Leroy isn't amazingly tall, standing at 5'4". What he lacks in height he makes up for in personality. He's loud, boysterous and is usually with a grin on his face. He smiles easily, and has a sort of swagger about him that is fully backed up by a wicked sense of humour, charm and street smarts. He's got large, worn hands, and is ambidextrous. He's got dark eyebrows, under a mop of dark hair that is usually a little bit wild and blown off to one side. His whole face crinkles when he laughs. He's been told he doesn't look like a thing like his father did when he dropped him off at the Cameron's doorstep, so he can only assume he looks more like his mother.
Leroy was born to Elizabeth and Benjamin Handsome in 1865. That's all that he really knows about his birth. He doesn't know where he lived for the two years before his mother's death. All he knows is that shortly after his mother passed away, his father dropped him off with the Camerons, which is where he remained. He doesn't really have any memories from this time.
He remembers countless children in the early years. All of which he's not sure he's remembering properly. Some have simply been conflated into one person, in his mind. There was Minnie and Olly before he arrived. George came a year after him. A year later comes another Minnie, Ax and, of course, Alberta. There's a whirlwind of activity around The Jinxed Jackrabbit. Leroy had lots of children to play with (and tease, most of all Alberta), but he was already expected to help keep everything together. He adapted quickly.
When Leroy is 7, he's told his father has passed away in America. He hadn't even thought about his father in years. He cares very little for the man that left him. He's more concerned for the baby that drowned, and the death of Minnie (the older), followed by Ax (whom he was close with) and Bonny a year after that.
For a while, death hangs over Leroy. He's plagued by nightmares and is convinced he's contracted some terrible decease when he constantly wakes up itchy and covered in spots. It turns out it's only bed-bugs.
He never understood why Olly would just run away. He resents him for that.
The Camerons decide to accept Leroy as their son in 1876. He's sent to Hogwarts, where he's sorted into Hufflepuff. He's unsure about the upheavel. He decides straight away that he doesn't like school. He has a hard time focusing in class, and his reading skills are appalling no matter how hard he tries (he's dyslexic). He also gets into fights often. A few times in defense of his "sister" Bertie (whether she needs it or not). He's nearly kicked out in his 4th year for hexing a student, but he feels hard done by for the whole thing because the kid snapped his wand and he couldn't afford a new one. He had to steal a new wand from a passed out drunk in Knockturn Alley, but it never has worked properly for him.
The end of his career at Hogwarts came when he failed all of his OWLs and was told, in no uncertain terms, that he best not come back for his 6th year. He felt a little hurt that they would just dump him like that, but he was also relieved. He'll tell anyone who will listen that he chose to leave Hogwarts and help with the family business. He's certain the family needs his help, always. And, honestly, he likes helping out.
