    Finn Rowe
    In Character

    Full Name: Finn Keegan Rowe
    Nicknames: Fionn Fionnlagh
    Birthdate: January 15th,  1860
    Current Age: 27
    Occupation: Spell Damage Healer
    Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Wand: Hawthorn, 9 3/4 inches, Griffin Feather, reasonably pliant
    Blood Status: Muggleborn
    Social Class: Lower Class

Finn has a remarkably boyish look to him with a sturdy but ultimately average build reaching 5’6 in height.  With medium brown hair and eyes to match, his features are soft and almost rounded but very expressive and can swing from anxious to delight in an instant.   He is technically ambidextrous but only naturally uses his left hand when he’s distracted or eating and will always choose muggle attire when available.

1860: Finn is born into a sizeable itinerant community.  Known as Irish Travelers in polite society and by worse terms in less gracious circles, they called themselves Pavee.  He grows up speaking both Gaelic and Shelta but would eventually add English and a few Romani words to his repertoire.
1865:  Partly due to their nomadic lifestyle, partly because they were often shunned by settled society, Finn is educated with other children within the community instead of in a school.
1868:  While their caravan is camped outside London for the winter Finn contracts ‘ Vanishing Sickness’ presumably from the hidden magical population in the city.  He spends a week in panic, watching various parts of his body vanish only to reappear every time he tried to show an adult.  Eventually someone in the magical community got wind and whisked him off to St. Mungos.  He learned lots of things during that stay like the word ‘muggle’ and that Vanishing Sickness was extremely contagious but only if you’re a wizard.  Which apparently he was.

It was a jarring way to learn he was a muggleborn wizard but even worse was learning there was an entire world of unknown illnesses that he, specifically, could contract underscored by the trauma of knowing something was wrong with him while no one would believe him.
1871: Finn takes all three years between his trip to St. Mungos and his invitation to Hogwarts to psych himself into going.  While everything in him fought against leaving the tight-knit, insular community he’d grown up in he found great comfort in the idea that if he went to this strange school he might learn about magic illnesses so that they could never take him by surprise again.  His parents were equally reluctant to let him go and only found solace in a weak, flimsy connection between this magic and the more mystical elements of their religion.
1873:  Hogwarts was a tough adjustment but communal living was too strongly ingrained in him for him to keep a distance from his schoolmates  for too long.   By the time his third year rolls around his teachers had long taken note of his interest in magical maladies and had begun to steer him towards electives that would support a career as healer.
1877:  When Finn goes home for the summer after his 6th year he finds the effects of the Queen’s crusade against magic had reached his community.  Often associated with Romani stereotypes and therefore with fortune tellers their community had been easy targets.  His magical status was not known to the whole community but that did not stop his mother from disowning him.  He spends the summer staying with distant relatives and working to raise tuition money for this final year at Hogwarts.
1878: He graduates and is accepted for a healer internship.  It comes as a surprise to literally no one that he is drawn to the Magical Bugs department since that's where he was treated as a boy and when he is promoted to full healer he excels as a diagnostician.
1880: Things looked very promising for a few years until the fears and anxieties that had been been brewing in him culminated in an episode so severe he locked himself in his room for 4 days, convinced he had spattergroit.   He transfers to the Spell Damage department, a subject he is less passionate about but is far far better for his mental health.
1882:  What was an obsessive interest as a boy had blossomed into anxieties he has mixed results in controlling.  He has found that it helps to keep busy and he often volunteers for extra shifts at work but what helps most are his friends who he does his best to surround himself with.
1884: With the unique position of being a Lower Class healer Finn often gets visits from those who can’t afford a trip to the Hospital.  In October he receives one such visit from a close friend.  While seeing to a wound that had been left to fester he couldn’t help but put together the clues with the context and figure out that Keiran was not being entirely truthful about how he got the wound.  Finn spends several months afterwards trying write it off as a delusion but eventually it became impossible to ignore the number of times his friend looks haggard after every full moon.

Also that year, Finn experiences Thanksgiving dinner for the first time.  Put on by an American friend, he goes in wondering if it was some sort of sacrificial celebration and comes out thinking Americans are a tad too fond of gourds.  But at least there was pie!
1885: The Revs host a remarkably successful Blood Equality celebration in Diagon Alley and it goes a long way to restoring Finn’s faith in humanity.

Personality: Finn is prone to anxiety, mostly when it comes to illnesses, but can easily bleed into other areas of his life in times of stress.  He does not like being alone for extended periods of time and is not above showing up on a friend’s doorstep just to have some company.   His anxieties aside he is usually light hearted and jovial if not a little eccentric.  He is among the first to join in at the slightest hint of group singing and thinks food tastes better when shared.  He drinks socially and often, leaving him with a pretty high tolerance for alcohol.

Finn has mixed feelings about the anglican influence on his name but when drunk his irish pride rises considerably and often demands to be called Fionn Fionnlagh (the gaelic equivalent of Finn Finley).  A difference only he and possibly other native Gaelic speakers can hear.   He has strong feelings about labor and voting laws, having experienced first hand both the dismal factory working conditions and being barred from voting despite being an intelligent and educated man.
