While Immie didn’t often have occasion to visit Irvingly in the past - beyond the occasional visits to her brother and sister-in-law, of course - Rue’s recent move to the quaint little town gave her more of a reason to. Certainly, not being able to perform magic was one of the downsides of visiting, but she had to admit that there was a certain charm about the small town that she liked. Compared to Hogsmeade (and even the village on their own island), which was always bustling with activity, Irvingly seemed to boast a more mellow vibe that was rather refreshing, not to mention that she was always a bit curious about the muggles. Not so much because she thought to be inferior beings to magical folk - which was quite ridiculous, really, for weren’t they all humans, regardless of blood status? - but because she couldn’t fathom a life without magic. Even if Immie herself didn’t use magic for everything, the fact that there was a whole other human race who could not do magic (or even acknowledge that it existed) by nature both fascinated and puzzled her in equal measure, and no amount of reading on wizard genes (and Merlin, did she try - but most of the information had just gone way over her head, and she’d given it up quickly) would ever help her understand how it all worked.

So perhaps it was a good thing that Tuesday (a muggle herself) was so infinitely patient when it came to Immie’s insatiable curiosity about life without magic. They had been introduced by Ruth a while back, and Immie had always thought she was a rather sweet young woman - a bit shy when they had first met (perhaps a bit wary too), but she liked to believe that they were on more familiar terms now. Or at least familiar enough for Immie to drop by after she visited Rue next door, a plate of cookies (still warm thanks to a warming charm) in one hand, and the other raised in a knock. As the visit was unannounced, she wouldn’t stay very long, but it would still be nice to drop off some sweets for the girls and visit with Tuesday a little bit; it has been a while, after all.

As the door swung open, a friendly smile lighted Immie’s features. “I hope you don’t mind my coming over,” she announced by way of greeting, “Rue said you were home, and I thought I’d drop by to say hello - and I come bearing treats!” She added with a chuckle, gesturing to the plate of cookies with a slight nod of her head.

Even if unannounced visits were usually considered impolite, Tuesday rather liked them. Normally she was home, except for the few occasions when she was at work, and she actually adored having company. It was nice to be social, for in the past, everything had been all work, work, work for her. It was nice to be able to slow down a little and enjoy the small things in life, even if they were conversations with the magical inhabitants of Irvingly and elsewhere.

Despite her initial reluctance to the wizarding folk she encountered years ago when they'd first settled in Irvingly, Tuesday rather liked them now. Many of them offered different, refreshing ways of seeing the world. It was interesting. Of course, many of them thought the same of their 'Muggle' counterparts, herself included! But, Tuesday really didn't mind. In fact, she sometimes found it rather fun to have such an interest taken in her simply because she did not possess magic!

So when the she opened the door to see Imogen, one of her more curious new friends, Tuesday smiled. "Oh! Hello Immie!" she greeted cheerily, opening the door wider for her. As if summoned by the word 'treats,' Tuesday could hear the pitter-patter of little girl feet behind her and turned to see both Helen and Hermoine peering around the frame of a door and staring at the plate of cookies with wide eyes. She had to laugh at the comical sight.

"You sure seem to know the summoning words for children," she told her friend, chuckling. "Come on in!"

“All too well, I’m afraid,” Immie laughed, thinking of her own four children, and how they most likely would have had a similar reaction. “Hello, darlings,” she smiled down kindly to the two little girls as she let herself in, their little eager eyes seemingly following her every movement as she handed the plate of delectables to Tuesday.

“I hope you all like snickerdoodles,” she started brightly, allowing her friend to lead the way. “Cook made an excess amount - “ a stress reliever, Immie discovered, after the dogs had somehow found their way into the meat cupboard the day before, and left it in awful disarray “- and I had no clue how we were going to eat all of it, so I thought you might like some. I didn’t even know that it was possible to make that many cookies, but I stand corrected!” She shook her head in amazement, chuckling.

"Yes, yes!" Helen and Hermoine cheered together as they watched their mother take the plate, causing Tuesday to laugh. They were inordinately excited about a visitor bringing sweets, bouncing up and down on their little feet. Sometimes they were just too cute for her to bear.

Well, they were being very good today, so Tuesday supposed that they deserved the treats. "Come to the kitchen, I'll get us some tea," she told Imogen as she closed the door behind her guest. "And yes, girls, you can have cookies. But wash your hands first!"

