Did you know?

The Language of the Flowers was a popular method to express feelings where words might be improper, but did you know other means of doing so? Some ladies used their parasols, as well as their fans, gloves, and hankies to flirt with a gentleman (or alternatively, tell them to shove it!). — Bree

WANTED:

Ester Montgomery for Thomas Montgomery. The one that got away (with the pornographer...)
This boy, then. He wasn't new. Wasn't one of the worst people in the common room, those rotten rich boys - like Mr. Jailkeeper - who could not fathom a world beyond their own farts. Was a good working class lad, so he'd heard. Had a bit of a weird looking face, and a bit of a weird thing for preaching. Still.

Looking over at Tuni it was clear she had plans, the amount of smoke she was admitting made him chuckle and she quickly went and finished her glass. Damn, his girl knew how to put down liquor. Although the thought reminded him of the night he’d found her drunk with Tommy. Much less impressive then. Following suit as Tuni’s features were obscured in the cloud of fog, Rufus swallowed the rest of his own drink and breathed out as much as he could, the room turning almost foggy.

In the haze her hand slipped into his own and he followed her as she passed through the crowd to the front entrance. Others had fog lingering around them making it seem less odd as the cloud of fog moved around them until they were in the open air. Rufus laughed as the cool air on the street hit them, grateful the crowds had lessened as darkness fell.

He took the lead, careful not to be to confident in the plan’s success and led them from High Street to the park. Another blessing, Rufus counted, in the store’s location right by the park. It was dark in the shadows of the park and no one appeared to be around. Pulling Tuni to a copse of trees his lips were on her’s the moment he felt them concealed. A hand wrapped around her waist, another slipped to the back of her neck, fingers threatening to tangle in her hair. His lips pressed against her with desire and the need to tell her he loved her. Not a chaste kiss, but one that showed her just how much she truly meant to him.

And just like that, they were out of the shop and into the cool night air. Tuni's own laughter echoed his, clearly pleased with the outcome. She may have even squealed just a smidge with delight as he quickly pulled her after him and away into the park. Their little walk was quickly turning into something a bit faster and she soon found herself lead into a little copse of trees. She was about to ask him what he had planned but was cut off.

There was no way to stifle the gasp of surprise when she felt his lips pressed to hers so firmly and quickly. She was pulled flush against his body in a matter of moments and she easily melted into him. In all the time they'd spent together, in all of their other kisses, none had ever made her feel in such a way. It was perhaps because he'd always been so guarded before. So careful and cautious so as to not raise brows or cause problems. But it was beyond evident in that moment that they needed it. Needed one another.

And she met that amorous and passionate kiss in a like manner. Her hands came up to his chest and gripped his jacket to hold him close, her own lips melding easily against his own as her own desire and passion spilled into it. Weeks of worry and fear vanished in that moment and were replaced with nothing but pure love and desire. They would make this work or they'd die trying.

Tuni pulled herself closer to him, her fingers tangling with his coat as he kissed her. It was enough to push aside any last reservations he held. He could hear both of their hearts racing in the silence of the night around them. The crickets silenced from their summer song, a lone owl hooting from further in the park muffled against the sound of their mingling breath.

Tuni,” Rufus murmured his lips trailing to her chin and jaw and up toward her ear. His fingers moving on the back of the neck to make it easier to guide her as he gave her his attention. “Tuni,” He repeated, words mingling with kisses against her skin. “I won’t lose you again.” He promised as his lips traced their way back to her lips and landed on her own to seal the promise.

The depth of their kisses reached bounds that Tuni had yet to experience with anyone. She'd tried to before with Rufus, tried to push things a bit further with him than she was even probably ready for but he'd always been ever the gentleman and kept a tight leash on himself as a result. So the results in that moment were a bit shocking, though not unwelcome, to her system.

She couldn't help the soft moans that left her lips as his kisses traveled, moving her head easily with his guidance as a result. She held onto him tight for fear of her legs giving out beneath her if she didn't and as a result it brought them impossibly close. "You never will," she managed to murmur to him in response before he sealed the promise with a kiss once more.

Her lips were intoxicating, more so than the firewhiskey beginning to race through his veins. The noises she made, murmured into his shoulder, had him pulling her closer to him, wrapping his arm tightly around her waist and drawing her in. He wanted to take her home with him, to wrap her hands in his and walk proudly down the road, didn’t want to have to worry about hiding in the shadows and stealing borrowed moments of time. When he woke in the morning he wanted to see her head on the pillow next to him, her eyes blurry from sleep. He wanted to be able to take all the time in the world to love her and cherish her. This stolen moment, it was only that, it was only a moment in time. Precious, fragile, and fleeting. He wanted her by his side for every moment after that, they couldn’t do that like this.

