Did you know?

The Language of the Flowers was a popular method to express feelings where words might be improper, but did you know other means of doing so? Some ladies used their parasols, as well as their fans, gloves, and hankies to flirt with a gentleman (or alternatively, tell them to shove it!). — Bree

WANTED:

Ester Montgomery for Thomas Montgomery. The one that got away (with the pornographer...)
This boy, then. He wasn't new. Wasn't one of the worst people in the common room, those rotten rich boys - like Mr. Jailkeeper - who could not fathom a world beyond their own farts. Was a good working class lad, so he'd heard. Had a bit of a weird looking face, and a bit of a weird thing for preaching. Still.

H.K. GOLDWINTER

If there is one thing you should know about Honor Goldwinter, it's that she strives to be more than what is expected of her. While she is incredibly suspectible to the charm and guile of an attractive man, there is nothing more terrifying to her than becoming a run-of-the-mill housewife. It's no wonder that her Boggart was actually her, in a dress that appeared to be far too uncomfortable, with a newborn baby in one hand and a cooking pan in the other.

She is currently training to become an Auror, and in a field that is typically male-dominated, you can imagine the stares and comments that she gets. Though this is a public cry for any power driven female characters that could serve as a mentor or guiding hand who have experience in breaking the mould. Honor does not want to become something unique or special, she simply wants to try and become one of the greatest Aurors that the Ministry has ever seen.

Though desired occupation aside, Honor is absolutely willing to meet new people and expand her social horizons. Despite originating from the upper class, Honor does not hold many cliche notions that the working class may expect from differing social classes. She is a firm believer in equality, having been in attendance at Hogwarts during the chastity debacle, so plots are not restricted when it comes to classes!

Initially, there are a few plot bunnies that I would love to thread in-character for Honor such as a fellow Auror that she perhaps idolises or butts heads with? A female mentor of some sort that doesn't have to be an Auror, a multitude of friends from all walks of life, perhaps a potential love interest that could relate to an arranged marriage or simply courting! On that last note, I am a sucker for forbidden romance, slight age-gaps and an equal balance of slow and fast burn.

tl;dr: please throw all of your characters at me, because I want to meet and love them all! I'm happy to plot out every single detail or establish the bare minimum and fly by the seat of our pants, I'm entirely flexible. Additionally, I do have Discord if that's a preferred method of contact!

She would have been roommates with Gemma Simpson ! Gems is also a working MC lady, though went the herbology route. She's not very feminine and can befriend just about anybody! I imagine they got along alright in school!

Angie Swan was a couple years ahead and a Ravenclaw, but was also UC and was disowned to pursue her career as a curse breaker. She's a BA independent woman lol.

She would also likely know February Umbridge who would have been a year ahead of her in Griffindor, and is also, as of less than two weeks ago, Honor's boss's wife #scandal. Febs was definitely not your typical deb and does not plan to be an idle housewife either.

My newest, Tala Moreno is a few years older and was s Ravenclaw who dropped it after her OWLs, but she's another independent working girl.

Eugene Scamander is my ministry man in the dept for regulation and control of magical creatures, his sister is an unspeakable so he's down with the working ladies.

I think that's a good start!

Maxe, my darling <3 My networking has all 42 of my peeps but off the top of my head, I think she should have a run in with my metamorphmagus (though no one knows that), Robin Ashdown who has a very unique secret.

Hello and welcome! Let's see here..

Clinton Podmore is a Ministry man, Assistant Head of the whole Dept of Control of Magical Creatures. He's rather confident, bordering on arrogant, but knows how to lay on the charm. He's a notorious flirt and will flirt with any woman that he deems good looking (he's really not that picky, ngl). He will eventually avoid them if they start to seem clingy. Soo... he could be an interesting one to throw at her. He's likely flirted with her any time he's seen her at the Ministry.

Felicity Adlard is close in age and a bit of a headstrong type herself. If they were/are friends, she'd likely try to matchmake for her cause that's jut kinda what she does.

@"Fortuna Lockhart" is also close in age, a smidge older, and very much a headstrong and smart type. She'd definitely be the type to befriend her and likely wouldn't have turned away after her "fall from grace."

Gideon Ollivander could have potential romantic ties. He runs the Ollivander's shop in Hogsmeade and is on the desperate hunt for a wife atm. Not sure if she'd fit that category as much as he'd like cause he needs a lady in his life to see to the help of raising his unexpected daughter.

Jameson Jewell is another notorious flirt and helps run the family biz of alcohol. They'd be interesting to see in a thread, I think. Who knows where it would go with him though. He's not all that keen on marrying any time soon.

Louisa Lupin would likely be one to not continue a friendship but would have known her through the UCPB circles. She wants adventure for herself but would never go outright and do anything so might be a bit envious of what Honor did. She'd still likely openly shun her though.

Lycoris Dempsey is also close in age and from a bit of an eccentric fam so could easily be friends with Honor.

