Did you know?

First names were most often used by childhood or school friends. If the friendship was made after school age, first names would only really be used by women. Men were far more likely to refer to their friends by their surnames, a mark of familiarity. — Documentation

WANTED:

Emilia Wright for Jude Wright. Casually alienating offspring since 18882.
Separating was also not a great idea, though they weren't doing great at staying together anyway. If she were to volunteer to be the human sacrifice.. well... Hogsmeade had plenty of debutantes anyway...

Don't Drink the Champagne

Aphrodite Soiree
Brendan still wasn't entirely sure why he'd accepted the ticket to such an event as the Aphrodite Soiree. But, as a man with a bit of an ego, he hadn't been able to turn down such an idea when he'd been mentioned as being a figure of Hogsmeade thanks to his position with the Hospital. He had been there from the beginning, after all, so it would make sense. Being the Head of his department only helped in that regard. He, however, was very much  a skeptic when it came to love. Finding true love really wasn't something that he thought was possible. His own mother hadn't even been able to remain faithful to the man she deemed to love. It made it a bit hard for him to expect anything otherwise as a result.

Regardless, he was there. The cocktail hour, perhaps, would be the highlight of the evening for him. Dinner would be awful, he was certain. Being stuck at a table with others he hardly knew wouldn't be much fun though it was still required of him. And then there would be dancing. He'd have to put on a smile and act as if he was enjoying himself. He'd just have to make sure he had plenty to drink prior.

Nodding idly as another gentleman prattled on about something he was no longer even sure of, Brendan noticed a member of the waitstaff looking about a big nervously. Blue eyes honed in on the man, taking note of what looked like he had poured something into a glass of champagne on his tray. His gaze narrowed at what he saw and he quickly made excuses to the gentleman he'd been all but ignoring and went after the waiter. His narrowed gaze widened as he watched the man hand off the glass of champagne to a young woman, offer a sickeningly sweet smile and walked away. Torn between going after the man or telling the woman, his decision was quickly made up for him when he saw said woman move to take a drink.

He got there just in time to quickly snatch the glass from her before it met her lips. "You shouldn't drink that," he said abruptly before quickly pouring it out into a potted plant beside them without a second thought.

Caroline was taking a break from the dancing for refreshments. She’d had no assigned dance partner for this dance and was actually almost relieved. She enjoyed getting to know others but this almost seemed excessive. Accepting a glass of champagne from the waitstaff Caroline took the moment to survey the crowd as she took a sip of her drink, looking to see if there was someone she might converse with for a song or two before she went back out there. At least that was the plan.

Out of nowhere a gentleman swooped in and her glass, only moments from her lips, was snatched away. She watched as he dumped it into a nearby putted plant, rather put out. It wasn’t like she had imbibed too much alcohol and Shawn determined she’d had enough. Why she’d only had a glass or two. Not to mention this gentleman certainly was not her brother or guardian in any shape of the word. Containing to annoyance, Caroline arched a brow at him. “Oh?” Clearly she was waiting for an explanation as she crossed her arms and stared him down.
