Did You Know?
Queen Victoria was known for putting jackets and dresses on her pups, causing clothing for dogs to become so popular that fashion houses for just dog clothes started popping up all over Paris. — Fox
It would be easy to assume that Evangeline came to the Lady Morgana only to pick fights. That wasn't true at all. They also had very good biscuits.

Appearance:
Dark, brooding, but just slightly taller than average, Don Juan has mostly lived up to the image of the dashing male hero he always aspired to be. He's not classically handsome but is no longer the gangly, awkward youth he once was, making up for his genetic "aesthetic failings" with expensive apparel. Like most of his siblings he has dark hair and eyes, fair skin, and striking features. He has a habit of twirling (and dropping) his wand, which he carries in his left hand.
History:
Childhood

1863 | Don Juan Dempsey is born to Eamon and Lowri Dempsey, a pair of Irish poets, less than a year after the birth of their daughter Porphyria. The fourth child in the family, Don Juan sees more of his nanny than he does his parents, but his theatrics usually draw their attention anyways. He's enjoys screaming for no discernible reason and then stopping the minute he's given attention.

1865 | Christabel Dempsey is born. Don Juan is as equally attentive as he is hazardous to the new baby, always trying to engage her in play that she's not ready for. His parents treat him with a game of magical cards to entertain him. He doesn't know how to play, but he enjoys mixing them up and watching them rearrange themselves.

1866 | At the young age of three Don Juan displays his first sign of magic.

1867 | Shalott Dempsey is born. Don Juan has a passing interest in the child, one that ends promptly when he sees the baby vomit for the first time.

1868 | Ozymandias goes off to Hogwarts. While not terribly close to his brother, Don Juan looks up to him and struggles to repress his tears when they see him off. He should get to go, too—all the boys should go at once!

1869 | Lycoris is born. Don Juan struggles to say her name correctly (saying Lock-rus instead) for the first year of her life.

1870 | Two years has made no difference, as Don Juan is no less upset when Endymion leaves for Hogwarts as he was when Ozymandias did. Now outnumbered by the girls in his family, Don Juan tries to spend as much time as he is allowed at his father's side. He learns to appreciate poetry and the Romantic movement, as is urged to pursue the creative arts on his own. Don Juan never views himself as talented in his parents, but tends to overromanticize the lifestyle associated with his namesake. He wants to be a hero—someone dark, brooding, and handsome, someone all the ladies (and maybe men) will love and fawn over. It's not easy to accomplish at seven, though.

Hogwarts Years

1874 | Don Juan finally goes off to Hogwarts, joining all of his older siblings on the train come September. He is sorted into Gryffindor, less (he thinks) for his courage and nerve and more because of his dreams of becoming a daring hero. Unfortunately chances to be anyone's knight in shining armor don't come too often at Hogwarts, so Don Juan puts his attention on his schoolwork. He demonstrates a natural inclination for wand work—especially charm work—but seems to do well across the board.

1875 | Ozymandias graduates from Hogwarts and disappears for his tour of the continent. Don Juan tries to write once, but never receives a reply and never tries again. He tells himself it was lost in transit, and seeing that he never brings it up in conversation after the fact, it might be true.

1876 | At the beginning of his third year Don Juan adds two classes to his schedule: Ancient Runes and Divination. Neither of them have much use to him, but he does like flirting with the girls in Divination and pretending he's solving some ancient mystery every time he tries to do his rune translation homework.

1877 | His fourth year marks two major milestones in his life: his first kiss, with Miss [—], a girl in the year beneath him, and his first kiss with a boy, which happens a mere month later. He didn't initiate the kiss, but he didn't stop it, either. He impulsively breaks off the friendship afterwards out of shame, guilt, and—most predominately—fear.

1878 | Fifth year comes and goes, and Don Juan is not given a prefect badge. This is probably for the best.

1879 | His OWL scores come back, and with passing scores in nearly every subject he struggles to narrow down which courses he'll take at NEWT level. Eventually he decides on five, knowing he does not have the drive to do more but knowing anything less might limit his options for the future.

1880 | Don Juan loses his virginity over Christmas break after being dragged to a brothel by one of his brothers. This makes dealing with his hormones while at Hogwarts no easier.

Adult-ish

1881 | After graduation Don Juan does exactly what's expected of him: nothing of value. His parents send him to the continent with a hefty amount of coin and an expectation that he'll be gone for at least a year, which he is... for the most part. Every few months, sometimes to sleep a night in his bed and enjoy breakfast the next day before returning to wherever he came from. Other times he grabs a book or two from the family library before disappearing back through the fireplace.

1882 | Don Juan returns from the continent, and with plenty to brag about. He's unbearable to be around for the first two weeks with talks about all the galleries he's visited, famous duelers he's watched compete, actresses he swears he's seduced after their shows. Finally he reveals his truest accomplishment after he accidentally leaves his journal in the Dempsey's sitting room: he's written his first draft of a novel. It's about a wizard who, after a quest through time to stop the man who stole his family's fortune, comes to realize it was he who stole the family fortune to stop his great-grandparents from committing some great evil with it. He doesn't publish it, wary of any comparisons between him and the other creatives in his family especially when Phyri publishes her poems the same year.

1887 | Ozymandias gets married to a woman formerly in Don Juan's year at Hogwarts. It's a little weird, but even weirder is the fact that the two publicly despised each other until their sudden engagement. He only comments on it when he's stuck listening to their bickering around the holidays.

Early 1888 | He and his friends spend a month in France, which seems fated to end poorly when the group is robbed by highwaymen. With most of their remaining coin lost, they choose to spend the last of it getting drunk and playing an irresponsible game of cards. They place a binding spell over their game so nothing that's gambled away can be forcibly returned to its previous owner afterwards. Don Juan manages to lose his shoes and a pair of cufflinks but gains ownership of a magical publishing house back in London.

Recent Years

Late 1888 | With absolutely zero knowledge of publishing, Don Juan sells half the company to one of his investor friends who seems to have connections in that area. It's probably the first thing in his adult life that he takes seriously. The publishing house gains a reputation for being unafraid to publish controversial works and taking chances on writers who are deemed "too risky" by other major publishing houses. The main branch remains in London, but Don Juan sees that a small office is rented on High Street in Hogsmeade for visibility.

1890 | For the second time in his life Don Juan is confronted by his attraction to men. For some reason, some how, and he's not sure why and isn't sure if he wants to know why, he is propositioned by another gentleman after a viewing at the theatre. He rejects the advances out of panic, but slowly comes to realize that he almost wishes he'd have said yes.
Personality:
Bold. Argumentative. Charming on the surface, but the longer you get to now him the more you realize it's a façade. Overbearing. Has a strong "my way or the highway" mentality. Arrogant. Protective of the people he cares about, but not always good at expressing it. Prone to mood swings. Overindulgent. Enjoys doing things for the shock factor.
Other:
SKILLS

  • Languages: Speaks English and French, can read Ancient Greek. He likes to show this off when the opportunity arises.
  • Magical Abilities: Skilled with charm work with a specialty in forgery charms.

TRIVIA

  • Patronus:  TBD
  • Amortentia:  TBD
  • Boggart:  Himself, naked. It's more of a representation of being vulnerable in front of strangers than it is a literal fear of being naked.
  • He is bisexual but has only ever been with women. For him homosexuality is an act rather than an orientation, so he's able to rationalize the physical aspect while panicking at the thought of having romantic feelings for another man.
