Victorians could hire 'professional mourners' to attend their loved one's funeral. These people would partake in the procession and were not allowed to speak, just look awfully sad! — Rune

WANTED:

"The Prodigal Sister" for Ophelia Devine. Faked deaths, scandal, and schemes!
Kristoffer was going to be great at this, because he was great at everything. Also his memory was greater than everyone else's, because he bet no one else had ever lost their virginity somewhere exotic like Morocco. Hell, he bet no one else had even lost their virginity. Inexperienced losers.

April 29th, 1888 — Magical Hall
Hale often came to the Podmore Zoological Gardens. He was a fan of magical creatures in general and was often watching from the other side of the glass studying them. Not in academic aspect but more so a personal curiosity. One that his father never formally understood. If he had his way, he would have had an occupation and he was certain he would've loved it. Hale had lived under his father's thumb so long that some days he hardly noticed but most days it was like a weight upon his chest. There were things in his life he didn't have control over but no matter how frustrated he got, he knew it wouldn't change as long as his father was alive.

That badge of resentment was one he often felt he hid under his fancy clothes. His bright blue eyes deceiving the public as he smiled like everything was okay. He needed to stop having these depressing reflections, all it did was make him think about the problem. There was no real solution from where he was standing and he didn't what his thoughts to ruin the outing he had planned with Miss Noire. It didn't help that it was his father's idea but he'd pretend it was his and play the role of the dutiful son. It was almost like breathing at this point, but that didn't make it any less painful. His heart often fluttered against his ribs like a bird trying to escape its cage.

The moment he noticed a pair of familiar figures approaching him, he turned, nodding to both of them before reaching into his pocket to retrieve their tickets and offer them. "It's good to see you, Miss Noire, you look lovely today as always." There was no use addressing the chaperone, most didn't say a word anyway. "Are you ready for our stroll through the Zoological Gardens?" he inquired with his usual smile. Hale then offered his arm, fulfilling his father suspected. There was a twinge of uncertainty that panged his stomach but he ignored it and waited to see what Miss Noire had to say. Normally he was a fantastic conversation partner but a combination of nerves and a bit of hopelessness held him back.

Sapphire had blocked out the advice of her mother as she helped her get ready for her meeting with Hale with her chaperone. It was always the same. Stand up straight. Do not slouch. Do not argue with your betrothed. She was a lady and could not roll her eyes but by Merlin's beard how she wanted to. She knew that she'd of course have to not disrespect Hale. Not that she would. They had met in passing glances and were not very against one another.

She did however notice that he was as much in a role of this as her. Both of them had members of their family that influenced them. Plus,he was as much being pushed as she was. But Sapphire actually did quite like Hale a bit. He was easy on the eyes and well, very handsome from her point of view. Plus if they spent the time to speak and get to know each other, perhaps they could agree on how their families are reacting to their social engagement.

Sapphire arrived promptly with her chaperone following close behind her as they reach Hale. "Thank you,Mr. MacNamara. You look very dashing today if I may say so." She took the tickets offered and gave one to her chaperone, holding her own ticket in hand. She nodded and took his arm. "Of course. Lead the way." She then looked to her chaperone behind her and whispered to Hale. "Don't mind her, she's always this stuffy."
