Victorians could hire 'professional mourners' to attend their loved one's funeral. These people would partake in the procession and were not allowed to speak, just look awfully sad! — Rune

Kristoffer was going to be great at this, because he was great at everything. Also his memory was greater than everyone else's, because he bet no one else had ever lost their virginity somewhere exotic like Morocco. Hell, he bet no one else had even lost their virginity. Inexperienced losers.

May 19th, 1888 - Sanditon Resort Season Opener
Violetta Lestrange
Louisa had finally succeeded in getting her father to rent a house in London for the season. And though it was a month earlier than usually, it was apparently taking longer than expected though, so he'd thought to bribe her with a trip to the Sanditon for the Season Opener. It would work, for the time being, but she had better be moving into a rented home in London upon the ending of the weekend.

They'd gotten situated and dressed well to attend the starting of the events and soon enough Louisa and her mother were making their way to the boardwalk for the free ice creams. Conversations were flowing well and going well when Louisa noticed Violette Lestrange, a fellow pureblooded debutante though one that was clearly waiting for something special.

"Hello Miss Lestrange," she said pleasantly as she approached the other woman. They had yet to receive an ice cream for themselves but someone came by shortly after the greeting had been made. Just as Louisa reached to grab one, however, someone jostled the servant handing the ice cream to them and resulted in his whole tray to clatter to the ground and several of the ice creams splashed onto their dresses, leaving Louisa staring in open mouthed shock over what had just happened.

Violetta wished she was waiting for someone special; in reality, she was waiting for someone decent who her parents approved of, though she noted their standards were beginning to slip as she grew closer to being considered unmarriageable in the eyes of good society. That was a good thing, she decided, but it only mattered if someone would take her — something that she was growing less hopeful as the months dragged on.

She'd decided this was her last good season; she was still able to obscure the grey hairs that had unfortunately decided to begin sprouting prematurely, but she knew that wouldn't last forever (and people would being noting the differences in the shade of her hair if she began coloring it!). The thought of physically aging quicker than other witches was alarming, but her mother had attempted to soothe her with stories of her own youth, which, coincidentally, also included greys.

Her worries aside, today was supposed to be fun! She was at the Sanditon with her mother, who had busied herself with some of the other older socialites while Violetta was left in a group of debutantes — many of who, unfortunately, were younger than she. Nevertheless, she wore a bright smile and kept close to her group, lest she end up with rumors.

She found herself with Miss Louisa Lupin, who, while definitely pretty, seemed a little self-interested. Violetta returned a smile in greeting, though didn't have much time to speak — suddenly, trays went clattering and ice cream went splashing!

"Oh dear," she gasped, surveying the damage on her own dress before her gaze moved over to the younger Miss Lupin's. "Heavens! Look at the mess!" she exclaimed. What they needed now was a quality cleaning spell.

Louisa forced herself to smile at the poor servant who had just made quite the mess of things. He was at least quick enough to attend to the problem and quickly clean the mess that was made before disappearing a few shades redder than he'd been before. Unfortunately, it seemed to leave them both without an ice cream of their own.

"Well then," she said simply before turning blue eyes to the other woman, "I suppose the lack of ice cream would do our figures good, or so I'm sure someone would say." Clearly trying to make a joke of it though she really did long for the cold and sweet treat. "How have you been?" she asked, hoping another servant would at least bring them by another ice cream since they'd been denied the first offer.