Cheering, Helen and Hermoine scampered off to the kitchen, leaving the two women in the entry hall. "And you have double this, don't you?" she questioned of Immie with a smile, shaking her head as she followed the girls. "Thank you so much for bringing these," she added politely before she was rude and forgot. "The girls are overjoyed as you can see."

“I do,” Immie confirmed with a fond smile as she followed the younger woman out of the entry hall, “and there’s never a dull moment, I can assure you.” Such was the life with four children under the age of five, and when one factored in her husband’s dragon-related profession, their three dogs, and their ever-elusive pet bat, things were bound to be interesting - and at times, strange - but Immie wouldn’t have it any other way.

“It was my pleasure,” she said happily, crossing the kitchen threshold. “It presented to me the perfect opportunity to come for a visit -” which Immie feared that she didn’t do so often enough, which was a shame “- even if it was a little ill-timed, though I do promise to call ahead in the future.” She chuckled good-naturedly, pulling out a chair at the small table.

Again Tuesday smiled. "Don't worry about it," she assured, waving off Immies's concerns. "Calling ahead is proper, true, but I really don't mind. I think the girls like the surprise too." As she set the cookies on the counter, Helen and Hermoine eagerly pranced about their mother's legs, obviously excited about the sweets.

"You have to sit down first!" Tuesday insisted, after which the two girls scampered to sit at the table by Imogen, bouncing and giggling. After putting a few cookies on another plate, she set it in the middle of the table. "One at a time now!" she warned gently, holding up one finger, an order which her daughters dutifully obeyed.

She shook her head. "You're always welcome to bring your little ones along too," she told Imogen. "The girls always love new playmates. Would you like some tea?" She set about to starting tea in the muggle fashion, bustling about the kitchen.

A child's love for sweets knows no bounds, Immie thought in mild amusement, chuckling at the obvious excitement with which the girls had reached for their cookies. Though she didn't bake them herself - which was probably a good thing, for all that Immie's knowledge of cooking only extended to being able to brew her own tea and making simple meals like sandwiches - she was still pleased, nonetheless, that they were enjoying them, and she would certainly pass on their (unspoken, but clear) compliments to the Cook.

"Oh, tea would be lovely!," Immie responded happily, "and I shall be sure to keep that in mind, thank you. Izzie and the twins could certainly benefit from more playmates." Not that they were lacking them, of course. With a family as large as her and Mac's, they were never without cousins to play with, but it was still always nice to try and branch out a little.

"And how old are you young ladies now?," Immie turned to the girls with a friendly smile. "My, it seems like you both get a little bigger every time I see you!" She laughed.

"So could Helen and Hermoine, right girls?" Tuesday responded, to which the girls both chorused happily, mouths full of cookies. They always loved having playmates, especially the Lockhart children --who were really the only others they knew! Tuesday thought having even more little ones to play with would be a real excitement! Besides, she always loved when the girls were able to play with others, since it was something she'd never really had a chance to do when she was not much older than they.

Smiling as Imogen continued to interact with them, Tuesday prompted, "Can you tell Mrs. MacFusty how old you are?" Helen, who was learning to count, held up four fingers, although Hermoine seemed more hesitant. As an aid, Tuesday called to her and held up two fingers, which the girl immediately imitated, beaming.

"It's amazing how fast time goes by," she chuckled. "They grow like weeds too!"

"Oh, very good," Immie complimented as each of the girls gave their respective ages, turning to Tuesday with a smile. "Just around the same age as my own, though Brendan's a bit younger." But that didn't mean that her youngest wouldn't get the same enjoyment out of the playdate than the others would. She would definitely have to arrange a date with Tuesday sometime down the road.

"Far too fast" she said with a chuckle, and temporarily forgetting Tuesday's blood status (perhaps it was her seemingly accepting attitude towards magical folk that made Immie able to easily overlook it), she added, "and before you know it, they'll be going off to school!"

"Oh, I know!" Tuesday lamented, even though her eldest was only four and a long time from going to school. "Helen will be going to daddy's school, won't you love?" she questioned, to which her daughter piped in the affirmative excitedly.

