    Race: ghost
Occupation: Haunting the Museum of Magical Miscellany
    Reputation: 5
Residence: The Museum of Magical Miscellany (in London)
    Blood status: Halfblood
    Social Class: Middle
    Family:
    Father- Richard Bott- b. 1840
Mother- Susanna Bott (née Whitechurch) – 1847-1877
Stepmother- Lydia Bott (née Edgecombe)- b. 1857
Sister- Elizabeth “Betsy” Bott, b. 1867
Brother- Robert “Bobby” Bott, b. 1870
    Half-brother- William “Billy” Bott, b. 1879
    Half-sister- Charlotte “Lottie” Bott, b. 1883

Appearance: In life, Alfie had dark blonde hair and hazel eyes, but now, both his hair and eyes are greyish silver and transparent like the rest of him. Otherwise, he looks exactly as he did at age seven (and five sixths). He is four feet tall with an average build for a child of his former age. He weighs exactly nothing because he’s a ghost and is always dressed in the same (rather ironically) grey shirt that his mother dressed him in the day he died.
    History:
1869- Alfie is born to Richard Bott, a pureblood wizard and his wife, Susanna, a muggle, in the village of Castle Combe in Wiltshire. He is their second child and first son. His big sister, Betsy, is quite pleased to have a little brother to play with. He is quite a happy baby and is content to be held by just about anyone. He even puts up with Betsy dressing him in her doll clothes without so much as a peep.
1870- Soon after giving birth to Alfie, Susanna falls pregnant again and, when he is just eleven months old, gives birth to a second son, who they name William, Bobby for short. Bobby is a rather more demanding baby and gives his parents quite a lot of sleepless nights in the first years of his life.
1873 Alfie shows signs of magic for the first time when he levitates a jar of jam down to the floor for him and Bobby while his mother’s back is turned. By the time she notices, it is already half eaten.
1875 Alfie begins his first year at the village school. He is quick to make friends and enjoys learning his letters, but looks forward to the next year when Bobby can join him there. He enjoys having Betsy with him there at school, but she isn’t quite the same as Bobby, who remains his best friend despite their daily separation.
1876 Bobby finally joins Alfie at school after a whole year’s wait.
1877 The queen is nearly assassinated by a member of the nobility who she didn’t know was a wizard and the word gets out to the muggle community in Britain about the existence of wizards. By summer, Alfie’s family is found out by their neighbors (thanks to an instance of accidental magic on Bobby's part in which he turned a teacher's hair green at school after she rapped him on the knuckles for drawing on the desks). They don’t take well to having wizards in their midst and the Bott family is shunned socially. Luckily for them, none of the neighbors see fit to take up against them in any violent way (aside from a few instances of vandalism on their house). They consider moving, but Susanna's family had lived in that town and that house for generations. They decide to stay and hope that people will overlook the fact that they are wizards and accept them again. Unfortunately for them, not all of their neighbors' disdain for wizards stops short of violence. On June 8, a group of older boys see Alfie and Bobby playing down by the river and decide to do something about them. Two of the boys grab Alfie and drag him into the river and hold him under the water. The others try to catch Billy, but he manages to run away and goes straight home to tell his mother what is happening. Meanwhile, Alfie struggles with all he has, but the older boys are too strong. The last thing he remembers seeing before he loses consciousness for the last time is his mother running down the bank toward him. She struggles with the other two boys in an attempt to save her son, but is soon shoved backwards, strikes the back of her head on a rock and dies instantly. The boys all flee the scene and, while Bobby describes them in detail to the police, no real effort is put into finding them as everyone in the town already sees their family as the enemy. After the obliviators make their way through the town, the case is dropped entirely and everyone remembers Alfie’s and his mother’s deaths as tragic accidents. Alfie fell into the river and his mother rushed to his aid, but slipped along the way with fatal results.

In the meantime, Alfie, who knows nothing of his mother’s death, is terrified of leaving her, his father and rest of his family behind to see what more death had in store for him. Rather than move on, he chooses to come back as a ghost so that he can live with his family just as he had before. It is only when he returns that he finds out that his mother has died and, as he will never move on to whatever is waiting on the other side of the veil and, as a muggle, she wasn’t able to come back as a ghost, he will never see her again. While it is difficult to stay in the same town as Alfie's and Susanna's murderers, with three children and a modest ministry job, Richard can't justify spending the money to move now that the existence of wizards is a mystery to everyone in town again, so they stay there.