Magdalena Byrne is also close in age but was originally WC and has no bumped to MC thanks to an elopement.. Talk about scandal. She currently owns and runs a bakery called Magdalena's in London. She needs all the friends.

Raymond Beasley is a WC man who is all about equality and whatnot and is part of a revolutionary group that meets at a pub in London. He's rough and brash and boxes in back alleys. He could probably have had a run in with her during such an event that maybe got busted for some other illegal things going on?

Una Walsh , Vivienne Tilcott & Zinnia Potts are all close-ish in age (Una's a bit older) but all are "working" middle class ladies and kinda just do their own thing/live in their own worlds.

Totally got lazy at the end, my bad. Anywho! Hit me up if you want to discuss any further! I've got discord as well! Hawke.raine#2588

Hey, Maxe! Welcome to Charming!

I don't have too many people for you, unfortunately, but I do have:

Gilbert Whitechapel A 20 year old, also fellow Gryffindor! He only attended until 5th year, but they likely would have known each other. He's a bit of an odd duck, but he's gregarious and flirty half of the time. (In modern times, he would be diagnosed as bi-polar, most likely) He's an eccentric inventor, and he definitely doesn't mind strong-minded women. His best friend is always trying to get him into relationships with girls, so perhaps they got set up at some point.

The rest of my Hogsmeade characters are either too old or children, but, if you don't mind that, Billie Farrow would probably ask Honor about a million questions about being and auror. Especially since Honor is a woman with a 'cool job.'

Again, welcome!

I'd really love to thread her with Reuben Crouch! He's a MCPB and former freelance cursebreaker who has been involved in several semi-legal get-rich-quick schemes this year. He's also a womanizer who thinks female aurors are sexy. ;)

Maybe we could brainstorm some trouble for him to get into that she would be involved in investigating, to make the thread more interesting than just a meet-and-greet. What do you think?

is it a crime to love too well?
To bear too tender, or too firm a heart, to act a lover's or a Roman's part?

Hi Maxe, welcome to Charming! <3

I have one connection for you! Honor and September Lynch were in the same year and house together while at school. Given her social climbing tendencies, I'm sure Amber would have been quick to try and befriend Honor, though likely would have dropped the acquaintance after graduation. Cue the awkward run-ins!

Please send all alerts to Imogen MacFusty, thank you! <3

Hudson Woodcroft ,
Butting heads sounds like the perfect place to start! Honor thrives off of sarcasm and a healthy rivalry, though she is still a trainee so she won't continuously try to upstage or challenge Hudson, haha. I think if he was deliberately a little hard on her and she didn't just roll over and take it (ironically, I'm channelling Tris and Four?!) it could make for some pretty good threading. Do you think Hudson would have any input on her practical/field training?

Gemma Simpson ,
I am almost certain that both Gemma and Honor spent a bunch of afternoons visiting the greenhouses and studying together when exams came around. Honor would have needed all of the friends she could get after being disowned, and with her moving to Bartonburg, I think it would have been the ideal time for Gemma and Honor to reconnect and perhaps see a lot more of each other? I can envision the pair of them having a standing 'date' every Wednesday (or whichever day) where they meet, have lunch and just vent away their frustrations.

Angie Swan ,
Gimmie! Gimmie! Honor is going to idolise Angie like there is absolutely no tomorrow. Honor isn't trying to refute stereotypes or stick it to the man, she just simply wants to be brilliant at what she does, and not have people underestimate her because she's a woman? Even though that particular fact has helped her kick ass on more than one occasion. Though with that aside, I think if Honor were to meet Angie, she'd latch onto her for dear life and just try to emulate her?

February Umbridge ,
Now, Honor isn't one to gossip, but even she raised an eyebrow when she heard that February and her devilishly handsome boss tied the knot out of the blue! Maybe she is visiting the Ministry, bringing her husband lunch or something entirely mundane? Of course Honor can strike up a conversation, they can recognise each other from their school days, and perhaps it can give Feb the opportunity to vent any frustrations she may have with currently only being a housewife?

Eugene Scamander ,
So Eugene is a complete cutie! Care of Magical Creatures happened to be one of Honor's favourite classes, so she's always been interested in the variety of creatures and beasts that are out there in the wizarding world! Perhaps they can frequently see each other in a particular corridor, or around the wizarding equivalent of a water cooler? Haha. Honor would be more than happy to listen to stories about what he's seen / working on!

Gems is the least judgmental of my characters, so she wouldn't put much thought into the disowning etc. I will say she is one of my biggest space cadets though and she's terrible with keeping up with friends, especially after graduation, so Honor would totally have to remind her frequently. XD

Angie needs some girlfriends, so I'm down for them to get to know one another! She travels frequently for work, but can be found around London for the time being before she goes back out on assignment. She frequents the Augurey Beak Cafe and Magdalena's bakery!