She smiled at Imogen, knowing that she likely dealt with children levitating things and all sorts of crazy happenings around her house. "Then I suppose Hermoine will be next, since they both seem to take after Noah," she said. Really, she was a little jealous for both girls would be able to go to school and learn amazing (albeit still scary) things!

"Sometimes it's hard to wrap my head around," Tuesday chuckled. "Magic."

"Oh, I'm sure," Immie answered with a sympathetic smile, reaching to stir a bit of cream into her tea. "I've been around magic my entire life, and there are still some things that surprise even me!" She chuckled, but then again, the word 'magic' was such a broad term. There were many components of magic that weren't merely waving a wand about and saying a few funny words, there was much more to it than that - not even Hogwarts could cover all of it!

"Although I suppose I could also claim the opposite," she commented after a few moments, laying down her teacup with a soft clink! "I may not use it for everything, but the idea of magic not existing, is just as unthinkable!"

"I'm not sure if I should be relieved or terrified that magic still surprises you," Tuesday laughed, shaking her head. It was a little scary that something so known to the witches and wizards was still uncontrollable and inexplicable sometimes! It was interesting to her, as and outsider, but also terrifying.

Tuesday had been so used to it not existing --or at least being something of children's tales-- for so long it was funny to actually consider it seriously at times. "Well, at least it's useful," she commented, knowing that several times she would have been hours at something that magic fixed in only a few seconds.

"Oh, please don't be terrified," Immie said quickly, throwing Tuesday a little reassuring smile. "I simply meant that there's so much to learn about magic, it takes more than seven years of schooling to learn it all!" Like poor Brendan getting transfigured into a dragon - which she wasn't going to mention to Tuesday, lest she genuinely wanted to terrify the poor woman further - Immie had absolutely no idea that such a thing could happen! Or that there was Transfiguration strong enough to transfigure him back! She had certainly learned a lot that day, and as amusing as the situation now seemed to her, she fervently hoped that they'd never have to experience it again. She had not enjoyed feeling so helpless and not knowing what to do to for her baby boy.

"Besides," she responded after a moment, swallowing her tea, "as useful as it can be, I sometimes find there's a certain accomplishment in doing something without magic. You tend to become so dependent on it after a while, it's almost kind of nice doing without." Keyword - almost.

Tuesday smiled back when Immie tried to reassure her. "Oh, maybe terrified is too strong of a word," she offered, although it certainly wasn't in the past. Now she was more accustomed to magic, or at least accepting of the strange things that seemed to happen with it! Sometimes she felt as if she didn't have the imagination to comprehend it all, so it always surprised her when she could meet magic with an open mind! Certainly not every non-magical person could...

If she knew Immie's thoughts currently, she probably would be quite scared of having someone turned into a dragon, but thankfully she didn't voice them. Instead, she focused on doing things without magic, to which Tuesday shrugged. "I grew up without it, so I'm so used to doing things by hand." Even when spells and charms had been offered to help with doing things around the house, she normally declined, for sometimes the routine of doing things felt good. "I guess it's a good thing to have a mix of magic and mundane, hmm?"

"Agreed," Immie said with a small smile, sipping the last dregs of her tea. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of the clock on the wall, telling the time, and set her teacup down upon the table. Goodness, she had stayed longer than intended!

"Merlin, is that the time?", she asked, rising from her chair. "I fear I've overstayed my welcome," she stated with a chuckle, shrugging into her coat. "But, oh Tuesday -" she reached out to lay a hand on her friend's arm "- we must get together soon - properly next time - maybe plan an outing with Rue and the children." Like a picnic, that sounded grand! It would have to be in Irvingly, of course, for Tuesday's sake, but she rather didn't mind the little town now that she had more cause to visit it.

"Oh, you are always welcome!" Tuesday assured when Imogene stood abruptly, but she could understand that her friend had to leave! At least it had been a nice visit, for her and the children both! There was no doubt in her mind that there was an excitable afternoon in their future, considering the sugar they'd both ingested, but at least they'd had company today!

Tuesday stood to escort Imogen out, smiling at the suggestion. "Oh, that sounds like a wonderful idea," she agreed. A proper outing, while sometimes tiring, sounded quite nice. "We should do that soon!" Tuesday finished, before seeing her friend off with lots of goodbyes from herself and the children.

"We'll keep in touch!" she promised, waving a final farewell before closing the door.
