Did you know?

Fern-hunting parties became popular, allowing young women to get outside in a seemingly innocuous pursuit with less rigid oversight and chaperoning than they saw in parlors and drawing rooms. They may have even had the occasional romantic meetup with a similarly fern-impassioned beau. — Bree

WANTED:

"The Prodigal Sister" for Ophelia Devine. Faked deaths, scandal, and schemes!
Now that he had walked up to them, he couldn't exactly whirl around and get going. That would be rude. And was not, presumably, how straight men seduced their future wives.

Student Staff Selection '88

Prefect Season is my FAVOURITE TIME OF YEAR, and as such I hope everyone applies who is remotely qualified applies!

ABOUT STUDENT STAFF

Hogwarts' student staff serve as role models for their fellow students. Additionally, they reinforce/penalize good and bad behaviour by issuing and taking away house points. In addition to prestige, prefects receive half of their tuition and heads all of their tuition in exchange for their efforts. They also get to use the prefects’ toilets because that is clearly a selling point.

Faculty recommendations will be handled privately, NOT via the prefect apps.

ACTIVITY LOG:
Optional. Reassure the staff team that your character’s been active! You can link to any of the following:
 • All active threads set at Hogwarts.
 • All completed threads set at Hogwarts.
 • All dead threads set at Hogwarts if you were the last person to post in them.
 • Any completed homework assignments.
 • Any class threads you’ve posted in, even if they’ve died.
 • Any quidditch matches you’ve posted in.
 • Any club meetings you’ve posted in, even if they’ve died.
Someone with a terrible personality won’t get cleared just because they’ve been more active, but activity is still a factor for us! You should only link threads from the 1887-1888 school year. Scored OOC only.

Your activity log is in addition to any evidence of behaviours/involvement found in the “why should you be prefect” section.

To apply, make sure your character meets the demographic in question (IE sixth year Ravenclaw female should be a female student in Ravenclaw house who will be in sixth year in September) and has at least 10 posts on their account. Charaters approved on or after May 15th only need five posts on their account—so you’re welcome to make a character to fit the bill ;) You must post the form below as a reply to this thread from the account in question.

Because of the move, we also require that all characters have an active, un-ported thread at the time of applying. Please include it in the "active thread" field :)

Code:
[b]Character Name:[/b]
[b]Active Thread:[/b]

[b]Class & Blood Status:[/b] Public perception, please. Don’t tell me half-veela if your character is perceived as a muggleborn or something xD
[b]Reputation:[/b]
[b]Why Should You Be Prefect:[/b]
An IC-meets-OOC explanation. We know that not all characters would try to talk themselves up, but if they were trying to, what would they say? Linking to posted evidence can give you a much-needed boost! Threads from previous school years may be included here as evidence!

Why Should You Be Prefect:
Despite any of my shortcomings, I should be considered for prefect because I care. Hufflepuffs are touted for their unprejudiced ways — a trait that I've worked hard to prove I possess (1, 2) despite the stereotypes associated with my name. I make the best effort to get to know younger students, while also encouraging those I love to be their best. I also show... persistence? I participate in class and seek further help when I need it. I diligently complete homework assignments, and even participate in tournaments!

Why Should You Be Prefect:
Through my time as a prefect, I’ve proven to be impartial in my judgments—I won’t balk at taking away points, even from my own house. I am friendly to those in other houses, and a dedicated student. Unlike some candidates, I’m not a purist or a prat.

I have been actively involved in the school* since my first year, and can think of now better way to round out my Hogwarts career. I have been involved in clubs for both History and Potions. I also once saved a boy from drowning, so that's probably a mark in my favour.

Why Should You Be Prefect:
I should be prefect because, despite my competitive nature, I remain friendly and build others up instead of tearing them down. I show house pride by participating in house quidditch, though never allow my grades to falter. I remain optimistic in the face of adversity, and do not allow myself to become a doormat.

Why Should You Be Prefect:
Unlike some of my classmates I do not come from a privileged background and have learned that nothing can be obtained without first working for it, an example I would strive to set to others. During my time at Hogwarts I have partaken in dueling tournaments and potion brewing competitions, along with being an active participant in classwork. Outside of the classroom I have shown a willingness to tutor younger students in other houses and even assisted students in peril despite being an invalid at the time.

Applying For: Head Boy you know you want this to happen y'all
Class & Blood Status: UCPB

Why Should You Be Prefect:
The role of Head Boy was meant for me, as I am a born leader, something I have demonstrated by my experience as Slytherin Quidditch Captain and as Prefect. I keep up with my duties, and am unafraid to dock points if the situation requires or to exercise my authority. Nevertheless, I am loyal to my friends, and am capable of getting along with people outside of my House or even beyond my social class.

That said, I am always keen to foster Slytherin unity and to support younger students. One could even call me an aspirational figure for my peers, as not only do I participate in my classes, I also lead the way in achievement, and am sure I would continue to inspire everyone unsurpassably as Head Boy.

Why Should You Be Prefect:
A prefect must be a role model to every student at Hogwarts and I believe that this year I’ve been a role model student for other students to follow. I am diligent student. I attend all my classes and I do my homework. I am a cooperative group mate. I am also an active participant of school events like the dueling tournament. I also try my best to help younger and older students. Additionally, despite my housing most of my prejudiced peers I do not share their views on blood purity but I do respect them.

Why Should You Be Prefect:
I have always been dedicated to working hard and avoiding distractions. I shall do the same with dedicating myself to insuring that my fellow students are safe and behaving appropriately. I do make an effort to stand up for my fellow students, and I work hard to resolve conflict with fellow my peers. Working hard in my classes is very important to me as well as achieving my goals in my academic career. I am also the Transfiguration Club President and do my best to be academically prepared and help my fellow students with their work. I work to achieve my goals and look towards my future outside of Hogwarts.