Rufus pulled his lips away from Tuni’s with one last gentle brush of his lips on her’s, before he stared into her eyes, all seriousness. “Say you’ll marry me.” His hand moved from the back of her neck to brush along her cheek and jawbone. He so wanted her by his side and he didn’t want to wait any longer. He didn’t want to wait to go through the motions for society’s sake, to hope the stars lined up and there were no more bludgers sent their way. Surely this, their love, it would get them through. Because he was certain of one thing, with Tuni by his side he was stronger, he could take care of them. They would take care of them. They could do this, just as his parents had years ago.

Tuni all but whimpered as he finally pulled away. She'd been so lost in that moment, so long in him she was loathe to let it end. She could have stayed there in that moment forever even though she knew that was impossible. But she hadn't expected him to look at her with such a serious expression once he'd pulled away from the kiss.

Her eyes widened slightly, shocked at what she'd heard having gone from a moment of passion to brief worry to pure astonishment. Her lips parted to respond but no words made their way out. She hadn't expected that, not at all. And while it had always been the end game, or so she'd hoped it was, she hadn't expected such a blunt question to be asked. Especially when they'd been on such shaky ground just prior.

But.. did any of that really matter now? Did the trials behind them have any bearing on where they went from there? It had surely caused problems but they'd managed to make their way through it all then so why couldn't they keep doing so.

"Of course!" she blurted, the shock wearing off just enough so that she pressed her lips firmly against his but she pulled back quickly. Eyes still wide, she regarded him with a mixture of love and curiosity when she asked, "Now?" The realization dawning on her that she didn't know if he meant right now or just.. sometime in the future.

Rufus had never expected he'd be so nervous to hear the answer to a question. It seemed as he waited that an eternity passed before him as he waited. The sounds of their breathe mingling in the air, the hooting of a owl, the distant sounds from High Street. In the darkness he could barely see the surprise on her face and for a moment he felt as if she might say no. What a fool he would be then. They had only just mended themselves, but he wasn't willing to risk that fix. So fool or not he waited.

Joy, all consuming joy, flooded through Rufus at her exclamation. Greater than any joy he had ever experienced from winning a quidditch match, greater than winning the cup last year. A grin spread across Rufus's face at her answer, so simple and unrestrained. His arm fell to her waist and he pulled her to him, spinning her around and placing a kiss on her lips. "Now, tomorrow, next week, next month!" Rufus told her with a grin. "You need only tell me when." He told her, kissing her square on the lips again. "Although," Rufus murmured against her cheek, "I'm not sure, how patient I'll be."

Tuni could hardly believe any of it was happening. She'd gone to the event at their distillery's shop to try and enjoy herself and forget everything that had happened with Rufus. She hadn't expected to see him there let alone for them to have snuck away together to discuss marriage.

But there they were and she couldn't help but to laugh with a sort of excitement as he skinned her around and kissed her. His words settled in her mind but it was the final response murmured against her cheek that really stuck in her mind.

Her father would be livid. Lock would be, too. Rufus's family would probably be outraged as well. But despite all the anger bound to surround them, they'd have each other. And they would marry one way or another. There was no doubt about that in her mind. With all they'd been through, all they'd overcome, they had to be together. And the way Rufus was acting in that moment, the things that had been said, she found herself not wanting to wait at all. It was impulsive and brash. Reckless even. They didn't have some tainted letter to blame but that was perhaps the best part of it. They had legitimate and true love to fall onto.

"Let's go now," she said, beaming up to him as her hands found his face to turn him to look her in the eye, "Why wait? We know this is what we want, what's going to happen, so why put it off?" They'd need a witness and it was getting awfully late so it may be hard to find. But then Tuni remembered February was back at the shop and her eyes lit up. "I'm sure Febs would go with us. I told her once I'd witness for her if she ever needed me to. She's bound to come for me!

Now. The word rung in his ears and Rufus’s grin grew even wider. They would never have to be parted again, he could wake up in the morning with her by his side every morning from tomorrow on. There would be no more time to overthink, to consider it, to try and find a way to make it work. They could make it work, he knew it in his bones, the same way he knew this was a risk. It was everything he had tried to protect Tuni from since this had all begun. It through her into the spotlight and would make tongues wag. Their families would be angry, he knew that as well and yet it was still a risk he was happy to take.

Now.” Rufus agreed looking into her eyes and kissing her again. Now. The word rung in his mind. It was foolish and risky, but she was worth every risk. Who ever won a game of quidditch without a risk? Perhaps that was where they had gone wrong, Rufus hadn’t risked anything, and now they would risk it all.

