    • At five feet, three inches—and with more around the middle after thirty years and four children than she had before she married—Astrid is remarkably ordinary. Though pretty in her youth, time has brought out wrinkles, though she does not mind in the least. Her chestnut hair is always pinned up neatly, and similarly-colored eyes are topped with thin lashes. She has a small mouth, nose, and chin and frailer hands than one might expect, but to meet her, no one would consider any of these to be “weak”. She dresses sensibly more so than fashionably, with the loosest corset she can get away with and reasonably dull colors. Astrid is right-handed.
    • 1830-1834 | Astrid is born first of her siblings, and ultimately, proves to be one of the strongest. Though both male, the two children that follow her do not live to their fourth birthdays, a fact that, even in adulthood, gives Astrid a sense of destiny: clearly, she was intended to go far. The year she turns four she is joined by a sister, Helga, who she quickly decides to be inferior to her. This belief will not shift until both women have careers of their own.

| Another sister, Sarah, is born, but she proves sickly from the start.

| Astrid’s first act of magic is to summon a book out of her father’s hands.

| Sarah passes. Unlike with her brothers, Astrid is old enough to recognize the event, and is deeply saddened. That same year, Irma is born.

| Irma dies. At nine, Astrid is now quite sure she won’t be “doing any of that baby-having business” if they keep dying and making everyone sad.

| Isolda is born. Astrid uses the fact that she is soon to depart for school as an excuse not to get attached—though in truth, she’s not convinced this sibling won’t die either. Once at Hogwarts, the hat muses over every house but Hufflepuff before settling on Gryffindor.

| Margot is born.

| Margot dies. In her third year, Astrid chooses Arithmancy and Divination as her electives, in the hopes that they might warn her of impending death in the family.

| Elbridge is born. Astrid hopes for her parents’ sake that he will stay healthy, as none of the other boys have.

| Helga joins her at Hogwarts. Astrid is very proud indeed to have been named prefect for Gryffindor.

| Astrid’s father passes in April, a fact she will later blame for her mediocre—in her mind—OWL performance. She is quite distressed by both.

| Astrid finishes her schooling at Hogwarts, and makes her debut in a private Coming Out ceremony. She surprises no one when, instead of throwing herself into the season, she takes up a position in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. When her NEWT scores arrive in the summer, she is quite chuffed to see she has garnered all Os.

| Her mother is elected Minister of Magic. Though the two do not always see eye to eye, Astrid is immeasurably proud of her. While Evangeline is not the first female Minister, she is the first in recent memory.

| Helga finishes her schooling. Astrid is quite proud when her sister chooses to pursue a career as a healer. Less exciting is Helga’s decision to marry. Later that year, Isolda starts at Hogwarts.

| Helga delivers Astrid’s first nephew, Daniel.

| Helga has a second son, Ryker.

| After a three year acquaitnence but no real courtship, Astrid does something that shocks everyone: becomes engaged to a man fifty years her senior. Utterly infatuated with Merlin, a member of the Wizengamot, she insists that a man’s mind is of far more importance than how spry he is. While he is quite happy for her to continue working after the pair marry in May, she thinks she owes it to the man she loves to at least try to be a proper wife. Elbridge begins his schooling. Her mother’s tenure as Minister ends.

| Merlin’s age prevents them from spending an abundance of time in the marital bed, but what time is spent produces a son, Orpheus, just after Valentine’s Day.

| Isolda finishes at Hogwarts.

| Astrid delivers a daughter, Andromeda. Elbridge finishes at Hogwarts.

| Astrid delivers a second son, Felix.

| Orpheus leaves for Hogwarts.

| A pregnant Astrid is heartbroken when Merlin dies of a heart attack just after his ninetieth birthday. She is startled to discover that Merlin has willed her everything—which their children will only inherit if she herself wills it.

| Astrid delivers her fourth and final child, Mordred. Three months later, she decides that while the life of a wife was all well and good, she has no desire to lead the life of a widow—she promptly returns to the Ministry. In addition to rejoining her former department, she also claims the seat on the Wizengamot that her husband’s death vacated.

| Andromeda leaves for Hogwarts.

| Orpheus finishes his schooling.

| Elbridge marries a Miss Lucille Lancaster. Though unsure of Lucille initially, Astrid quickly warms to the younger woman. Later that year, Elbridge’s first child, Cicero, is born. Felix goes to Hogwarts.

| Astrid is promoted to the assistant head of her department. She relocates to Hogsmeade shortly thereafter.

| Andromeda finishes her schooling and makes her debut.

| She is incredibly displeased when Eustace Macnair—through some feat of nepotism—is promoted over her to head of the department. Lucille gives Elbridge a daughter called Eurydice. Mordred goes to Hogwarts.

| After Mr. Macnair leaves for personal reasons—only weak men quit for personal reasons, further cementing his uselessness in her mind—Astrid ascends to head of the department.

| Astrid’s eldest nephew dies.
    • Strong-willed. Progressive. Hardworking. Dedicated. Intelligent. Abrasive.

      Detailed personality to come later.
