Amelia has a fairly normal stature. She stands at 5'' 1", and is oftentimes underestimated because of her gender and size. She has long auburn hair and a pale face with a few freckles splattered across her nose bridge, which she absolutely despises. Her wand arm is her right arm. Although middle class, Amelia often walks very daintily, and moves with a certain calmness and confidence about her. Her main features though are her eyes. She has complete heterochromia, meaning one iris is a completely different color than her other iris. Her right eye is a deep amber color while her left is a rich brown. Amelia usually wears a simple white blouse with a small silver pendant at her neck that has pictures of her sister, and Uncle Gard and Aunt Cornelia in it. She usually wears a blue bustled skirt and simple black boots. Her hair is usually up on top of her head. Even though she works with animals, Amelia often smells of orange blossoms, a scent that reminds her of the good times with her sister when they were playing in their yard, giggling and laughing.
Amelia was born to Jane and Richard Evans in 1860. By then, she already had a 2 year old sister; Rosa-Anne, a small stout little girl, with auburn pigtails and a violent pink dress. There was an absolute gale happening that day, and anyone with a sliver of superstition would have taken that to mean extremely bad luck. Amelia’s parents did not. They were too practical for that.
Rosa-Anne and Amelia became close buddies. Rosa-Anne was always outgoing and extremely taken with all the boys. Amelia was less so - more quiet, and into her books. But she always spoke her mind at the dinner table - or anywhere for that matter. She simply did not have a filter. The servants doted on Amelia, but Jane berated them for being too soft on her. Secretly, they still showed a soft spot for Amelia, who was always kind and gave them sweets from her mother’s candy jar on the kitchen table. Despite her size, Amelia was a very good climber, and extremely discreet.
It wasn’t until Amelia started showing signs of magic that the household was thrown into chaos. This is because Amelia’s mother absolutely despised
everything there was to know about magic. Jane thought it was dangerous and not suit for a proper lady. The first time Amelia showed signs of magic, she made one of her sister’s porcelain dolls stand straight up and start dancing. Unfortunately, her mother had just walked in to check on the girls, and at the sight of Amelia and Rosa-Anne laughing hysterically about it, she gave an almighty scream, dropping the china she was holding and making both Rosa-Anne and Amelia bawl. After that, Amelia was under constant observation. A lady’s maid was stationed in her room, instructed to report if there was any magic. Amelia was terrified. Her parents suddenly started avoiding her and not talking to her during meals. Such a small girl, and she had no idea what was going on with her. It wasn’t until Amelia’s aunt and uncle caught wind of what the poor girl was going through that she was finally free. But it didn’t come without a price.
Jane Evans looked down on her daughter like she was a piece of filth, and Richard…well Amelia's father was never around to begin with - he had always favored Rosa-Anne. Uncle Gard came around that Christmas with Aunt Cornelia, Gard’s wife. They were both kind hearted people, yet never came around to visit until it was to take Amelia. Jane had estranged herself from her brother, who had gone on to continue his education in magic and had met Cornelia through a mutual friend.
In December of 1869, the couple arrived, Uncle Gard wearing an expression of utmost disgust on his face, though it softened considerably when he saw the small, wide eyed child clinging to her sister. Cornelia and Gard shared no pleasure in separating the two girls. Jane insisted on having Rosa-Anne, while she insisted Amelia be taken away. Ameila and Rosa-Anne cried for each other until Jane and Richard had to physically take Amelia and shove her out the door.
It was a while before Amelia calmed down. She constantly threw fits, screaming for her sister. There was nothing Cornelia and Gard could do but wait until they subsided to walk in and find Amelia crumpled on the floor, exhausted from her efforts with her room in shatters. Come time when her Hogwarts letter came, Gard, Cornelia and Amelia had grown considerably closer. Amelia no longer threw fits, but the servants would tell her aunt and uncle of cries for her sister that they heard coming from her room during the night. Otherwise, Ameila virtually showed no acknowledgment of her mother, father or sister, and her aunt and uncle never mentioned them either. They knew Amelia wouldn’t be able to bear it. From the time Amelia was taken away from her family and her time at Hogwarts, Cornelia remained persistent about forming a bond with Amelia. Even when Amelia went as far as throwing a vase at Cornelia, Cornelia only rushed forwards and embraced Amelia. Gard and Cornelia became Amelia’s family.