As for Febs, she is avoiding the ministry like the plague right about now there's too much gossip fodder floating around for her to even attempt that, but if they ran into one another somewhere else that would be fine! She's actually kind of content with her living situation, so probably wouldn't have too much to complain about. There's a laundry list of drama leading up to that elopement haha! Things might depend on how you decide with Miri how September (Febs' sister) and Honor get along!

And my darling Eugene, he's a chatterbox, so any of those things are likely!

tl:dr I can probably handle 1 thread to start at the moment and our best bets are probably Angie or Eugene!

Clinton Podmore
Why are all of the men of Charming so good looking? I suppose there are worse problems to have! Haha. So I've been pondering that Honor typically plays up on the fact that most men assume she isn't seen around the Ministry because she's an Auror-in-training, so through no fault of his own, Clinton could perhaps begin flirting with her and make a quip about which department she's the secretary for? I'm just spitballing at the moment, but truthfully I think Honor would like Clinton, even if she is somewhat aware that he flirts with any pretty thing that comes along.

Felicity Adlard
We should absolutely see what mischief Felicity can get into in an attempt to find Honor a worthy bachelor. Or alternatively we could have them meeting to talk about an awful blind date that Honor went on after Felicity worked her magic?

@"Fortuna Lockhart"
Fortuna is so pretty, it hurts! Honor needs more friends that didn't turn their back on her after her "fall from grace." I'm not entirely sure how much stigma there would be in regards to a female writer, but I think they would find common ground over whatever adversity they would come across?

Gideon Ollivander
Please just assume that I think all of your characters are precious buttons that need to be protected at all costs, because I have a sneaky suspicion that it might get old real fast. Though before I digress, I do think there's a lot of potential here! My first thought is that perhaps Honor's wand is slightly damaged (such as splintering) or was hit with a jinx that caused discolouration during a field exercise (I'm not entirely knowledgeable on minor wand damage, believe it or not) and she visits Ollivander's to enquire as to whether or not it is salvageable.

I think she'll find herself infatuated with Gideon from the get go, as any girl would be with him. They'll get to talking and I don't know if he brings his daughter to work, but perhaps she could be around and Honor could potentially ask about his wife? Of course he doesn't have one, queue the awkwardness and I just feel as though it could be very cutesy but ultimately they'll both discover that unfortunately it won't work out because they both need different things? I promise this made a lot more sense in my head, but I'm suffering from a cold and I've taken one too many Neurofen!

Jameson Jewell
I'm sure we could find something to do with them, since they both reside within the same part of Hogsmeade. Maybe they see one another each morning and exchange pleasantries? Or alternatively it could be one of Honor's days off from training and she tops by to pick up a present for the father of the family she's living with?

Louisa Lupin
Honor could always benefit from somewhat of an antagonist and a "blast from the past" could be just the thing that reminds her of the bad taste the upper class left in the back of her mouth. Though at the same time, I'm certain that Honor would tolerate Louisa's verbal evisceration in order to try and manoeuvre her into garnering some information from her about her parents and brother — if Louisa would have any information that is!

Lycoris Dempsey
Honor adores eccentric and I'm sure they would manage to strike up a conversation and become friends! Is there anywhere in particular that Honor could find Lycoris?

Magdalena Byrne
It seems that Magdalena's scandal is on the opposite end of the spectrum in regards to bumping and falling from one class to another. I'm sure it would provide them with some common ground, and perhaps when Honor is in London for her training, she frequents the bakery? Maybe she can convince Magdalena to take a load off and have something to eat with her? Because that isn't creepy at all, but at least it's a starting point?! I'd be happy for any alternatives that you might have in mind!

Raymond Beasley
Perhaps Honor is spending the night in London after late night training or studying at the Ministry and dares to venture out and explore the bustling city. She could either come across the pub that Raymond frequents, they begin to talk and it comes up that he's going to be boxing? Of course, somewhat new to London nightlife, Honor will be brimming with exhilaration and despite possibly losing her place on the training program, she decides to live a little and goes to watch? Then it can be broken up by the police and overall just become a pretty unorthodox yet cutesy night of adventure?

Gilbert Whitechapel
I think Honor would like to get to know Gilbert, he's the kind of interesting that she could indulge herself with for hours. She'd have a ton of questions about his work and what he got up too after departing Hogwarts, and I'm sure there are a few npc students that Gilbert might want to know about (how they did, did others drop out and such) so we could begin there?

Billie Farrow
Honor isn't accustomed to people genuinely asking about her work as an Auror-in-training, so it might be refreshing if she were able to explain it to someone younger. She might want to know what he's doing around, whether he has parents that know where he is and just tap into a mothering side she had no idea she had?

Reuben Crouch
Well isn't Reuben the most attractive scoundrel this side of Hogsmeade? I can see Honor straying towards the path of untamed exhilaration, and I'm sure that Reuben has a few ways in which he can tempt Honor into testing the boundaries of the law. I don't think in her naive and somewhat curious mind that she could resist a tale of a get rich quick scheme, or an invitation to see how a suave would-be racketeer operates!
