, with all teams playing four games in the month of May alone.

Mr. Wesley Cavanaugh, head of the department of magical games and sports, commented on the season's opening.

"The teams appear to have different strengths this year. It will certainly be interesting to see how the beginning of the season plays out versus the end. Everybody will come out strong, but only time will tell who has the staying power this year," Cavanaugh said.

Mr. Cavanaugh previously played for the Appleby Arrows, who are considered a notable contender this year, under the leadership of team captain Edward Mohr.

Mr. Thom Pettigrew, owner of Puddlemere United, was asked on Puddlemere's aims for the season. "The Puddlemere roster was strong last year, and you won't see many changes on first string from the end of last season. That being said, we have some fresh blood on second string that we're looking forward to seeing develop--depending on how things go there may be mid-season changes, and that's something we're all very excited about. We pride ourselves on adaptability, so no matter how the first few games shake out, you can bet we'll be at the top of the roster soon--and we'll stay there."

Of course, the Prophet heard similar things from team owners and players across the board. Mr. Fitzroy Prewett, the Cannons' captain, said, "My goals for this season are to play well and to have my son on a broomstick by the end of the season - the missus likes one much better than she does the other!"

The other Chudley Cannons first string beater, Mr. Magnus Lockhart, nonverbally declined to comment.

Miss Nectar Shinnick of the Holyhead Harpies stated, "All I will say is, we are gonna show all of the other teams that the Holyhead Harpies are the best team around!"

Miss Ginevra Blackwood of the Chudley Cannons offered a similar comment, and said, "The Chudley Canons are about the blast the others out of the water."

Regardless of the hopes of various teams, Mr. Cavanaugh is right - only time will tell. We look forward to seeing you on the pitch, and this writer encourages you to root for his team - the Hogsmeade Howlers.*

*Editor's Note: The Prophet's Editorial Board does not encourage you to cheer on any particular Quidditch team, although our own Mitch Quiddel does own the aforementioned Howlers.
