With a member driven story line, monthly games and events, and a friendly and drama-free community focused on quality over quantity, the only thing you can be sure of is fun!

ACTIVITY CHECK—The activity check is underway! If you would like an account reactivated, you can do so by posting in maintenance starting on November 4th at 10:00am EST. The exception to this is players with no active accounts. If all of your accounts are inactive, you may immediately post to reactivate one. Please keep in mind that it may take us a day or two to get to any new applications, depending on how long the AC takes to complete.

As always, this only applies to accounts deactivated in the Activity Check. If yours was deactivated earlier for another reason, you are welcome to reactivate your character whenever you like!

EVENTS — The Hogwarts Masquerade Ball's forum is now live, but also this is a reminder that November events are open!

NaNoWriMo — It's officially November, and that means one thing--NaNo has started! If you have any questions about how NaNo works on Charming, be sure to ask either Bee (@Elsie Beauregard) or Olive (@Ursula Black)!

Beautiful set by Bee!

I stole this from Steph the last time we hired...

Witch Weekly is hiring! Want to apply? Read on for more info! We are hiring a floater who will need to be available to fill in for absent Wenches or those who are unable to complete their articles for the week!

Issues are published every Sunday, with assignments due the Friday before!

Cover (450x650)
Article (Group A)
Article (Group B)
Main Article (advertised on cover)
Article (Group C)

Interview or feature of notable characters.

Event coverage. Think something like this. There'd also be some information about the planning and the food and stuff. Mentions of important people should be of the style of: "People like Katherina Selwyn, Rufina Mulciber and The Queen of Narnia were among the guests!" rather than "SUZY AND BILLY WERE SEEN TALKING DID THEY BONE."

We aim for all member-run events to get a coverage. It'd happen about 2 weeks since the event took place IC, to allow for stuff to happen there. The wench who is assigned a particular member-run event (in the case that the member doesn't want to write the coverage themselves) is encouraged to contact the member running those events to ask for their input and details.

Fashion plates
Who wore it best (witches wear same accessory, hairstyle, etc.)
Recipes (both for foods and potions)

Rumor Mill gossip
The Facts (random facts about notable figures - such as favorite tea flavor, how often they blow their nose, what color their underwear might be, etc.)
Quizzes (what kind of man is your soulmate, are you a good wife, etc.)

Advice by Harmony Aidsworth
Letters from our readers
Book recommendations (No Fanny Hill-esque books xD)
Play recommendations

450x100 (Large)
225x100 (Medium)
150x100 (Small)

Advertisements can be images or just text that resemble magazine ads. Something like this. Ex: "Buy Madam Primpernelle's cosmetics to look more beautiful instantly!"

• Upper class folks. Especially well-known socialites and generally well-known and/or socially active people. So they wouldn't really ask to interview someone who lives a secluded life in the middle of nowhere, for example, since nobody would really care to read about them. xD
• Notable Ministry employees.
• People who've done something cool at a particular IC time.
• Quidditch players.
If you want to write about someone who doesn't necessarily fall under those categories but you think that it'd make sense for them to be featured, then feel free to contact me! Diversity is also encouraged. Witch Weekly wants to feature fresh faces every time! Reading about the same person would get old after a time. xD

Articles shouldn't be too offensive and/or negative. They should be written in a neutral leaning to a positive light. The magazine is striving to have a "Look how cool this person we're featuring is!" rather than "This person on the cover of our magazine is TERRIBLE". The magazine wants to sell copies, so they want to appeal to the people who buy and read it.

The only times the magazine would be "negative" is when they write about cases/people who were publicly ruined. And even then, those articles would be written in a precautionary tale style. They'd also feature those articles when it would be IC relevant. So they wouldn't just randomly write a "BOO FREYA TRELAWNEY" article.

Also since the magazine is very much targeted to young unmarried girls, articles should be mindful of their wording.

Think you can handle this? Fill out the following form and PM it to @Elsie Beauregard! Accepting applications until 11.18!
Why do you want to be part of Witch Weekly?
What article groups are you willing to write? (Cover, Group A, Group B, Main Article, Group C, Advertisements)
If hired, which character account would you like to have Witch Weekly forum permissions on?

And as an aside, we also have a pretty Witch Weekly stamp to collect! You'll also have special Witch Weekly forum permission access and a lovely ribbon displayed in your mini profile.

Also if you haven't filled out our Feature Me! form please do so and then we can feature your characters!!

A few notes today:

The Dueling Tournament is now underway and the brackets have been announced!  Keep an eye on your tags/the bracket post to see when yours goes up!  Remember, the tournament only allows for 72 hours between posts.

A note that this month, we’ll be reading Night by Eli Wiesal and Grave Mercy by Robin LeFevers. We’re also now taking suggestions for December, and volunteers for December & January!

And lastly, because I have completely and utterly dropped the ball this term, I don’t actually have quidditch stats and so cannot yet score this month’s games >.> Anyone who plays a student quidditch player should check their PMs and please get back to me within a week!  And while we’re on the subject, Ravenclaw is still looking for a Keeper and Slytherin is short two chasers!

if I could marry Bee I would but I can't so I ship our characters instead.

Quidditch notes:

Slytherin defeated Gryffindor in the first match of the season, 230 to 190. Seeker @Archelaus Abney caught the snitch.

Hufflepuff will defeat Ravenclaw later this month, 220 to 130, with seeker @Amos Harkiss catching the snitch!

The following players are reminded to submit their modifier info ASAP:
@Arthur Harkiss @Simeon Silverstone @Darling Whitledge @Glisten Whitledge @Handsome Whitledge @Waffle Whitledge @Cleo Wood
(@Imogen MacFusty @Souri Avninder @Hannah Pettigrew)

It's that time of year again! December is approaching and we have just the thing to get everyone in a festive mood!

Sign up for secret swap by December 5th to work on some special gifts for other members!

In addition, Posting Wizard signups have opened and, as per usual, will close on the 1st of the month.
Last year of undergrad + internship + lack of muse = a very inactive Nolan. If you need anything, please send me a PM on this account or Skype me!
Have a character who would like a pseudonym, wouldn't like to be featured, or has no issues with being mentioned in Witch Weekly? Check out this thread!
