Zian's most noticeable feature is easily his height. Standing at 6'4", he towers over most of the people he comes across. This, in addition to his muscular frame, makes him physically imposing. He has the Mandarin characters for his sisters' names tattooed along his right side. They are ordered from oldest to youngest. He's more vain than he'd like to admit, so he keeps up with fashion and its many trends. Most of his clothing has a distinct East Asian influence; he doesn't think much of Western styles on their own. He's left handed.
Zian was born in Beijing. As the first son of a well off, titled diplomat and an heiress, his parents doted on him and spared no expense when it came to his upbringing.

 Mei was born.

 Xia and Bao were born.

 Fang was born.

 Ju was born.

Lei was born. She was the seventh and last child. Soon after, Zian began his first year at school.

-1869| Zian attended school. He excelled in his studies and graduated with impressive scores on his examinations. It was during this time that he met Li Xu, the girl who would later become his wife.

After consulting with his father and uncles, Zian decided to follow in their footsteps and seek employment in his country's Ministry of Magic. As the son of a high ranking diplomat, he was offered opportunities that many others were not privy to. He was placed in the international office as an aide to a foreign liaison. Part of his training involved crash courses in the languages of the governments his boss corresponded with.

Zian reconnected with Li when they attended the wedding of a mutual friend. Before parting ways, they promised to keep in touch via letters. Over the next three years, they cultivated a deep friendship that eventually morphed into mutual romantic affection.

 Zian and Li began courting.

Zian and Li announced their engagement in February. They married five months later in July.

One of Zian's assignments placed him, along with four other members of his department, in Britain for a handful of years. He and Li moved there together.

While on holiday in Ireland, Li decided to take a walk alone at night. They were staying near a grassy cliff side that overlooked a beach. The grass grew long and curled over the cliff's edges, creating the illusion of land where there wasn't any. In the darkness, Li made the same fatal mistake many others had. Her body was discovered on the beach the next morning. Zian was utterly devastated. He traveled back to China to make arrangements for her funeral.

Unable to bear living in the home where they planned to raise their children by himself, Zian sold the property. Soon after, he decided to resign from his position in the Chinese Ministry of Magic and move back to Britain for a fresh start. His family questioned the logic behind his decision. In the end, he agreed to let his two youngest sisters come with him to ease their worries.

With his family's money, working wasn't strictly necessary, but after weeks of wallowing in his grief at home, he decided to seek employment. He applied for an open liaison position at the British Ministry of Magic and got the job.

When wasn't working, he was wrangling his sisters' many suitors while also ignoring their pointed questions about when he planed to start thinking about marriage again. Both of his sisters end up courting and are engaged by the year's end.

Ju is married in February and Lei is married in October. Zian is left on his own in London and decides to focus on work to avoid thinking about his empty home.

Zian decides that he can't shirk his responsibilities to his family line any longer and starts actively seeking a courtship.
sociable | family oriented | kind | gentle | forgiving |  patient | serially avoids conflict | polyglot (chinese, japanese, english, french, german)
