Willow is a little sprig of a thing, standing at only four foot six inches. She’s quite slender and, with time, could grow into her namesake and hold a willowy build. Her hair has never been cut and as such is quite long. It is a long wavy and curly mess of tangles most of the tie and quite the bane of her mother’s existence when trying to style it. As such, her hair is rarely seen in anything more elaborate than a braid coiled at the nape of her neck. Her eyes are a rather striking pale blue and contrast beautifully against slightly tanned skin and sunkissed brown hair. Her clothing typically has seen better days and her dresses often consist of hand me downs from her mother originally then down to her sister. She is strictly right handed.
Pre-birth: Cohen and Kelsey met one day when Kelsey was found admiring some flowers in a planter box Cohen had constructed. He was sure she was inspecting his craftsmanship and she was sure he had grown the beautiful flowers. Neither was right, obviously, but it lead to a rather interesting meeting that quickly turned into a courtship. It wasn’t long before they were married and having children. The love between them was strong so Cohen hardly objected to Kelsey’s insistence on naming their children after trees.
1875: Willow is born, a long and lanky child with a mess of hair already. She was a quiet child from the start, always staring about with her brilliant blue eyes that seemed to only lighten in time.
1876: The final Ridley child is born. A boy to be named Banyan.
1877: The uprising against magical folk begins but the Ridley’s have little to do with it. They are not a family opposed to the others. Kelsey, after all, had been friends with a witch since childhood. Meredith had let her secret slip once when showing Kelsey some of the more interesting magical plants, knowing Kelsey would appreciate them. It was a secret they shared and never told a soul
1878: Oak begins working with Cohen and learning the tricks of woodcrafting.
1880: While visiting Meredith, Willow shows signs of magic. She is saddened at the sight of a withering plant and the strong emotion to feels over the loss of the flower causes it to instantly bloom. Kelsey and Meredith are shocked. Luckily the witch recognizes what it is and tells Kelsey what it is. She also offers her help with Willow to keep her abilities secret from the rest of the world. Cohen is rather excited to have a witch in the family.
1883: Meredith tells Kelsey about a place called Irvingly where some magical folk and non magical live together in some sort of harmony. She suggests it as a place to move the family so it is safer for Willow and with it being a new town a woodworker could surely be of use. The family packs up their things and make the move.
1886: The family is well settled in Irvingly and anxiously awaiting to see if Willow will indeed receive a letter to Hogwarts. They’re still holding out hope than Banyan may show signs of magic as well but the chances are looking slim. During the summer, some magic gone awry results in some winged piglets. Willow catches one and manages to bring it home, deeming it her new pet. And while that may be all and well, Kelsey informs her she can't take the pig to Hogwarts. A teacher from Hogwarts does end up visiting the Ridley's, informing them that Willow will indeed attend Hogwarts starting that semester. The boat ride to the school terrifies her and the things she hears along the way to school makes her a bit nervous but she still remained excited. It isn't until she's temporarily sorted into Slytherin that she worries maybe she shouldn't have gone to Hogwarts. Luckily, she's sorted into Gryffindor once the Sorting Hat is recovered. She's glad to be out of the chilly dungeons with the even colder Slytherins though is still nervous about how she'll be accepted as a muggle among so many new people.
Sweet. Quiet. Bright. Cautious.