As Tuni continued, thinking through the logistics outloud, Rufus could only nod, taking in her words. Soon they would be man and wife and nothing, nothing, could make Rufus happier in the world. “Alright.” He agreed, vaguely thinking that Febs must be the person who had come with her to the distillery. “Before we go,” Rufus began gruffly, pushing a stray strand of hair from Tuni’s face gently. He leaned down, wrapping her in his arms and kissing her again, showing her every joy he felt, every promise he would make to her. Finally, when they were both short of breath he pulled away. “Now we can go.” He told her with a roguish smile.

Tuni couldn't help but to grin broadly as he echoed the word "now." It was utterly insane but beyond worth it. They're find their way through the angry family and friends in time but they needed to finally do something for themselves. And if something as large as this was what it would take, then so be it.

The kiss was amazing and breathtaking but she was ready to go. She wanted to get all the formalities done and out of the way so that she could spend another night with him. A true night with him, tucked away in his bed and in his arms. It would be the perfect ending to a rather bumpy roller coaster of a ride they'd been on for nearly a year.

Lacing her fingers with his own, she was quick to lead him out of the park and back to the shop. It didn't take then long, not with their quickened pace. She was loathe to release his hands but she did so before pushing open the door to head inside. Cheeks flushed and eyes shining, she quickly sought out her friend. Grabbing Febs' hand, share smiled brightly to her.

"I need a favor," she said quickly though quietly so only her friend and Rufus could hear, "Remember how I said I'd witness for you? Well.." Her voice trailed off as she but her bottom lip and glanced over her shoulder back at Rufus with a look that could only be described as adoration.

Febs was for all intents and purposes, the worst chaperon ever. She'd been watching Tuni and Mr. Bixby very intently, probably a little overtly so, watching every emotion and expression flicker over her best friend's face during the course of the conversation. Febs knew those looks, she knew what they meant, but their body language was a different story altogether and it was what kept Febs from interjecting. Fortunately, things seemed to be going alright after a few minutes, there were tears and smiles, but it appeared that they'd managed to concur whatever obstacle they'd had between them because before she knew it, Febs was catching Tuni's eye and watching the pair disappear for a little while.

Alone time was good, as long as Tuni didn't follow in Febby's rather... askew footsteps...Thankfully Tuni ws much smarter than Febs could ever pretend to be. She would have really hated to have to kill Mr. Bixby for hurting her friend. It wouldn't look very good for the Head Auror's new wife to land herself in jail barely a month after their already dubious nuptials for murder.

Unfortunately now she had to amuse herself, which wasn't all that hard as she engaged one of the bartenders in talk of whiskey for what was indeed a lively conversation. Febs could and would, talk to anybody about anything, so it hadn't exactly been a problem. With a new glass in front of her, one that was to be her last for the evening no matter how long Tuni disappeared for, Febs was surprised to find the couple back before her in a much shorter time than she'd anticipated. That could either be good or bad, but the look on Tuni's face clearly said it was a good thing!

Oh! A very good thing! She eyed Tuni and Rufus carefully, waiting for them to tell her they were just kidding, but a moment passed and she realized they were serious. This was happening! "Now?" Of course now, why else would they have bothered to come find her at that exact moment? "Stupid question, I am the Queen of Impulse decisions," With a wide grin, Febs shot back her measure of whiskey with a pro level unheard of for a former debutante and got up off the stool she'd been occupying. She was one hundred and ten percent ready for this. "Quick request, I need to pen a quick note home." Edric was going to be pissed, but she'd deal with that later.

A quick favor from her new bartender friend had the letter off to her husband telling him not to wait and Febs was ready to go. "Away we go!" She all but cheered.

All Tuni could really do was nod, perhaps a bit eagerly, when Febs asked about it being now. Her grin widened as Febs went on and then down her drink of whiskey in a way that certainly raised a few eyebrows around them. It didn't surprise Tuni in the slightest though. She knew that her friend could handle her whiskey quite magnificently. She ended up nodded to her friends request, even daring to reach back and squeeze Rufus's hand as they waited for her to see to the letter to be sent to her husband. She couldn't begrudge her friend in the slightest. She'd met Edric before, after all, and he was a bit of a sourpuss so Tuni could only imagine how he'd react if Febs was late getting home.

With Febs' cheer to go, the trio left the establishment. It didn't take them long to hash out where they were going and then apparating to their designated location. By the time they got there and saw to the formalities of paperwork and the like, it was well past the midnight hour. Tuni and Rufus would have a Hallow's Eve anniversary. Febs was saw off to her own home and Tuni found herself going along with her husband to his home. The night couldn't have ended in a better way.