When Amelia came back from her first year at Hogwarts, she was bright, cheerful and bursting with energy. Hogwarts was the first place she’d felt she’d belonged somewhere, where she could start a whole new life and no one would know about her family life, besides Uncle Gard and Aunt Cornelia, whom Ameila spoke extremely highly of. It started out rocky though. Amelia had proven herself to be a hatstall. The Sorting Hat sat deliberating on which house to put her in, Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. It wasn’t until Amelia, her face set with determination, was visually trembling with fear that she would be sent back that the hat shouted GRYFFINDOR!!
. After that, Amelia proved herself to be extremely witty and clever and people wondered why the hat hadn’t put her in Ravenclaw. When asked, Amelia would simply reply in a clear voice, because I have something to prove
. And she did - she was determined to prove herself to be an excellent witch. She wanted to soak up all the knowledge there was to know about the world she belonged in - about the world that was kept from her childhood.
In her time at Hogwarts, Amelia never participated in Quidditch, or any clubs. She was certainly passionate about them, and loved attending the matches to support her fellow classmates. She spent a lot of her time in the library, but Amelia always made time for friends. She was fiercely loyal to them, and never hesitated to abandon books or homework when one of them was in need. She never hesitated to help them or anyone else who was being bullied. She successfully set one 7th year’s robes on fire, which proved to be a hard time putting out. Although cruel, Amelia had made sure the fire didn’t spread, and had targeted at the hem of the student’s robes - not anywhere near their face - though she was fully capable of making the fire burn robes like cracked dry parchment. It soon became what she was known for, her fire spells - unfortunately she got put in detention for the fire spell, however harmless it had been.
Most of her memories at Hogwarts were precious to her, and brought Amelia great happiness. Most. She missed her sister dearly, and often cried during the night. She wrote to her aunt and uncle after having had a few nightmares about it. In hopes of remedying this, Gard and Cornelia had a picture of Rosa-Anne put in a golden locket and sent it to Amelia at Hogwarts. To this day, Amelia wears it either around her neck underneath her clothes, or (depending on the neckline) she attaches the chain to her dress. She wishes to keep it out of sight, lest people ask prodding questions.
In her 7th year at Hogwarts, Amelia prepared for the Coming Out ball. Normally, she only would have been a little excited about it, but her excitement for this ball stemmed from her desire to present herself to society anew. She was a witch - something her parents abhorred - and she was proud of it. She even went as far as to send a letter via owl to her parents, whom she simply called ‘Jane and Richard’, describing her becoming a full fledged witch, with outstanding grades in every subject. Amelia also told her parents she was in the process of becoming an Animagus. She received O’s in all her OWLS except Herbology, in which she received an E. After her parents had read the letter, Jane and Richard shaking with rage at the audacity of their daughter, the letter burst into flames, red hot and raging. It quickly turned the letter to soot before burning out in the air and resulting in harmless ash on the ground.
Amelia now works with animals at the Beautiful Beast Boutique on High Street. Amelia has proved herself to be extremely adept at caring and communicating with animals. She owns an Australian Shepherd dog named Penny, who can change colors depending on her mood - silver and black or copper and white. After a grueling effort, Amelia completed the process of becoming an Animagus, and transformed into a Northern Goshawk.
Amelia’s personality is complicated at best. There are times when her temper can go off like a cannon. She has a long fuse, but when it goes off, it’s a nasty sight. Aside from when she has a temper tantrum, Amelia is quite amiable and calm. She values honesty, and always tries to tell the truth. She realizes that telling the truth may not always be the best thing for everyone, but she tries to damper it as best she can. Because of the drastic change from her childhood to adult hood, Amelia is not comfortable with change but when forced to she can adapt well. As stated previously, she is extremely devoted to her friends, but she is extremely adamant about trust. She doesn’t trust easily, and is extremely cautious about anyone who wishes to become her friend. On the outside, Amelia seems extremely calm and collected, but once one gets to know her, one will see Amelia has insecurities, especially about intimacy. The people that she has allowed to get close to her have seen that it takes a while before Amelia trusts completely. She's well known for her fire spells and curses, which don't make people scared of her, but aware of the consequences of Amelia's mis-placed trust.