1878 Thinking it unfair for Betsy and Bobby to grow up without a mother (and for Alfie to spend the actual childhood part of his eternal childhood without a mother), Richard remarries as soon as the official mourning period is over. His new bride is a twenty one year old pureblood debutante by the name of Lydia Edgecombe. She seems nice enough to Alfie, but Bobby wants nothing to do with her. She is always a bit unnerved by Alfie, but makes an effort with him anyhow. Betsy goes off to Hogwarts for the first time in September and doesn’t really have much time to get used to their new mother.

1879 Lydia falls pregnant and gives birth to a son who they name William or Billy for short. Alfie notices for the first time that he’s the only one of his siblings that doesn’t have a nickname staring with B and feels a bit left out. He mentions it to his father who promises him that if they have another child, they will make sure that he or she does not have a B nickname.

1881 Bobby goes away to Hogwarts as well, leaving Alfie alone at home and feeling quite young and out of place. He would be in his second year at Hogwarts if he was still alive. He would be twelve already. But instead, he is still seven and ten months and he always will be seven and ten months.

Bored without Bobby around to play with, he spends more and more time with Billy who is getting older and starting to walk. When he starts trying to walk through walls, like Alfie can, Lydia begins to seriously worry about the effect that growing up with a ghost brother will have on her son. She starts talking to Richard about the possibility of finding another place that Alfie can stay in the long term (seeing as the long term, for him, is literally forever). At first, Richard is diametrically opposed to doing anything with Alfie, but she doesn't give up. For months, she coerces and argues until finally, she flat out threatens to run off with another man (who doesn't actually exist) and bring Billy with her if nothing is done about Alfie. Richard finally gives in and talks to someone he knows at the Museum of Magical Miscellany about Alfie staying there along with other victims of the Muggle Riots of 1877 and a whole lot of other ghosts connected to items and events in the museum.

Alfie hates it at the museum, particularly at first, but can't go home as he doesn't know the way. Richard, who works at the ministry and floos in daily anyhow, visits him as often as possible and brings the rest of the family when he can, but it isn’t at all the same. He is very sad there and makes a new habit of following guest and staff around the museum, holding his hand near theirs and if he is holding hands with them and pretending that they are his mother or father.

1882- If things aren’t bad enough, when his father brings Bobby and Betsy to see him when they finish with school, Bobby acts like a completely different person. He hardly wants to talk to Alfie at all and even calls him a baby when he starts to cry as they are getting ready to leave. He feels even smaller, younger and more left behind than he did when Bobby left for school. He’s almost glad that he doesn’t have to be at home to see his once younger brother like that all the time. He loves Bobby too much to write him off as a friend, but a best friend he is no longer. He starts to approach children who come to the museum more often in search of a new best friends, but it isn’t easy when it’s a new set of children visiting the museum every day and so many of them are frightened of him.

1883 Alfie gets a new baby sister who, as per his dad’s promise is named Charlotte, Lottie for short. His dad half forces Lydia bring her to visit as soon as she’s old enough to go back in public, and from time to time after that, but Lydia is reluctant to expose Lottie to him too much, so it's a rarity. Missing his family even more, Alfie starts following other families home on occasion, then individual people, particularly if they remind him of his mother. Basically anyone who walks or takes the knight bus home is fair game. There are some complaints to the spirit division and, from time to time, he gets a gentle talking to, but nobody actually stops him, so he keeps on doing it.

1885 Betsy graduates from Hogwarts and starts working. Alfie hopes to see her more often, but, like their dad, she is too busy with work (and trying to find a husband) to visit him every day. He continues his shenanigans with following people around in and out of the museum because, honestly, what else is there for him to do all day and night?

Personality: Alfie is a very sweet, endearing child if you can overlook the fact that he’s dead. He’s rarely loud or rowdy. The only time that he steps out of the boundaries of what he ought to do is when he follows people home who don’t actually want him there. That’s not to say that he isn’t at all outgoing. He’s always more than willing to force his presents on children who are afraid of him or adults who are unnerved by him.

While Alfie is technically seventeen years old, he looks like he did at age seven, when he died...only, you know, more silvery grey, see through and floaty.
